Oval Morganite and Diamond Accent Ring, 14K Rose Gold is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Zero stars, if I could rate the ring honestly This ring arrived at my home late yesterday afternoon. By the time I turned in for bed, I determined that the ring is junk. First, the ring felt thin along the back of the band. As the evening progressed, I decided to hold the ring in front of the side of a burning white candle. It appeared that the ring's shank in the back was thin. Then, I proceeded to hold the ring in front of a bright white overhead light. Again, the ring appeared very thin in the back. I also noticed that my fingernail was catching along the back of the ring. When I finally pulled out my jeweler's loupe, the problems were immediately obvious. The ring has been stretched , or hammered, to a size 10, the size I require. I suspect the ring was originally a size 7, the industry standard. When I turned the ring on its side and put it under magnification, and when I held the stone at 6 o'clock, I could EASILY discern that the back band of the ring was thin from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock. The band of the ring is exceedingly thin from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock, very uneven in its thickness on one side of 12 o'clock, as compared to the other side of 12 o'clock. Also, there is a pit in the 14 kt rose gold at the back of the ring, which is why my fingernail was catching as I ran it over the outside back of the band. This ring, with tax and shipping cost more than $1,000.There is zero quality control! The ring, which was made in Thailand, was obviously manipulated by a jewelry apprentice. Junior league workmanship. Horrible, horrible. I do not want to be penalized with a poor quality ring because I happen to wear a size 10. No matter what the ring's size, from size 5 to size 10, all the bands should be the same thickness as far as the back band, and on either side of 12 o'clock.. There should be no hammering the gold of the band so that it becomes exceedingly thin at the back of the band. The diamonds that are set into the shank are small, from 1 point up to about three points. They are so dinky, so insubstantial that they are barely noticeable. The Morganite stone is big and noticeable, and has some color, a pale peachy pink, not richly saturated with color. However, it has been faceted with a shallow girdle. There is a large oval crown to the stone, top center. Under the crown, there is no faceting, so what one sees is just a clear pool of pale peachy pink. All the faceting lies under the girdle of the stone, in the pavilion of the stone. Here the sparkle, in a narrow outside oval of the stone, is brilliant. Catches the light, But the center of the stone is something of a dead pool as far as refracting light. I loved the contemporary setting, the simplicity of the design, the large center stone. I will take the ring to my local jewelers to see how much it will cost to make the ring right, in order to determine if QVC will pick up the repair cost, per a conversation early this morning with customer service. I will not reorder another ring in my size. If QVC will not pay the repair cost, then I will return this ring as soon as humanly possible to QVC's vendor. And this was to have been my birthday gift. Not worth the price at all. I would advise to stay away from this one!
