Roberta's Oriental Totem Pole
I am not understanding the bad reviews... Yes I was skeptical, but I have had my plant in water for about 10 weeks, and have about 7 thriving sprouts that are healthy and beautiful!!!!!!! I love it !!!!! Friends were wondering why i had a stick sitting in water lol !!! I may just order another one!!!
Be patient and follow the directions
A few years ago I purchased the bamboo from Roberta's and that plant is thriving in my home. Since I had such good luck with that one, I decided to purchase this totem pole. When I received it I was skeptical and my family laughed at me and said "it's a log!" Well, I decided to stick it out. I followed the directions and it's been about 4 weeks now. I have roots beginning to come out at the bottom and about 3 noticeable shoots starting to emerge from the top. I can't wait to see how this develops. I look forward to many happy years with it. Thank you Roberta's for such unique house plants!
Don't waste your money
The picture of this totem pole is very pretty. I bought 2 of them, one for a friend and one for myself. . . Neither of the plants produce for us. I am very disappointed that I wasted money. The good part is I still have a friend...lol
I purchsed this plant last May (2012) and it is going strong. I left it in the water for 9 weeks and I saw 4 sprouts start to grow. I then planted it in a large pot and made sure to pack the dirt around it really well so the roots would grow and put it in a place in my bedroom that gets indirect light from the window. The directions say not to put it in direct sunlight. There is light from the window on the plant every day, but not strong light. It seems to be happy there. I have 4 huge branches and lots of leaves. I water it once a week when the soil is dry. It is thriving. No light would not be good either. Maybe the mistake people are making is they aren't packing the soil around the plant well when planting. That does make a difference. I may order another one.
Everyone laughed at me
My family thought I was nuts when I received my log!!!! I followed all directions and 4 yrs. later my log is 4 ft tall and you can not even see the log through the foliage! Thank you Robert'a for a very interesting plant.
Don't Waste Your Money!!
This was the biggest waste of money ever!! I followed the directions to the letter
I read many reviews from different people for different plants. I have learned that every plant will live or die according what kind of water you use. I got a plant that
someone said was dead I was looking for a planter. I learned that i you use city water
your plants will not threive as will as if you catceer rainwat and use it. My plants always
get big and threive well whereever I live if I use rainwater. All my plants from QVC threive on rainwater. Remember to keep the soil moist not dry or muddy. I also mist
the leaves every couple of days and not wait until they reed to be watered. I have had
a pepper plant that gave me 58 peppers in one season. I know it sounds like a lot but s I learned to garden from my grandmother. She had a green thumb and alway got a lot of
produce from her garden.
Best plant ever
Order mine last year its so big now I need to put it in a bigger pot. What I did noticed it like light. This winter I had to move it under a lamp that we use every nite and after that I started seeing more baby leaves. I water it once a week if I remember :) I order another one this year. It makes me so happy to see how much its changing.
I bought 2 of these totem poles about 3 years or so ago. They are gorgeous now. Bushy and healthy. I did just what was directed. Don't know why nobody else got bad results. I love mine
I bought this plant two years ago and it is just beautiful. It has filled up an entire window and keeps growing and thriving. Love it.
Not Sure What Happened. Reconsidering.
I purchased one 2 years ago. It did well the first season, but died over winter. Too late for a replacement. I then found a similar tree at Lowe's on clearance for $5. I had actually it giiven away to my aunt because she likec it so much. She then asked me to take it back because the leaves started dyiing. After bringing it home, it became healthy again.
I would like to try the Totem Pole again. It's just much prettier than mine from Lowe's, which has shorter pointy, spikey leaves. I do pretty well with plants and I'm not sure if this is a "problem child" or if I just got a dud.
LOVE THIS PLANT!
I bought this Totem Pole last year (named it Stump because that is what it looked like). I followed the directions. It still did not have leaves when I planted it in the dirt but shortly after it started to sprout.
I would say the leaves have grown about 12 inches above the stump. It is beautiful!
