Pietra Italia Handmade Pasta Bowl By Doris Roberts
Special wedding gift
We ordered four bowls in Sicily and four in Tuscany and gave them to our daughter as wedding gifts so that she may entertain with these two mixed patterns that complement each other so well. She loves that they are made in Italy (and not China as so many are that we find in our dept. stores), and that they have rustic, Old World charm since they are handmade. The slight elliptical shape of all of those we received gives them character and reflects their authenticity. For all the work she puts into making her soups and pasta meals, it had to be these!
I do not get all the good reviews for this overpriced and small knickknack - the bowl is very warped and much smaller than I expected for the cost; I know it is made by hand but the basic shape of a bowl is something I would expect my teenager to accomplish in 1st year ceramics/pottery...and to think an artisan made this? Eekkkk
Works of Art
These bowls are fine works of art. I bought the Tuscany last year, then decided to get the Sicily and Venice a week ago because they came back in stock and I loved the Tuscany so much and used it a lot. Lovely painting on all of them it is hard to pick a favorite, but the Sicily is my current favorite. You can really see the hand craftedness of them, bowls are not perfectly round around the edges which shows the manual touches of spinning the clay, but mostly round don't get me wrong it is very subtle. I would recommend these pieces made in Italy to EVERYONE....I am so hoping Doris Roberts line continues to expand...it has been a year of nothing new so........ I also got the dinner plates in all three "flavors" now!
Beautiful art, but
I previously wrote review on this line. It is absolutely gorgeous. However, if the "signed" piece is of any importance to you; you are out of luck. Upon washing prior to use, the artist's "signatures" immediately washed away/disappeared. I will probably order more to finish the set., but I was shocked and completely disappointed at the loss of the artist's signatures especially at these prices. I hope the pieces themselves hold up better than their "ink".
Love lemons but would love Olives too!
Dear Doris, Love your lemon pasta bowl and I'm a collector too of Italian bowls, can you bring some with an olive motif? Oh! also would love to collect cotton towels with olives, lemons, things that would match back to your bowls!
When I saw these in the Insider, I marked my calendar for their on-air presentation. I ordered Venice and when I opened the box upon delivery, I was taken away by not only the beauty, but the remarkable craftsmanship. They are delicate yet sturdy enough I don't have to be afraid to handle them or use them for every day. I am keeping my fingers crossed my additional order, currently on wait list, can be met. Also, I would like to see this offered again and additional pieces introduced. You and Doris Roberts did a wonderful job QVC!
After debating between Sicily and Tusany, I decided on the Sicily and absolutely love it! The background of the bowls match my kitchen walls perfectly. These are substantial pieces, well worth the price, I only wish I could buy them all. Finally, something not made in China! Thank you Doris!
Beautiful and sturdy
These dishes are so gorgeous and they just happen to match my Temptations yellow polka dot dishes, so I can mix and match with a little whimsy. They are beautifully crafted. I feel like I am in Italy when I set the table with them.
I received this today in both the Sicily and the Tuscany patterns. I ordered one of each to use for serving bowls. They are both equally beautiful and very well made. The handpainting and glazing are done perfectly. I am so in love with the lemon pattern, that I am going to exchange the Tuscany for another lemon piece even though the Tuscany is beautiful and well made in its own right too. Guess I'm just a fruity person!! Great job Q on bringing in some high quality stoneware.
Now this is a pasta bowl
My mother and aunts had pasta bowls and platters from Italy. I have been looking for a real Italian pasta bowl for years. Not those shallow ones that we find in the U. S. that are made in China but a real pasta bowl. Well, this arrived and I am so pleased with this shape and size. You can easily toss one pound of pasta in this bowl without having the pasta up to the lip of the bowl, the pasta doesn't swim in the sauce because of the shape. It is also a beautiful piece to put on your table. Glad I purchased this and the matching pasta bowls. Hope to see more serving pasta bowls in different shapes. I would love a nice large oval, slightly deep, pasta platter for serving ravioli and meats that are in the sauce. Please add more to this line.
