Plow & Hearth 6 ft. Steel Kinetic Garden Wind Spinner
Not worth it
Got this for my daughter. She loved it till the first wind came along and bent the cheap rod. Needs something more robust to hold this in the ground and withstand wind. The poor rods won't even hold together now. Had to put a solid piece of steel inside to make it stand up. 2 stars for the design and idea. Too bad it didn't hold up.
had this spinner for the second year now and we only put it out in spring and summer. It has fallen apart about 4 times already and have to look for the screws and washers in the soil to put it back together again
Product improvement badly needed
I have purchased 3 of these and loved them a lot, at first. I am having the same problems a lot of other reviewers are mentioning - the pole keeps unscrewing itself and then bends so that you can no longer screw it together and the nuts on the spinner come off. I purchased new nuts/washers and now one side of the spinner seems to spin itself tight. For the price paid, these problems really make me quite mad. Also, the prongs are not nearly enough to keep this in the ground and steady. Would like the engineers who came up with this to re-examine their design quite significantly!
Not worth it
Rec'd this as gift , it spins really good , but it has a limit on how much wind... we had it a week and a storm come though with 30 mile gusts , destroyed it in no time... the brazing on the joints is not strong enough. If you have little to moderate wind you might be OK , but if in strong wind area don't buy this!
Extremely happy with my purchase
Cannot be more pleased with this wonderful addition to my yard. We did read the reviews before making the purchase in December, and when we put it in the yard after Christmas - we did 2 things. I polyurethaned the entire thing. Don't know that it was necessary but wanted to reduce the chance of rust. Based on other reviews, we also went to the hardware store and made a purchase. Not sure what it is called but I'll call it a green garden stake. It is 7-8 foot and is plastic coated metal - I think we paid about $4 dollars for it. Husband drove it 1/2 way into the ground and then zip-tied to the wind spinner. We did this because some people stated the spinner's core rod wanted to bend. Since we are on a hill and often receive 20-30 mph winds, we decided to try this. We are in the STL area and have quite a variety of weather in the last 2 months. The spinner is wonderful to watch. It catches the slightest breeze. Do the 2 pieces spin the same direction - at times yes and at other times different directions. It's all about the wind. Would definitely buy again!!!
liked spinner a lot, but pole bends or unscrews, only 2 prongs not enough to hold in place. need to hold in place with a large rock. glad to c they listened to every ones complaints & fixed these problems. unfortunately I did order another model before they fixed these problems completely, which I haven't put up yet. did order another model with the new improvements. hopefully my son can fix the other ones.
Great piece...Hours of entertainment. Very large in size. I can truly tell how hard and what direction wind is blowing
Won't Buy Again......
Love the spinner, but it did not last a season.....my pedals started to fall off....wish they would improve the product for the cost!
This is my second season of owning. As so many others have stated, the pole has rusted where it will not stay screwed into the ground stake. Trying to figure out a work around because I have enjoyed it up until now. You would think with so many comments of the same issue. They would fix it. Wanted to purchase another one but will not now because they cost too much for a couple of seasons.
Looks very nice in yard
I really like this spinner and looks substantial in the yard. Any wind makes it spin different ways. Just suggestion, make sure the nuts are tightened once in a while to the spinners.
This Steel Kinetic Wind Spinner looks great and has operated great partly due to the fact the fan blades are equipped with roller bearings and should last a long time. We have had some winds up to 55mph and no problem the wind fans just keep on spinning.
Wind Spinner Poles
I have two different wind spinners with the same problem. The poles completely bent. One I had for 17 months and the other 7 Months. They were not in an area where the wind was very strong. Since the warranty is only for a year they will only replace one of the sections of the one pole. What good is a spinner head without a pole to put it on? If you own any spinners, go out and check the poles before your warranty expires. I love the spinners but the poles are beyond awful.
