Rated 3 out of 5 by from needs handles I purchased this to steam fresh veggies and it does awesome but it needs handles its hard to grab a hot slick glass container out of the microwave without getting burnt, My microwave is above the stove not sitting on the counter and that makes a huge difference. Other than that this is a great product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my best purchases from QVC And I have bought a LOT over the years -- clothes, shoes, gardening tools, flowers, jewelry, Bare Minerals, gifts, electronics, vacuums, dishes and cookware, food, etc. My favorite use is to make salmon in the larger dish and steam asparagus in the smaller one (I do cut the stalks in half) -- done in 2-1/2 minutes and 2 minutes, respectively. These aren't big enough to use for a family of six, but fine for one or two people. So quick. "Slits"/openings (or handles) at the top of the narrow sides of the glass would make these easier to grab, but otherwise I am very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Microwave Steamer Set Wonderful to steam leftovers in the microwave. Also, larger size is great for cooking regular rice in microwave, Use the steamer insert to reheat leftover rice. Fantastic!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Read Reviews before buying Please read reviews before purchasing. I found the same issues. Too many restrictions when using these items. Glass containers heavy before adding food. Need to take lid apart to clean, deep channels are difficult to clean and dry. Looking to simplify not more work. To return- weighs over 6 pounds. Using the label $8.95+ original $5.50 shipping charge= $14.45 in shipping costs!! Return label was paper, not a sticker. VERY disappointed!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from great idea but insert has problems 1-The small set's insert is very very small. 2-After microwaving an apple desert in the 4 3/4 size, the sugar topping stuck to the little holes, leaving a rough surface on the liner's sides. Liquid from that apple desert dripped down through the holes, melting the insert. 3-The enclosed instructions differed from the video; recommending a minimum of 1/4" layer of liquid; not the 2 to 3 tablespoons shown in the video.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from "Do Not" The insert says:"When using a magic steam insert, place approximately 1/8"-1/4" of water into bottom of glass dish, making sure bottom of dish is completely covered with water". "DO NOT replace the water with any other liquids such as juice, wine, oils or stock". "Using more than the recommended amount of water in cookware may result in liquid boil-over and cause product failure, property damage, or serious personal injury". "DO NOT leave food in microwave unattended while cooking with your Magic Chef Magic Steam microwave cookware....". "Use only wood or plastic utensils, as metal utensils or sharp knives may scratch and weaken glass." All the components, even the glass dishes are top rack only dishwasher safe. You can store food in it in the freezer or the refrigerator, "but DO NOT take directly from cold storage to microwave. Always allow cookware to come to room temperature before microwaving". I quoted right from the insert. Which lists many more "DO NOT" instructions. I wish the presenters had mentioned even a few of these DO NOTS. I got this at a "SPECIAL" price but it requires too much special care & QVC has better options.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No handles, small work area Well, I had been looking for a steamer set in glass for awhile. I was excited to get this. I have used it several times, and now it sits in my cupboard--one more wasted effort. Why? The glass containers have no handles. When full with water and food, coming out of the microwave the glass is HOT. Without the handles it is very difficult to lift. Sure I use pot holders, but like with Temp-tations, the handles make all the difference in ease of use. Also, the inside basket surface area is quite small, even in the larger one Barely enough room for food for two people whether it is fish or veggies. So it will go to good will the next time I make a sweep. Too bad. Good idea, poorly executed.
