love my beast
I have used the beast on bike tires, both my son's have used the beast on their car tires. my husband did not know that I bought this, he now does and loves it!! both of my son's want a beast. great product.
I just ordered this item online and happen to see a previous review with the same problem my unit had. The flashlight container has AAA batteries which are very hard to put in and one flashlight is not working as the other reviewer said and the other one is.This unit went. back to qvc and I will give it a try once more and exchange but the flashlights are poor quality and I hope it's not a reflection of the unit itself because I know QVC has strict quality standards. But this new batch of March 2014 May have flashlight issues .
I am quite pleased with this product. I put it the test right away, so I would know what it is capable of handling. First, I added air to all four car tires. Two were much lower than I thought. I love that there is nothing to hold and no guessing involved. You just attach it, turn it on, and the display shows you what the air pressure is while it is pumping. Could not be easier! Second, the light on it is quite bright, so if you need to pump a tire or jump your car in the dark, it provides more than enough light to do so.
The true test came with the 110V outlets. I plugged in my surge protector with my cable and internet modems, wireless router, and a small 9-inch TV (I figured it would not handle my larger TV). I used my laptop and was active on the internet for almost three hours before the battery power dropped to the halfway point. In this time I also turned on the cable box and my TV for a few minutes at a time, like I might in an emergency situation. I added a small lamp for a bit, and it handled it with no problem.
This is a great product! I will recommend actually checking the battery level before charging it. I know it says to charge for like 36 hours or something, but mine was fully charged upon arrival. You can tell when it is charging because the battery level will flash, sort of like your cellphone does. When it is full, it will be solid red in the battery level area.
Got my Beast the other day. Although I am still waiting for the initial charge to finish, it seems as stated-except for one thing. The flashlights. They run only on 3 AAA battery power & not from the power of the unit, even when not hand held. When they are removed and are hand held they feel very cheap. In fact one doesn't work st all. Customer service is trying to replace only the flash light so I don't have to send the whole unit back. Will post another update with the resolution...
This item "knocked it out of the park !!"
Purchased the Beast as a Valentines Day gift for my husband. He really likes it and has investigated it from top to bottom. It will have so many uses. It is a winner here.
AMAZING! Saved Me During Ice Storm 2014
Saved me when I needed it most. Ice Storm 2014 devastated our area. I am a single parent with no family close by and my child away at college. Any car trouble at all is a major issue usually resulting in a garage sending a truck out - very expensive.
I lost power for only 1 day but was so thankful to have "The Beast". I was able to keep my cell phone charged and also a lamp and an induction hot plate to cook with. Never even caused the battery meter to drop more than one bar out of ten in the power meter.
When the weather finally cleared enough to be able to go to the store, I went to my car and found the back right tire ALMOST completely flat. I went to get my "Beast", the whole time thinking how hard the rubber on the tire was going to be (temperature was 29 degrees F.) and how the instructions said I should have to use a jack to lift the car off the ground in order for it to fill with air...hoping for the best.
I removed the air hose and attached it to the valve stem. The tire pressure was at 2lbs or 0 lbs. I pushed the "On" button and hoped for the best. The "Beast" fired right up and after 10-15 seconds I saw no change. Then I saw the needle begin to move. It took about 4-5 minutes to fill my tire but it did, all the way to 35 lbs. I added some extra incase I had more than a slow leak. By the way, the battery power meter never dropped a bar.
I am sure "The Beast" will work as well if I need to jump start my car. The feeling of independence and confidence this little "Beast" has given to me is immeasurable. I truly feel that it is a Must Have for every household especially a single woman.
right on time
I received the Beast on the morning the great ice storm of 2014 hit SC, and got it charged up right before the power went out for a week. Used it as a light source and kept the two cell phones and laptop charged up. Very useful and convenient.
I bought two of these Beasts however both of them had problems. The first that I sent back just wouldn't work only finding out when it was needed. It was replaced. The second one wouldn't charge because the plug kept retracting into the casing. I think it's a great tool but two out of two with problems is not a good track record. I would suggest that you try every possible function to make sure it works the way it's suppose too. Disappointed with the track record and inconvenient to continually return.
very heavy heavy
bought this to just have just incase a hurricane hit and needed something extra for like fans and or to charge things.. but kinda heave for being a lilttle guy..
EXCELLENT EMERGENCY ITEM
I"m very glad I purchased this item, it works exactley as stated, I have a large SUV, and it had no problems, putting air into my tires, the unit appears to be well made, and very well thought out, I highly reccomend it to you
Did not work on car.
Had to use another car to jump off our vehicle; this item was fully charged, but unfortunately was not strong enough to jump off our car's dead battery. We are giving it 2 stars for the other features it will work on with less power requirements, but wanted to warn people to have a stronger back-up in case of emergency. Really needed this to work in 20 degree, 6 a.m. weather this morning!
