Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sent Back I tried the Ring2 for 3 weeks (just returned it today) and it would only catch people on the porch half the time no matter what I had the distance set at. It would even pick up cars on the road 30 feet away when I had the distance set just on the porch. The only place the live view would work was when I was at home where I did not need it. Maybe the Nest one is better I might give that one a try if the reviews are good.

The first and foremost is that I was not aware nor was it mentioned that I would have to pay a monthly fee after 30 days. That was the main reason I purchased it because of no monthly fees. Secondly, by the time it rings and the picture comes up the person is walking away and they cannot hear me on the speaker.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Reliable The Ring 2 is great when it works, which is only about 50% of the time. I usually can’t get it to connect to the app until after the person at the door has left. We’ve tried moving the antenna to multiple locations, but it never helps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I was hoping for better I installed this item approximately a month and a half after receiving the unit. Since the day I installed the unit, I have not been able to actually communicate with anyone who rings the doorbell as my Ring App tells me there is no internet connection (which there is at 100 megs on the down and 10+ on the up) but apparently the Ring device cannot connect being 8 feet away from my wireless router. I did a test with my laptop next to the Ring doorbell (mounted on a solid core door) and got about 45-47 megs on the download and about 7-8 megs on the upload. I stood outside, rang the doorbell..it rang and the chime rang but it took at least two minutes before any notification actually appeared on my phone. Defeats the purpose entirely of having the thing if it won't connect. The Ring App value says that I am at a RSSI 42 but need RSSI 60 or better to get 1080P. Short of drilling a hole in my door, not sure how I can get a higher value. I use an Archer C7 router which isn't a slouch when it come to data transmission. I have two Samsung Smart TV's that have no trouble at all streaming video so I know it is not my router. I have a little bit better than normal tech know how so I can only imagine what a non-tech person would do under the circumstances. Too late to get my money back from QVC so another piece of tech goes on the junk pile. Maybe I will try a competitor to see if their product is any better. Ring was purchased by Amazon so maybe they can make the tech better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Embarrassed I purchased two as gifts. I was very upset when I learned that you have to pay a monthly fee to view the video after a trial period. Come on QVC don't you think that was worth mentioning? Why give someone a gift that requires they pay for the service.
