Can I use an attachment on any model mixer?
All the attachments that work off the attachment hub will work on 4 1/2, 5 and 6-quart stand mixers. The flat beater, wire whip and dough hook — which come with each mixer — are not interchangeable. The dough hook, wire whip and flat beater for the 4 1/2-quart mixer do not work with the 5-quart model. Similarly, the dough hook, wire whip and flat beater for the 5-quart stand mixer do not work with the 4 1/2-quart model. The water jacket is the only attachment that is exclusive to a bowl-lift mixer, 5 or 6-qt model, and will not work with the 4-1/2-quart stand mixer.
What are the attachments made of?
The white molded plastic is a Celcon material and is top rack dishwasher safe.
Why can't I use attachments on the "commercial" model mixer?
Use of the attachments do not meet the NSF standards for food service use. However, you may choose to use the attachments on the commercial mixer if it is used in a home setting.
ROTOR/SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT (RSSA) QUESTIONS
What kind of jobs can I do with a rotor/slicer/shredder attachment?
Use this attachment on firm vegetables, fruits and cheeses to slice or shred, cut thick to thin, and to process fine to coarse. The handles are used to gently press the food into the slicing area of the cone. No force should be applied. Use speed 4 while processing.
How should I keep this attachment clean?
All components are top rack dishwasher safe.
My cones look dull. Are they supposed to be sharp?
The cones are not sharp to the touch; the rotating action of the rotor/slicer/shredder attachment cones provides the cutting action.
The shaft part is hard to attach and release. Any suggestions?
To release the clutch and shaft from the rotor/slicer/shredder attachment housing cone, you can wrap a towel around the cone and insert the end of the shaft into the square peg hole in the housing of the attachment. Turn clockwise (right) to release and counterclockwise (left) to tighten.
