Rated 5 out of 5 by from This shovel KICKS ROOT!!! Last year we had our old bushes and most of our landscaping removed and anything that remained needed to be relocated. It has been quite a job, but I can I honestly say this shovel KICKS SOME ROOT and has really been a great help getting below the drip line of my very large lilies and other foundation plants. This shovel does have a little more weight to it than other shovels, but it was only something I noticed when I first picked it up and isn't even a problem for me personally. I have broken shovels in the past and wondered if I might do it this time as i was really putting some pressure on it to get plants pulled up, but so far so good-- this thing is TOUGH! I also use it to quickly dig up oversized dandelions and other weeds in my beds with no problems. I still bring my regular shovel with me for moving the dirt pile around quicker, but that's not something that bothers me at all as I am so pleased to just get my plants uprooted with as little trouble as possible. In addition, I have used it to do some edging and feel it does a great job. And when I do decide to divide up my lilies, I think this might be a useful tool for that job. I am a happy gardener with this shovel and I can get my DIG ON!!! Glad I found this one!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Best Friend I have used this numerous times in this hard, rock, shell dirt that I have in the yard. I have NOT had to water the ground to be able to get the shovel to dig into the ground. It has been my best friend with helping me dig holes to plant trees and shrubs in the ground. I love that the height is 44"-45" depending on where you measure to bottom of shovel. V point would be the 44". I love the round handle, so easy to use. I also found that when working in the yard, I can carry stuff with my hands while having this shovel looped on my arm. As far as rusting goes, I do not know. I clean my shovel after each use and let it dry and then put it in my Deck Box. I am a 65 year old female and my height is 5'7".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best garden tool I have found in a long time! I purchased this in order to remove a vine that has invaded a garden. This thing goes right thru rhizomes and roots like a knife. I personally always make sure I have real shoes on whenever I garden but this shovel definitely requires that your feet are protected due to its serrated edges and sharp point. The handle may look a bit funky but it is super easy on the hands and I really like it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless As much as I love my Spear Head shovel, I had hoped this shovel would also help digging my hard ground rooted areas. But this shovel with its flat edge won’t even go into the ground. One has to dig a hole first to get this shovel to enter. If I already dug a hole, I don't need this useless shovel. Terrible product. Terrible waste of money. Better to dig with the Spear Head and then use an axe to attack roots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just ok I am not really like it when I used it. It just like the normal garden tool, it will get rusty easily.
