About QVC Sheets

Thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric. Thread count alone does not ultimately determine softness, but it does predict the weight and airflow of the fabric. All QVC sheet sets offer a minimum thread count of 300, with select sets measuring in with a thread count as high as 1,000.

Fast Facts
A sheet with a high thread count may not yield a softer sheet. Softness comes from a combination of factors including the weave, type of cotton, treatments (such as an anti-wrinkle coating), and thread count. Depending on the manufacturing processes, sheets that contain a thread count of 300-400 can be as soft or softer than one with a thread count of 1,000.

Traditional Blend
The traditional blend utilizes cotton's natural ability to allow fabrics to breathe and wick away moisture. This blend mixes long and short fibers when twisting them into threads.

Egyptian Cotton
Widely considered to be one of the highest qualities of cotton available, Egyptian cotton is grown in Egypt and consists of fibers which are longer, resulting in a silkier thread.

Supima® Cotton
This is the name used to promote textile and apparel products made with 100% American Pima cotton, grown in the southwestern United States. The staple length of Supima is 35% longer than regular cottons. This increases softness and luster. And since fewer fiber ends are exposed, it minimizes the effects of abrasion, resulting in less pilling. The Supima trademark is a registered trademark of Supima Association of America.

The type of weave and construction used for sheets can vary from ornamental to something functional. Variations in weave and fiber used in sheet construction will affect the characteristics of the cloth. Some fibers and constructions will breathe more and other combinations can keep you warm and cozy.

Sateen
Consists of a twill weave with threads layered over one another, exposing a longer thread on the fabric surface. Imparts a smooth, silky feel against the skin.

Percale
Made with a balanced and closely woven plain weave. The percale construction is both durable and smooth to the touch. Sheets made with 100% cotton percale feel smooth and crisp to the skin.

Pique
Pique sheets are designed to achieve a textured appearance with a soft touch. Its high and low texture is created during the knitting or weaving processes. Pique construction is made by spinning two yarns together to create a stronger yarn that's soft and supple.

Wrinkle Defense® Technology
The Wrinkle Defense process is designed to decrease the appearance of wrinkles for up to 50 wash cycles. It provides a durable, soft, and smooth sheet surface when the care instructions (included) are properly followed.

Flannel
Flannel is a material that's woven and put through a brushing process that lifts the threads to create air pockets that impart a soft and fuzzy feel. When comparing flannel sheets, look for weight rather than thread count. A quality flannel material is in the 5-6 oz range.

Jersey Knit
Threads in a jersey knit material are knit around one another rather than woven. This construction gives the fabric some stretch (or "give") for a soft and comfortable feel. It feels like sleeping in your favorite T-shirt!

Microfiber
Polyester is often used in this sturdy and durable material with manmade threads. It's also easy to care for, has fewer wrinkles than comparable sheets, and looks great with prints and bright colors. Sheet sets with a higher weight are often brushed for a soft, suede-like feel.

Polarfleece®
This fabric is soft, comfortable, warm, dries quickly, and is durable for long-lasting good looks.

Jacquard
Jacquard refers to both a type of loom weave and the cloth produced by such looms. The jacquard process allows for intricate designs and textures to be woven into the material itself.

Rayon
One of the oldest manufactured fibers dating back to the 1880s in France, rayon was originally developed as an alternate to silk and has a naturally smooth and soft texture. The material has strong moisture-wicking properties to help keep you cool and comfortable.

H12160 - Northern Nights Danica 1000TC 100% Cotton Sheet Set 3.5 5 28 28
Top Quality Sheets I purchased these sheets in the sage color and I just love the quality of these sheets. I do not understand the negative comments on these sheets. The quality of these sheets are outstanding. First of all the texture of these sheets I would describe as not soft but a smooth texture because of the high thread count. Yes these sheets are heavy and thick which you should expect from 1000TC top quality sheets. These are not 200TC or 300TC tissue paper thin sheets. That is why these are top quality sheets at an outstanding value for $74.88. You will not find 1000TC for this price and for the quality. This is why I went back and purchased the gold color before they sold out. I would definitely recommend these sheets to anybody. Now I know what is is like to sleep on 1000TC top quality sheets. 01-06-10
best sheets ever These sheets are so warm and heavy. They are like having a blanket on your bed. With these sheets I am so much warmer than with any other sheet set that I own. I will never buy sheets in a department store again. All my sheets are from Northern Nights at Q.V.C. 11-26-09
Nice Sheets these are indeed high thread count sheets which I like and enjoy, but the color is starting to fade (I bought the gold) after the second washing which indicates a possible quality issue. Just be aware and remember QVC has a generous return policy if you experience the same problem. 06-05-09
Firm but Fabulous Only the "Queen" is allowed on these sheets. They are great. 06-04-09
I'm a big fan of 1000TC sheets... I needed to replace my 1000TC sheets so I saw these on sale and thought I'd give them a try. They are nice and heavy but not even close to soft. I'm hoping that repeated washing and fabric softener will get them closer to how I like them. Right now I'm just wishing I had bought them at my local retail store instead! 05-28-09
Worst Sheets ever I have purchased several Northern nights sheets sets and was anxious to receive 1000 TC sheets. My utter disappointment in this product amazed even me. My husband described them as sleeping on an old Army tent. 05-16-09
The incredibly shrinking sheet I purchased these sheets and raved about them so much that I convinced my Mother to purchase a set as well. She did so two weeks later. Little did we know that after multiple washings the fitted sheet would shrink to the point that it takes propping one leg up on the edge of the bed and pulling with all of your might to get it over the mattress. The fitted sheet was a little loose to my liking when I first bought these, but I would gladly go back to loose in order to save another finger nail and avoid leg cramps. I have purchased many sets of Northern nights sheets and have always been extremely satisfied in my purchase. I wish I would have stuck with my first choice and not been drawn in by the 1000tc for $100.00. 05-13-09
NOISY I was really looking forward to sleeping on these sheets, but they were stiff and really noisy, I didn't sleep at all. I even washed them as soon as I received them. Obviously that didn't work. I would not recommend these sheets to anyone....save your money. 05-01-09
Quality Sheets - LOVE THEM I received my 1st set of these sheets a few weeks ago and liked them so much I bought a 2nd set. These are high quality sheets and can't beat the price. They are thick and heavy, but I believe that is what makes them high quality sheets. I would describe their texture to be "smooth" rather than "soft". Because of the high thread count the texture is a bit stiff which makes them very "smooth" rather than "soft". I washed them about 3 or 4 times (in cold water) to loosen them up and it worked. The only small issue I had with them is the fitted sheet is a bit tight on my Sleep Number King Bed and I had a hard time getting it on, but at least I know it's not going anywhere :-) I love these sheets and I wish Northern Nights would bring more to QVC in 1000 TC and in more colors!!! 04-29-09
The Best I love these shhets. I have always wanted 1000 TC sheets and I love these sheets and the price. I just came back for my second set. Thanks QVC. 04-29-09
The flat sheet issue.. I really like These Sheets! I know these are not for everyone because heavy and not softer like other sheets, The only problem is the flat sheet is too small... It is very difficult to put on a mattress...I will order another pair of sheets if the flat sheet has more space. 04-22-09
Thick and Heavy I received these sheets a few days ago and and cannot wait to return them. I have washed them twice hoping that they would improve. Firstly, the material is so thick and heavy I had trouble washing them. They are not soft and all, they feel like they are 200 thread count, not 1000. And lastly, they came out so wrinkled, that they were uncomfortable to sleep on. One night and I am done. Back they go. 04-21-09
