Roberta's Oriental Totem Pole
evolving brefore my eyes
watching it every day and noticing the plant is about to sprout after about a week and a half.
oriental totem pole
I purchased this plant over a year ago and it is now over 3 ft. tall. My favorite plant.
My grandchildren are amazed that it started out as a piece of wood and turned into
such a beautiful plant.
I tried these twice and followed directions. Got both to leaf-out nicely in water, then potted. After that they didn't really change except to have some leaves turn brown. Eventually they started to look sick and neither had sprouted any roots... was over many months duration too - know they are slow growing. It was fun at first.
I bought this plant about four years ago. I've keept it in water all this time. I looks like the one in the picture. I just wash out the rocks and change the water once a month so it won't smell. I love it.
Yes, I have a green thumb, but....
I have approximately 50 plants in my house, all doing great, yet I have tried growing three of these. All three died. How could I have a green thumb for all other plants but these?
Still doing great
I love this plant .I have had mine for over 13 years now, and it is still doing great. I love the fact that it starts out as just a piece of wood, and then grows into the big plant it is now. I don't know why others on here are having problems. You just have to fellow the instructions and above all, you have to be patient... This is a slow growing plant, but well worth the wait. At least I think so. I'm thinking of buying another one for my nephew, which loves
plants as much as I do...
Waste of Money
I bought this a year ago and followed the instructions. It grew two branches with maybe four leaves. Stayed that way for months......very slow growing. Then the leaves turned brown and died. A month or so later, I pulled it out of the pot and it did not have any roots at all. I am going to go buy a developed plant (same thing) at Fred Myer. Very dissappointed and will not buy plants from QVC again.
Very pretty plant
I've had mine for about 7 years now. It was easy to start and easy to take care of. It's very pretty. I have mine in my kitchen. I have a big area around the sink and the window and it is the center piece. I've read many review that said it was a waste of time and money. I think if you actually spoke to those reviewers you would find that they really didn't do what the instructions said or didn't keep it in the proper light with the proper watering. You don't need to be an expert with a green thumb, you just need to follow the instructions.
Foliage But No Roots
Got this 2 years ago, 2012, and the first year was rough. After a year of no growth (yes I scraped the wax off) I drilled 1/8 inch holes in it with my cordless drill and cut the bottom off with a power saw. After that it took off. It has 7 different branches now. However there are still no roots. The leaves turn yellow rather fast, however new ones shoot up to replace them just as quickly. Maybe I got an oddball, but after some TLC it has done well. Does well indoors, shaded. Good for college kids, offices, workplaces.
No very happy
This started to get its leaves and when put in dirt within a month it died off. I should of got my money back.
I purchased this last year and it's still doing great! I only had 3 sprouts last year and I see 2 more appearing now. That's pretty good since it's indoors and doesn't require a lot of sun! I purchase another for a friend since he liked mine so much!
I saw this item being available and felt the need to prevent others from making my error in purchasing the Roberta's Oriental Totem Pole. I purchased three of this item on 01/17/13. I did exactly as instructed for all three logs. In the end, I experienced foul smelling water and sticks in the potting soil. I would never recommend this item to anyone.
