Pentax DA 17-70mm F/4 Al SDM Zoom Lens 5 5 1 1
OH MY GOSH!!!! AWESOME!!!!! I love this lens more than all my others! This one is head and shoulders above the "kit" lenses you get with the camera! I have bought other specialized lenses like macro etc. but I really cannot believe the quality of shots you can get with this lens! The colors are unbelievable! I do some studio photography and this is the one for you if you do that too! I can get into a small studio area and then crop in the camera. I love it for low light pictures. It is a heavier lens and much bigger around than the kit lenses. You can tell you are carrying a pro lens with this one. While it is not weather resistant advertised it does have some weather sealing. I did read on the forums that this lens has had some auto-focus trouble in the past but Pentax was supposed to have taken care of that. Because I know I will make this lens my workhorse of my entire arsenal, I decided to get the camera insurance sold on the QVC web site. This handles mechanical problems and even clumsy photographer handling for 3 years. Now if this thing quits on me within a year I will get a replacement with no charge. I will say that I am a long time user of Pentax and I have had no problem ever with their product. They make the best "prime" lenses out there! 07-02-13
