About Rachael Ray

It comes as no surprise that Rachael Ray is a household name in the kitchen. After all, her passion for the culinary craft surfaced at a very early age. “My first vivid memory is watching my mom in a restaurant kitchen. She was flipping something with a spatula. I tried to copy her and ended up grilling my right thumb! I was 3 or 4,” she says. Today, Rachael insists that cooking is a way of life she was simply born into.

Growing up in a family steeped in culinary tradition, Rachael was exposed to a wide range of cooking techniques. The Ray family owned several restaurants in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, before relocating to upstate New York, where her mother worked as the food supervisor for a restaurant chain. Rachael soon moved to New York City to work at Macy’s, first at the candy counter and then as a manager for the Fresh Foods Department, which she credits for her education in gourmet foods. After Macy’s, Rachael helped open Agata & Valentina, the prestigious New York gourmet marketplace where she was the store manager and buyer.

Despite the exciting lifestyle in the foodie circles of New York City, Rachael decided to move back to upstate New York and start managing pubs and restaurants at the famed Sagamore Resort on Lake George. From there, she was recruited by Cowan & Lobel, a large gourmet market in Albany, as their food buyer and, eventually, their “chef.”
As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Rachael created a series of cooking classes, which exploded in popularity. The CBS station in Albany-Schenectady, WRGB-TV, discovered Rachael and signed her on to do a weekly “30-Minute Meals” segment for the evening news. The segment was a major success, with a companion cookbook selling 10,000 copies locally during the holidays. With that, a franchise was born!

Now Rachael enjoys her status as an iconic Food Network television personality, best-selling cookbook author, and editor-in-chief of her own lifestyle magazine. In the fall of 2007, she launched Rachael Ray, her hugely successful syndicated daytime talk show.

Showcasing Rachael’s warmth, energy, and boundless curiosity, the show — produced by CBS Television Distribution and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions — invites viewers to experience life the Rachael Ray way. Credited with getting America back in the kitchen with her easy approach to cooking, Rachael takes the same philosophy with her show — finding simple solutions to everyday problems, both in the kitchen and beyond.

“My life has been a total accident — a very happy, wonderful accident that I didn’t and couldn’t have planned,” says Rachael. Despite her growing celebrity she’s determined to stay grounded and hold on to her down-to-earth values. Rachael still spends as much time as she can at her cabin in the Adirondacks with her husband, John, her family — the “research team” — and her beloved pit bull, Isaboo.

Great roomy lunchbox! This bag is perfect for carrying lunch to work! It holds several containers & I even add some snacks, too. I have the grey version & get many compliments on it. If you're looking for a lunch bag, this one is perfect! 09-27-11
Everything you need This bag is large enough for 2 meals, insulates well, multiple pockets for all your organizing needs. Well designed and constructed. You can't go wrong with this one. 09-26-11
Excellent Lunch tote I love this tote! I use it everyday for work! It's got plenty of room! 08-17-11
Love it!!! I got the gray and I love it! It holds so much and even when filled the pockets have plenty of room. Now I'm packing a healthier lunch for myself for the office! Good job Rachael! And, it's really cute!!! 07-27-11

Love Love Love ♥ ♥ ♥ This bag is perfect to tote around water/snacks for a long day out. Ordered 2 of these (Orange and Gray) and they are so adorable. Gave one to my daughter for college and kept one for myself. I owned the Rachel Rays Insulated Grocery Tote's for over 3 years and they work great, but was looking for something smaller to just carry water or goodies. These are peferect!! 07-17-11
Nice lunch bag I bought the orange bag and my mom liked it so much she bought the grey one. I like the bag, just wish the strap was a little longer so it would fit over my shoulder. Now I have to carry it using my hand and the handle and I like to keep my arms free when I'm walking to work from the train. Overall a very nice bag though. One other downside - my husband won't carry it because it looks like a purse :) 07-14-11
This is the best bag ever I bought one of every color. great for a day bag. love, love, love. give one to my sister, she love it. 07-08-11
Great functional lunch tote This is a great medium sized lunch tote - i can get 2 drinks and a sandwich, chips, desert, and small plastic container in here with a small cold pack. Is it very insulated - similar to Rachael's larger themoflect totes. The outside pockets can hold your napkins and silverware. Very nice quality - so if you are looking for something that looks fun but still functions well, this is a great purchase. 04-13-11
Cute bag I got the green bag and am constantly asked why I am carrying 2 handbags; this does look like a handbag. If you do not carry ice or something to keep your stuff cool it does not work very well. Also it seems to only work well about 5-6 hours even w/ ice. The pockets are a nightmare!!! If my bag is full; I carry 4 water bottles(2 cold an 2 ice) it is darn near impossible to get into the pockets w/o emptying the bag. The bag is also heavy so if you have kids it will take a beating but it is heavy!! I had to give up using it because of the weight. All in all a stylish lunch bag. 03-19-11
FANTASTIC TOTE !!!!!!! I just received this last week-the next day I took it on a trip! I love this tote! I bought the orange one and plan to buy more. The quality is great! I used it for diabetes supplies and it held everything nicely without anyone knowing what was in the tote. This tote is very stylish and I love the handles. The side pockets come in handy. The inside and outside material is "just what I was looking for", insulated nicely, and I am very happy with my purchase. I plan to buy another for myself and one for my mom for her birthday. When people see this tote, they will want one! It is amazing that something so great looking can be so functional! 12-23-10
