Rated 5 out of 5 by from Somewhat Different Use I live in a converted industrial building in Lower Manhattan that was built in 1894 (I'll do the math, that's 124 years old) with a manual elevator. Many years ago this was not out-of-the-ordinary for this part of New York, but today we are one of a small number of buildings with this arrangement. The elevator requires a driver and is operated on the honor system (the last tenant who used the elevator takes it to the next tenant who rings). Yes it's complicated but the system works (most of the time). In order to respond to the elevator bell, I have to be able to hear it. When the steam (heating system) is on, the windows are open, or the air conditioner is running, hearing the elevator bell can be challenging. Since I want prompt service, I strive to provide prompt service. Prior to purchasing the Ring Video Doorbell 2, I would prop the door open in order to hear the elevator. With the Ring Doorbell, I can open "Live" mode when I'm home with have the elevator on my floor and easily hear the bell, or if another tenant takes the elevator all while the door to my apartment is locked. This may be an unconventional use of the Ring, but it works for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Bad I agree with other reviewers. There is a delay sometimes in picking up who is outside. By the time it notifies you, the person has left. Also I had to charge my battery again within two weeks. They say the battery last 6 to 12 months, not the case. However, I do agree that it's better than nothing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Should Work Better Liked the idea of a surveillance doorbell, but am disappointed with it's performance. The video is not smooth, and sometimes doesn't start to film until person is headed away from the house. Occasionally, it doesn't even recognize someone approaching the front door. Purchased the wi-fi extender, but didn't really make a significant improvement. For something that has been out so long, it should have these "bugs" all worked out.

The images is very clear and even though it show black & white at night but it still shows very clear. I can see out to my street and across the street to the neighbors and more. This is the best camera I ever bought, now I'm buying the flood light camera. Thanks so much. If I had never watched the qvc show and see what it really does I would have never bought it, and is very easy to mount wherever you want to place it. I returned back my Swann video cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic itrm Who needs a security system when the ring door bell see s them coming , instead of waiting for a window or door to be breeched , it works so well will be purchasing the camera as well, can't get a better deal with the flex pay options Highly recommend this item , very easy to set up and operate It has already with the recorded Video and audio was able to notify the local utility company of the employees inappropriate behaviour and rude remarks, best thing is he was so unaware and the field supervisor was able to personally see how there employees act , best purchase made

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unreliable I've had three ring devices around my property now for the past 9 months... Lots of issues... 1- batteries last at most 2-3 weeks before needing to be charged 2- if your internet goes out, you will have to reset the button on the device all over again.. which is a problem if you're out of town. 3- live view doesn't work well.. server is overloaded and buffers alot 4- the motion sensor has a 20-30 sec lag...alot of the time by the time it starts recording the person has left already 5- and finally to top it off...i all of a sudden woke up one day and all of my saved videos had been erased on the cloud! I spent hours on the phone with their reps ( which know nothing!!) And no one had an explanation as to how that had happened!! If i could return my cameras and switch to a different system i would.. but unfortunately have too many devices and paid for the cloud for the whole year already.
