About QVC Sheets

Thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric. Thread count alone does not ultimately determine softness, but it does predict the weight and airflow of the fabric. All QVC sheet sets offer a minimum thread count of 300, with select sets measuring in with a thread count as high as 1,000.

Fast Facts
A sheet with a high thread count may not yield a softer sheet. Softness comes from a combination of factors including the weave, type of cotton, treatments (such as an anti-wrinkle coating), and thread count. Depending on the manufacturing processes, sheets that contain a thread count of 300-400 can be as soft or softer than one with a thread count of 1,000.

Traditional Blend
The traditional blend utilizes cotton's natural ability to allow fabrics to breathe and wick away moisture. This blend mixes long and short fibers when twisting them into threads.

Egyptian Cotton
Widely considered to be one of the highest qualities of cotton available, Egyptian cotton is grown in Egypt and consists of fibers which are longer, resulting in a silkier thread.

Supima® Cotton
This is the name used to promote textile and apparel products made with 100% American Pima cotton, grown in the southwestern United States. The staple length of Supima is 35% longer than regular cottons. This increases softness and luster. And since fewer fiber ends are exposed, it minimizes the effects of abrasion, resulting in less pilling. The Supima trademark is a registered trademark of Supima Association of America.

The type of weave and construction used for sheets can vary from ornamental to something functional. Variations in weave and fiber used in sheet construction will affect the characteristics of the cloth. Some fibers and constructions will breathe more and other combinations can keep you warm and cozy.

Sateen
Consists of a twill weave with threads layered over one another, exposing a longer thread on the fabric surface. Imparts a smooth, silky feel against the skin.

Percale
Made with a balanced and closely woven plain weave. The percale construction is both durable and smooth to the touch. Sheets made with 100% cotton percale feel smooth and crisp to the skin.

Pique
Pique sheets are designed to achieve a textured appearance with a soft touch. Its high and low texture is created during the knitting or weaving processes. Pique construction is made by spinning two yarns together to create a stronger yarn that's soft and supple.

Wrinkle Defense® Technology
The Wrinkle Defense process is designed to decrease the appearance of wrinkles for up to 50 wash cycles. It provides a durable, soft, and smooth sheet surface when the care instructions (included) are properly followed.

Flannel
Flannel is a material that's woven and put through a brushing process that lifts the threads to create air pockets that impart a soft and fuzzy feel. When comparing flannel sheets, look for weight rather than thread count. A quality flannel material is in the 5-6 oz range.

Jersey Knit
Threads in a jersey knit material are knit around one another rather than woven. This construction gives the fabric some stretch (or "give") for a soft and comfortable feel. It feels like sleeping in your favorite T-shirt!

Microfiber
Polyester is often used in this sturdy and durable material with manmade threads. It's also easy to care for, has fewer wrinkles than comparable sheets, and looks great with prints and bright colors. Sheet sets with a higher weight are often brushed for a soft, suede-like feel.

Polarfleece®
This fabric is soft, comfortable, warm, dries quickly, and is durable for long-lasting good looks.

Jacquard
Jacquard refers to both a type of loom weave and the cloth produced by such looms. The jacquard process allows for intricate designs and textures to be woven into the material itself.

Rayon
One of the oldest manufactured fibers dating back to the 1880s in France, rayon was originally developed as an alternate to silk and has a naturally smooth and soft texture. The material has strong moisture-wicking properties to help keep you cool and comfortable.

Northern Nights Emma SuperChunky Flannel FL Sheet Set 2 5 6 6
What Happened? I have 2 sets of the Northern Nights super chunky flannel sheets that I purchased back in 2007 & they are still "super chunky" & I have never found a pill one on either set. I absolutely LOVE them so I was happy when I received another set as a Thank You gift, but these are just aweful. I don't think there is even the tiniest spec that is not pilled, the pillow cases have shrunk up so much they don't even fit & they feel like regular cotton sheets instead of like the other super chunky flannel sheets I love. I know that the cost of things are going up but if a company raises prices they sure as heck need to be sure that the QUALITY of their products is STILL worth the bump in cost to the consumer. I am really disappointed that these are NOT worth what I know was paid for them. I know that sheets made in Portugal are high quality & wonderfully thick, so......WHAT HAPPENED? 09-28-12
Really disappointed I thought these sheets were nice until I put them on the bed. They have pilled an extreme amount. I was happy to read other reviews about the balls of flannel on the floor. I got these sheets for my two children and they look worse each time I wash them. I thought the pilling would stop .....no such luck. I will never buy sheets from Northern Nights again!! 06-11-12
SO DISAPPOINTED IN THESE!!!!!!!!!! Have purchased many Northern Nights products in the past, but this was the worst experience I've had! I was terribly disappointed in this sheet set! Even after washing thoroughly, I've never seen so much lint & pilling on a set of sheets ever! Even had little balls of pilled up lint in the floor surrounding the bed! Don't think I'll be interested in buying the "SuperChunky" version of flannel sheets anymore! Other Northern Nights flannel sheets have not been this way, & I've been very pleased with them. I'm going to get rid of these by giving to a charity organization or something. Not a good purchase for me. Sorry. 02-11-12
Great soft sheets !!! These sheets are very good,I'm buyings a second set because we like them so much! Quality is great and thick,I just wish the selection of colors was better.I highly reccomend these.Thank you QVC !!! 09-27-11
Not As Advertised Sorry Northern Nights. These are not the same chuncky flannel sheets that you have made in the past. The flannel is paper thin. I have a set of chunky flannel sheets that I purchased two years ago. Believe it or not, they are still in the package unopened. I bought them because I purchased the same set in a beautiful golden camel color. I bought the extra set because the color was so unusual and it matched my bedroom decor colors exactly. So I purchased an extra set and put them on the side. I figured when I wore out the first set, I could use the second spare set. Guess what? The package they come in is almost 2 inches wider and 2 inches longer then the Emma set I just purchased. So I know they are not the same quality. I know that cotton has exploded in price. I would be willing to pay more for the same sheets you used to make. I decided to keep these, but I will not be buying your sheets anymore. I have had so many problems with them. Even on your regular non flannel sheets, the shrinkage is so terrible, that I cannot get them on my bed. They need to be at LEAST 5 inches longer. I will be searching for another brand, even if I have to pay more, to get the quality. It would be worth it to pay more for sheets that I can use, verses trying to save money on something that I can't use. 09-18-11
Not the Same Super Chunky as Before? I purchased Super Chunky flannel sheets by NL last year..They were thick heavy wonderful flannel and I loved them. I expected the same with the title this year? Not the same sheets and thin flannel just like the regular stores. This line is totally different. If you want a lighter flannel , good. I will keep and use in the Fall and Spring as like the nuetral color but not what I expected.. NL is hit or miss lately? 09-10-11
