Roberta's 2-pc. Fast Fruiting Grand Nain Banana Plant
This is a fun plant. I purchased it last year and it has not grown quite as fast as advertised but I am still happy with it. The only draw back is the leaves do weep/drip. So be careful if you are putting it indoors. Also the leaves brown easily (this may be due to my care).
I followed the directions for these plants, however, neither one survived a year! I am so disappointed in this purchase.
Grand Banana Plant
I want to let you no that I did exactly how the direction required they were brought into the house, with sun,and water I am heart broken because they died all of them, are there any recovery for this lost after all I haven't had them a year. I truly thank you.
I've had these plants for two years...NO bananas.. It looks pretty. I would look better with Bananas..... The fresh bananas is the reason I bought these...NO bananas
Too funny all the reviews the same. I myself bought these last year and I babied them like crazy. I was so so sad how it came to an end and I hesitate to order them again. I was so very excited I was beginning to show signs of getting close to bananas then all of a sudden I had this bulge coming from the base leading up to the top. So much of a bulge it was almost splitting apart. I was so excited like yeah i am getting bananas my flag leaf is coming!! Now I would like to add I did my research with these plants and took all the necessary steps. Just like the other reviews I had nice leaves and mine grew fast too. So back to the bulge, I was making a video one day for a garden specialist because my plant was splitting at the seams. Upon showing him the issues I had the plant just split completely open and pretty much it was no flag leaf no bananas. It had some default where it was growing inside itself. Overall I had 2 to start and the end result was they had babies and died. Once they start having babies that is it the last hurrah to say the least. I was totally disappointed. Come to find out that if the conditions are not right and not hot enough they will never fruit. what a disappointment.
Don't expect any fruit
These trees are fun to watch grow to huge heights, and with big leaves.
But fruit? nope. just a fun plant.
I bought these trees last year. They grew like weeds!!! Really big had to transplant into a huge pot and they continue to grow. I left them out during winter, they turned brown . I'm in the deep south. I went out and watered them today. They are all brown on top, however, they do have more growth coming out. So, had them a yesr so far and no bananas.
Beautiful tropical plant; No fruit at almost 3 yrs
I have had this for almost 3 years. Have never had fruit. However the plant is beautiful, grew quickly and well for me. It stays outside about 6 months out of the year and is brought in the other 6 months (Ohio). It does not like full blazingly hot sun but prefers mottled sun - mine is on my south facing deck under a partial trellice. It is in a large pot with rich soil and lots of holes in pot bottom; in the summer I water it daily and the leaves love to be gently sprayed with water. The leaves will get torn up if left out by itself in the elements without protection. It has had several shoots growing at the base which I have carefully removed and potted for additional plants. It is a beautiful plant. Mine has grown so tall that I have to cut the top throughout the winter, while it is indoors, b/c it reaches the ceiling. When bringing it in this fall, my hubby sawed off the plant at about 1/3 up the trunk, for ease of bringing it in for winter. Within a few days, a new leaf miraculously sprung up from the middle of the trunk and the plant began producing more and more leaves so that now it is again reaching my ceiling. No it did not provide fruit yet - I am hoping this summer while outside, it will, in its third summer.
Sad, But Not Giving Up!
I purchased two of these banana trees last year and they have performed poorly. One was very tiny when I removed it from the box, and remains tiny to this day. It is still only about 12" tall even though I have transplanted it to a large container. The other one has grown considerably to about 4' tall but I have yet to have any bananas or even a sign of a bloom on either tree. I have ordered other fruit trees from Roberta's & QVC and had success and have been very happy, but with this one not so much. I am going to give Roberta's a call and get their advice on how to try to bring these little guys back to life, because I really want to have these banana trees looking beautiful next to my pool in my backyard here in Arkansas!
Big Leaves But No Bananas
Potted four of these plants in gigantic planters as soon as they arrived, kept them well watered in good sunlight in Texas heat. Six months later and no sign of even the beginning of a banana. Lots of big pretty leaves but none of the fruit that was promised. Very disappointing product. First time QVC failed me.
I am not happy with this purchase.
I planted these plants as soon as they arrived and it's been almost three months ago, well they haven't grown! I see the presentation and the man from Roberta's keeps on mentioning how fast they grow, and that in two months they will be much bigger and I feel like it was dishonest in their part. These are tropical plants so they should be doing well here in south Texas but they aren't. Every day I go out and water them and I can't believe I fell for this. I have bought lots of grate products from QVC but unfortunately the three purchases I made from Roberta's weren't what I expected or was promised. Now I know and won't be buying from Roberta's no more.
Yes I have no bananas
Only one of the two banana trees are growing. Waiting for my bananas to grow
QVC did make good on the tree that died.
