Q: Is the airtight/exhaust valve knob on the lid supposed to be loose?
A: If the unit isn't in use, the valve knob will be loose. It will move easily & may come off if you pull on it. Once the cooker is in use, with the valve knob set to Airtight, the pressure builds up & the valve knob will no longer be loose.
Q: When I set the pressure cooker using the manual cooking time or the preset buttons, it builds pressure & heats up, but in 5 minutes, the unit turns to Keep Warm. Why?
A: The unit senses a pressure leak & improper seal. Make sure the rubber gasket ring is in place, lid is locked & valve is set to Airtight. Reset the unit by unplugging it, waiting 10 seconds before plugging in again. Also, the overheat prevention sensor will automatically set to Off or to Keep Warm when there's a lack of liquid. Add more liquid to the inner pot & start again.
Q: When I choose a menu button or enter a pressure time, nothing happens. What's wrong?
A: Nothing is wrong. The unit is heating up. Once pressure has built inside the cooker, the red display will change to a letter P. This could take 5 to 10 minutes.
Q: Steam is being released from the pressure limiting valve during the pressurizing sequence. How do I fix this?
A: Use tongs (or a similar utensil) & an oven mitt & carefully adjust the valve seal. If steam continues to release, you may need to cancel all the functions, release remaining steam & remove the valve from the lid. Check the thin wire spring on the underside in case
it's bent or loose. If steam still escapes, the valve may need to be replaced or repaired.
Q: Steam is being released around the rim during the pressurizing sequence. How do I fix this?
A: Push down on the lid firmly. If the steam is still releasing, cancel all functions, release any remaining pressure, open the lid & remove it entirely. Check the rubber sealing ring for proper position. Rub ring with a wet cloth to remove any debris. Replace the lid, lock it into place & restart the cooking process.
Q: My food finished cooking & all the pressure is released, but I can't unlock & open the lid. What's stuck?
A: Ensure all the pressure & steam has been completely released & that the small floating valve is no longer in the up position. If stuck in the up position, simply tap the lid slightly to make it go back down, then open the lid. If the lid is still stuck, unplug the unit.
