Rated 5 out of 5 by Noah's Ark Play Set This is for grand-daughter who will be two in several months. I think she will love it as it will help with her imagination play and role playing. It will be such a delight for me to give it to her. 03-09-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by Fun but... Since my son was 1 year old, he has loved playing with the animal pieces, lining them up, etc. However, as a shape sorter, this really doesn't work great--some of the opening are so big, that he figured out he could put the smaller pieces inside the bigger holes! I do love that it is Noah's Ark and that he loves playing with it, but it doesn't necessarily work as a shape sorter. Though it does teach problem solving skills (where to put a piece if it doesn't fit somewhere). 11-30-15
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a Shape Sorter! This product is cute, durable, well made. It is not a shape sorter though! The holes for the animals are so big that any animal can fit into almost every hole. When I pick it up to clean or move it, animals fall out. The picture makes it look like the animals fit into a spot and they will stay there but that is not the case. When you open it you will see that it is packaged to look that way but really it is just a big mess. 02-21-15
Rated 1 out of 5 by shapes fall thru & easy to turn sideways The pieces fall through the holes and do not rest in place as shown on the M&D photos of the toy, which show each piece staying in place like a puzzle to be completed. As a shape-sorter it is not challenging since every piece fits in every hole -- just turn it sideways. With no little knobs on the pieces, toddlers hold them sideways anyway. Toy fails to challenge or satisfy. Toddler liked matching up the pairs of animals, but once the pieces went in the ark, the giant cut-outs let them fall right out which frustrated her. 01-08-14
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing Because the shapes are thin they will go through any hole. I thought this would be great for my daughter who has autism, as she is good with puzzles and other shape sorters. But the design is poor and there is no challenge or learning 12-26-13
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent toy! This product was a gift for my one and two year old children and we have found it to be an excellent toy. Neither of them are old enough to understand the shape sorting aspect but almost all animals will fit through any of the openings which they love and it has 2 doors on elastic hinges which they love to open and close. There are ALOT of animals, many more than I expected to see. The only things I didn't like was that it was made from particle board, a cheep product made from compressed sawdust which expands and warps if it ever gets wet. I would have liked to see it made of solid wood, aswell it would be great if the pictures of the animals were printed on both sides of each figure. But all in all a great toy! 12-18-13
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bummer! We have a TON of Melissa & Doug toys that we love. This is the first one I have ever purchased where they really missed the mark. The first & biggest issue are the 2 doors. When you pull them open the retract back due to an elastic attachment. Not only did it pinch my child's finger but, it also snapped shut on mine too and let me tell you..it HURT! Then, my toddler, who was sitting on his knees playing with it, lost his balance and hit his face on the corner and it's pretty darn sharp. (Other Arks I have researched today are all rounded on that outer edge). So safety is my biggest complaint by far. But, there are 3 more issues browsers should be aware of: #1.) The colors are NOT as advertised. Not even close. In the picture online and even the picture on the bottom of the product...the colors look bright & vivid. The product I received had muted/faded colors that are very different than what was shown. Most of the animals look a little greenish because they are printed over the blue block I guess. The roof is a dark maroon instead of a bright red. The ocean water looks faded etc. #2.) You can fit just about any animal into any hole, making the "shape sorting" aspect pretty useless until they are too old to even care about shape sorting. It would have been better w/ out that feature and with a way to lift the roof and have 2 levels to put the animals on...a way to simply play pretend. #3.) The ark is not even real wood! It's made of particle board! All in all...a very disappointing toy from Melissa & Doug that does not live up to their reputation. 09-23-13
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Toy I purchased this for my grand daughter for her first Christmas. She is almost a year old now, and has loved playing with it since I got it for her. It's a wonderful toy and it remains useful and fun as she grows. 07-24-12
