Masterbuilt Smokehouse 3 Rack Electric Smoker with Cover
easy to use, love it!
Got this for my husband. He is so hard to buy for. He now wants to smoke everything! He made ribs, vegies and mac and cheese all in the smoker the other night! Hey if you can get them to do the cooking it's worth it. Everything has tasted great!
It's Worth The Purchase
I ordered this smoker for my boyfriend hoping I had picked a wonderful birthday gift, and I must say he was very well pleased. Although, he had a few problems with the temperature gauges Masterbuilt customer service was excellent and sent the things he needed right away with no problems. Overall, he has truly enjoyed it and he has smoked a turkey so far, and it was delicious.
Great buy for the money. We have used it to smoke pork and chicken. Very easy to use.
We truelly love this smoker! We will be using it a lot...:)
A Perfect Gift
Watching In The Kitchen With David with John McLemore (Jan 28th) when my wife asks, "would you like this for your birthday?" It was a simple reply, "yes."
The unit arrived on Feb 3rd, two days ahead of the projected date. I was really impressed with the quality of the smoker. It was easy to put together and all parts fit as designed. Seasoning was a breeze. There was just one issue with this ... the instructions. The ones with the unit did not match the ones on the QVC website. Having done a lot of smoking with a much smaller smoker only unit I opted for the instructions on the QVC by not soaking the chips. My recommendation from experience is don't soak. I contacted Masterbuilt and related the discrepancies with the instructions and they stated "no soak." I was thanked, and told that they would be making corrections.
First use as a smoker/cooker was a salmon for dinner today (Feb 8). The mat worked perfectly and cleaning was easy. I let the unit come up to temp and start smoking before I put in the salmon. I used apple chips and a Chipolte Crusted Salmon recipe I found on Allrecipes. l have smoked my share of fish, but this was beyond delicious.
The unit is heavy and if you have to move in much, it could be a challenge for some. My recommendation to Masterbuilt was to include a wheel and leveler package with the unit. Even as an option it would help some. I would prefer to have a removable drip tray that could be removed and cleaned. I didn't like the drippings falling in the water container and on top of the chip tray.
There are only two parts that could fail and cost you a few dollars. The controller and the element. Both cost about $35 including shipping. I purchased a 3 year warranty for a little over $20 from an online company. I insure most of my electronics, and household items with this company.
Please take most of the negative reviews on the internet with a grain of salt. I had no issues whatsoever. Reviews like no smoke - soaked chips for 24 hours, no smoke at 225* - using chunks are quite common on may blogs/review sites. If you have a problem give customer service a chance to make it right.
I am really looking forward to a chicken and a brisket in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks to my Honey for an awesome present!
Bought mine a year ago and I LOVE IT. I cook ribs that are great. Did the Christmas Turkey and Ham this year and everyone loved it.
Great For The Money
As I type this, I have 3 full slabs of pork spare ribs smoking in this smoker....smells great! We've also smoked a chicken and some kielbasa in it. Everything's great so far!! Having some issues today with the temperature dial on the front not registering accurately, so put in a remote temp probe to monitor the actual temp. Makes me wish for the digital model....someday! But for now, this is a great little smoker for the money!!
Great Product And Service
I purchased this smoker three years ago. It has been one of my favorite purchases. Heating element went out after a year. Masterbuilt sent me a replacement right away. Customer Service was excellent. I couldn't have asked for any better service.
Lots of Fun to Cook With!
This smoker is very easy to use and provides great results. Smoked a 15 lb. turkey this past Thanksgiving - best, juiciest turkey ever. Hours later, slicing into the breast of the turkey, juices were running out. Smoked a 10 lb. prime rib for our annual Christmas Eve dinner party - folks were speechless it was oh, so good! However, my only concern is that for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, the meat came up to temperature and was done two hours before the Masterbuilt Dadgum That's Good, Too cookbook I ordered said it would be done. Needless to say, that wrecked a little havoc trying to get everything else on the menu done well before planned. Now that I know this, it is easier to plan the rest of the dinner menu to accomodate this situation. You must have a digital meat thermometer that you can put into the meat and observe the temperature from the outside of the smoker since heat significanatly diminishes when you open the smoker door. The latch on the smoker door does not close properly, but we rigged up a way to keep the latch horizontal and closed with florists wire. Enjoy this product, despite the door latch problem. Hope that it continues to work properly, give the problems others have noted in their reviews, though.
The Best Little Smoker
Purchased this smoker for my hubby's birthday a few months ago. Living here in Texas, it seemed a sacrilege not to have one. He's enjoyed smoking different cuts of meats and we haven't met a cow, pig or chicken we've not liked since. Also purchased the cookbook "Dang That's Good Too" and the smoker chips.
Masterbuilt customer service was excellent in handling my replacement order for the power cord that I misplaced.
Highly recommend this product!
bought mine year ago the controller fried today good luck on me getting any help
