M22344 - Lightweight Electric Cultivator with 4 Tilling Blades
You impressed me...
I opened the box and saw plastic and didn't hold out much hope for my clay-like top soil, but put it together and decided to water my garden good before using. Luckily we had a weekend of rain. I waited a day and went out this morninig to give my new toy a try. WOW...like a hot knife thru butter! It dug up the soil and pulled up the weeds and didn't chug or feel slow once. I love this little garden-size rototiller! I did a smaller garden by hand pre-watering and it took me 2-1/2 hours. I did a garden twice the size this morning w/my new toy in 40 minutes. Wow!!!
That said, there are 3 minor things I noticed that made me drop it a star. First, only 3 of the 4 screws actually had the holes lined up properly, so I have a spare screw. Lucky it's sturdy enough with just the 3 screws. Second, there was no manual shipped with it. It's simple to use so really not needed, but now I have no manufacture information should I need a replacement part. I don't like that. And finally, the hole that we're supposed to put the extension cord thru to loop to keep the unit from coming unplugged while you're using it is not large enough for the outdoor extension cord. This is a design flaw that could be easily fixed. Fix those 3 things and this is a wonderful garden tool.
I had tried to start a cottage flower garden in the corner of an old barn on our property using a shovel and a hoe to try to work up the ground. After hurting myself using these tools I searched for something else to use. (my husband has a roto tiller but knew I would not be able to handle that.) I saw this on qvc and thought this might help me out. Well it worked GREAT!! I was able to till up all the weeds and grass with this little tool without using any effort on my part at all the machine did all the work. I was able to work up half the area (it's a fairly large garden I am making) in just a few hours when it took me weeks to try to do it by hand with no progress. I am very happy with this tool and look forward to finishing my garden. The only thing I don't like about it is that you have to hold the ON button. I just wished there was an ON /OFF switch as my hand gets tired holding it.
A powerful little tiller
I purchased this a few years ago to start a garden and to seed dead grass areas. I thought for the cost not much to lose. I started in the garden and was immediately pleased with this tool. Great for small gardens but powerful enough to handle larger gardens. It really tore up dead grass spots. Very light weight. Excellent for the money....don't pass it up!
Nice Little Cultivator
I have had this Cultivator for a couple of years and love it. If you use it exactly as intended, it will do the job for you. It's great for my small garden and flower beds.
THE BEST TILLER
I HAVE HAD THIS FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW,IT WORKS GREAT I HAVE HAD BACK SURGERY AND THIS LITTLE THING IS THE AWESOME.IT HAS WORKED EVERYTIME I'VE USED IT,NO PROBLEM.YOU WANT GO WRONG.THIS THING IS A WORK HORSE.
don't buy it
I got this last year, it is to light weight to turn the ground over. My yard has a lot of clay & it will not break the ground. I have tried it on my current flower garden, useless. I waited to late to return it.
Junk; died in 5 minutes
Worked, stopped, worked, DIED after about 5 minutes. Piece of garbage. Waste of time. Great idea, too bad it doesn't work. I used it ONLY on screened topsoil and peat!!
We just tried this elec. cultivator & my wife used it on tramped down hard ground & had no trouble at all to grind the ground up to plant. She is only 5 feet tall & had no trouble caring it or using it. First mve it while running back for a while then forward & it don't jump around. She loves it & so do I. I first thought no way would this work on hard tramped down ground, but I was fooled. I thought with the 30 guarentee if it didn't work, I'd send it back for full refund. Guess what, we're keeping it!
Works very well!
I took a chance and ordered this tiller. It arrived very fast from QVC (several days before it was expected!). I live in Portland, Oregon and had to wait a few days before testing this due to all the rain we had in April. I used this tiller on my last years vegetable garden beds that are long, narrow and against a wooden fence. Large tillers would not be able to get in there very well as it is an odd shape. This tiller is just what I needed! It broke up that heavy compacted clay garden bed of mine. I then used it to add / mix in peat moss and compost with the clay soil. It works better than I imagined! This did such a good job that I decided to make another garden bed of 5 X 10 feet on my property. After I removed the sod in this new area, I was able to easily break and till up the new bed with this awesome tiller. Just be sure you remove all grassy heavy sod clods and that the ground has had no heavy rain for at least 2 days. This will do what it advertises. I just love it!
SAVE YOUR MONEY! TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK! TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!
