Rated 1 out of 5 by Stradify May be great, but not for Android
My wife bought this for my birthday. I am pretty tech savy, and I just could not get it to work. I was reading through the internet material on the MIO website, and it says that it is not longer compatible with Android since April 2014. Try something else I guess.

I have been looking for an alternative to the standard heart rate chest strap which feels uncomfortable while racing. The Mio Velo works great and is very comfortable. I don't notice it is there. Appears to track well with my chest strap so is also pretty accurate. It is still new but looks like a winner to me.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Barton Stopped working almost as soon as I got it.
Opened box, charged it, successfully paired with both Garmin Fenix 3 watch & Bryton Rider 60 bike computer. Then turned on Mio app. on my phone & immediately asked to update firmware; agreed & process began. After 40 minutes it was still going on & blue light would not change & the unit would not switch off. Now does not work at all, blue light still on.

Has difficulty in connecting to iPhone 6s, On the IPhone it shows that it is connected via Bluetooth but on the app it shows "nearby" but fails to connect almost 90% of the time
Rated 1 out of 5 by ealef Used Velo for 10 bike rides. HR monitoring is irregular and volatile. Max HR recording is wrong. I have tried it on back and front of both wrists. No difference. I wish it worked better. Back to the strap.
Rated 2 out of 5 by JLBerkeley Amazing idea, if it worked properly
This looked like the ideal product for me. I wanted to track my heart rate, link to my bike computer, but also be able to see what zone I'm in at a glance. I REALLY wish it worked but it's been consistently inconsistent. My chest strap will monitor around 160 and the Velo is saying I'm between 185 (and sometimes 200?!) It seems to work great walking around the house, but for physical activity it's not working for me at all. I hope they get it figured out because this COULD be great. 2 stars because it does monitor your heart rate, and it does connect to my phone and computer. Just not accurately...which is the point.

Given that this item is in the premium price band I'm disappointed that it only works with limited functions with Android app. Great with my Ant Cateye 51 recording HR and with Apple iPad but no go button for activity recording when using Android phone, only HR. Don't really want to carry an iPad in my back pocket when cycling. Looking at other reviews, HR does vary in the first 0-5 mins, I know what it feels like to be at 180. I do like using this instead of a chest strap and the charging method. Great use on a fixed spin bike using iPad recording interval session. Please sort out the Android phone.

I've pulled the device off the charger which is an awkward unit in itself numerous times only to find the battery not fully charged. The main issue is that on longer rides the unit seems to shut off on itself midway through the ride. I seem to not notice that it happens and when I finish the ride, it looks like I flat lined.
