Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating and ineffective! Bought this from a clearance house now owned by QVC for my eight year old granddaughter, in order to introduce her to the basics of sewing, as she is greatly interested in learning. She came over today for several hours for her sewing lesson with Grandma, and we spent an hour and a half just untangling the knotted bobbin thread, putting the bobbin casing back in the correct position, and generally sighing a lot out of frustration! The "machine" (and I use that term loosely in this review) is made entirely of plastic, including the working parts. The mechanics shift around a lot, and cause the needle to jam. I am an experienced seamstress with more than fifty years of sewing under my belt. I have worked with dozens of different brand machines, none of which functioned as poorly as this one. My recommendation: do not purchase this item. As another reviewer stated, save your money for a few months and buy a real sewing machine. My granddaughter was very disappointed, as was I. Whatever happened to product testing before signing the contract to sell the item on QVC?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Money Our granddaughter is a cosplayer and was given this "machine" for Christmas a couple years ago. It isn't designed with actual construction projects in mind. Perhaps the creators imagined consumers would use it for repair of a small hole in a seam or part of a hem. Unfortunately for our granddaughter, her machine never worked. The problem was not something that could be fixed, imo, This device is intended to be a handy little sewing machine, but in reality seems to be evidence of what could have been a kernel of a good idea to begin with, but which was so haphazardly designed or grievously overworked as to make it completely unusable. None of the mechanical parts worked at all on her machine. And the idea of placing a bobbin on the machine's exterior as a spool substitute is a series of malfunctions and complications just waiting to happen. I would urge anyone considering buying this little machine to instead save this amount of money each month for 4 or 5 months and then purchase a real, basic, good-working sewing machine. The others offered by QVC are decent quality machines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Wow, it is so.....small." Honest enough, when I got my sewing machine in the mail I thought- "What the heck?" - but after using it to hem my drapes and fix a couple of little items that were needing to be fixed (lying about in the house) I love it! It is small, and yes I duct-taped it to the table, but it works fine for small straight stitch jobs, as far as a reverse- I lift the foot and spin the fabric around and I have the reverse I need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase I bought this machine a few years ago. It was just what I wanted. I take it camping with me and use it to make tops for my towels. It's great for little projects. My only regret is that it doesn't have a reverse.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from regret This is a little light weight for any actual sewing. Has no weight to keep it from moving as you are trying to use it. Feels like a toy. gave it away to teen who wanted to play around w/ it.
