About Rachael Ray

It comes as no surprise that Rachael Ray is a household name in the kitchen. After all, her passion for the culinary craft surfaced at a very early age. “My first vivid memory is watching my mom in a restaurant kitchen. She was flipping something with a spatula. I tried to copy her and ended up grilling my right thumb! I was 3 or 4,” she says. Today, Rachael insists that cooking is a way of life she was simply born into.

Growing up in a family steeped in culinary tradition, Rachael was exposed to a wide range of cooking techniques. The Ray family owned several restaurants in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, before relocating to upstate New York, where her mother worked as the food supervisor for a restaurant chain. Rachael soon moved to New York City to work at Macy’s, first at the candy counter and then as a manager for the Fresh Foods Department, which she credits for her education in gourmet foods. After Macy’s, Rachael helped open Agata & Valentina, the prestigious New York gourmet marketplace where she was the store manager and buyer.

Despite the exciting lifestyle in the foodie circles of New York City, Rachael decided to move back to upstate New York and start managing pubs and restaurants at the famed Sagamore Resort on Lake George. From there, she was recruited by Cowan & Lobel, a large gourmet market in Albany, as their food buyer and, eventually, their “chef.”
As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Rachael created a series of cooking classes, which exploded in popularity. The CBS station in Albany-Schenectady, WRGB-TV, discovered Rachael and signed her on to do a weekly “30-Minute Meals” segment for the evening news. The segment was a major success, with a companion cookbook selling 10,000 copies locally during the holidays. With that, a franchise was born!

Now Rachael enjoys her status as an iconic Food Network television personality, best-selling cookbook author, and editor-in-chief of her own lifestyle magazine. In the fall of 2007, she launched Rachael Ray, her hugely successful syndicated daytime talk show.

Showcasing Rachael’s warmth, energy, and boundless curiosity, the show — produced by CBS Television Distribution and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions — invites viewers to experience life the Rachael Ray way. Credited with getting America back in the kitchen with her easy approach to cooking, Rachael takes the same philosophy with her show — finding simple solutions to everyday problems, both in the kitchen and beyond.

“My life has been a total accident — a very happy, wonderful accident that I didn’t and couldn’t have planned,” says Rachael. Despite her growing celebrity she’s determined to stay grounded and hold on to her down-to-earth values. Rachael still spends as much time as she can at her cabin in the Adirondacks with her husband, John, her family — the “research team” — and her beloved pit bull, Isaboo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Choice I've been wanting to order this pasta pot for a long time, but held back because of the price and shipping cost. When it went on 6 easy pay, and free shipping I decided this was the time to buy it. I'm glad I did. I used it for the first time this evening to cook my lasagna noodles. It was great. So nice to be able to place the pasta in the pot and not have to wait for the past to "melt down" in the water. Good investment. If you haven't taken the plunge regarding this item, you need to do so. You won't be sorry. It is sold out at this time, but hopefully it will be back in stock soon. 02-15-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE I love Rachel's products. I really love that I can use this on my flat top glass stove and it heats evenly. In addition, it has a spout where you can keep the lid on when pouring out liquids and the steam doesn't burn you. 01-26-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful... The BEST pot I've ever owned. I've had mine (with red handles) for a few years and am coming back for another. Don't hesitate to purchase this! You can use it for many more things than boiling pasta. 01-24-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best pot ever!! I absolutely love this pasta pot.. I am ordering a second one because I use it constantly .. sometimes it is in the dishwasher and I find myself not wanting to use any other pan..now I will have a back -up . LOVE IT!!!! :) 01-16-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by My favorite pot ever I love, love, love this anodized pasta pot. I have had mine a couple years and I bought my daughter one also. I use it often. Great for soups, pot roast, corn on the cob, spaghetti and my favorite crab legs. I put a small rack in the bottom of the pot with just a couple inches of water & lemon juice in it. Just get the water boiling, & a rack. I lay the crab legs on the rack and steam the crab legs about 6 minutes. I can fit about 4 snow crab legs in the pot. Just the water and a little lemon juice in the water. ( don't boil the crab legs, steam them.) ( I just use a little oval rack I have from a crock pot roaster I already own) just use something to keep crab legs above water level. A kitchen store should have a small rack . Think this would be the perfect wedding/ shower gift for a new bride. Just my favorite pot ever. Like others, I wish the smaller one had smaller handles , not the long handle. Again, hard to store the long handled one. 01-09-16

Rated 5 out of 5 by Loved So Much I Came Back For Another Color! This pot is awesome and I use it so much that I now own 2! Please Rachael make a 3 quart and 5 quart oval with the 2 small handles like the 8 quart. I want them both but I have no room to store the oval with the long handle. 12-05-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally! I cant believe no one thought of this sooner! I made spaghetti in it for the first time and it was soooooooo nice to just drop the past in without waiting for it to soften so you can push it down. Such a pain. Being able to just drop it in was great and after it was cooked, I mixed the sauce in the pot and served from it. Large enough to easily handle 2 lbs of pasta with room to mix in sauce etc. Clean up was very very easy. 08-30-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Favorite Pot I bought this pot several years ago, and have used it a lot. I love to cook spaghetti in it, and be able to just drop it in without bending the pasta. I make large quantities of soup, and use an immersion blender in it. It is great for chili too. It is just the right weight--not too heavy and not too light. After many uses, it looks brand new. Not a mark on it, and better than any other pot I own. 08-27-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! Love this! Can't say enough. I use it for more than spaghetti.holds chili, soup, pot pies, just about anything! 08-16-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best Please make your 5qt and 3qt that has the one long handle without the long handle and make like this 8qt. To hard to store anywhere with the long handle. I use your saute pan or this pan almost daily. Do you have a cleaner for the bottom of the pans? After daily use they get discolored on the bottom of pot. 08-15-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Ever! This is my second Rachael Ray pasta pot. I love it. It heats up quickly and evenly, clean-up is a breeze. I keep it on my stove top ready to go at a moment's notice. I've made all kinds of pasta/sauces in it and it is wonderful for soups. Have had and cooked with many, all price ranges, pasta/soup pots and this is the best one I have found. And I love the orange pop of color! It is one of my favorite colors, so happy and cheerful! Good job, Rachael! 08-05-15
