Rated 5 out of 5 by Fun to watch grow When I received this about 8 weeks ago, it took me 10 minutes to remove the wax from the bottom of this wood trunk. I found a clear container to house it in for the 6 weeks I was told it would take to get this to start growing. It took a little while but around the base of the trunk it started to split open. I kept waiting to see roots come out but I guess that is not how this works. If you follow the instructions that come with this plant. It says whether it starts to grow at the top or not to just plant it in a pot with dirt. I counted down the six weeks and feed it Roberta's plant food. Towards the end of the six week period, I started to see little bumps in the wood. Then I started to see the plant trying to break through. It was really great to watch. It has now been planted in a pot. I used planting soil and catus soil combined so that there would be good drainage. My tree trunk now has three places around the top where the beginnings of branches with leaves are starting to show. I also have noticed a little further down the trunk that there maybe another two places where I may get more leaves. Not sure this maybe my wishful feelings. This has been very interesting to do, almost like a school project when we all planted lima beans or rooted a potatoe. Looking forward to seeing how this all works out. This does not take a lot of care. Just need to check and see when it needs water. So far so good. :-) 05-22-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by So happy with this plant I waited to write this review because I wanted to give the plant a chance to grow and see what it would do. It's been almost 8 weeks and it's doing great. I transplanted it today into soil and that's the next great test. It has thrived in water with 4 stalks breaking through the totem pole and those stalks are green with multiple beginning leaves. There are also 2 more bumps on the totem pole which seems to signify more stalks to come. I hope it does as well in the soil as it did in water. I would definitely recommend this plant to anyone, especially those who are green thumb challenged like myself. Just be sure to trim the right end of the totem pole, and trim it completely. 05-21-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far, so good I followed the directions upon arrival of the plant. They were easy to follow. Within 6 weeks, the pole has started to sprout the nubs which will become the leaves. I actually have at least one nub on each "side" of the pole. I just transferred the pole to a 6" pot with the planting soil as recommended. Very happy so far. I can't wait to watch it grow. 05-20-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Purchase Ever I bought this plant last year and it is gigantic now. It is about 4 feet tall and so green and bushy. It is absolutely beautiful and so easy to grow with very little care. I would highly recommend this plant as anyone can grow it. And it is fun! 05-17-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by Uncertian So far after receiving and following instructions nothing has happened, no signs of growth. I am afraid that I will think twice before ordering plants through the mail from any place not just QVC as I do not seem to have much luck with them. I have canceled another order for the "dessert rose" with QVC and I requested and received credit for the Teddy Bear mini rose collection that arrived to me in a damaged box and very sorry looking little plants. I have to say customer service for these were very good! I will admit that I did go ahead and planted the little things and it looks like one or two of 6 might survive but for the most part they did not survive other wise. So as far as live plants go I think I will shop locally and bring them home with me. 05-08-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! I have one of these that's quite a few years old. And I have to say that when I first got the "stump" in the mail, I didn't think that anything would come of it. It has flourished. I liked it so much that I purchased one for my daughter, and another that she also took. I have it in a large pot on the floor in the corner of my Dining Room. So pretty. 05-04-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by Over exaggerated sell I bought stumpy (nickname) 2 years ago. I followed the growing instructions to a T. Stumpy is still alive, but only has one lil arm sticking out the side and about 5 little green nubs ready to break through. Not like the ones they advertise on QVC with the huge green lush leaves. Don't get me wrong I love my plant, but I think they should just tell the truth and stop exaggerating. The false hype is getting annoying and frankly not right. 04-14-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love it! This is not my first! I love the first and I love this one. My kids callso it "stumpy " because it looks like a stump, lol. When it starts to grow it will be just as beautiful as the first one that I bought before. I love them !!!!! 04-11-16
