Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke way to easy This bowl broke by simply tapping the top of it. I would not recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bowl accessory I have owned the glass bowl for my stand mixer for about 6 or 7 years. Not sure what happened with the others whose bowls broke but I have been very happy with mine, perhaps damaged in shipping or user error. Also, I am not sure how others over-tightened theirs. It is not required to be super tight, just enough to keep it from moving up and down, the threads will keep it from moving side to side. The plastic screw base does not need to be tightened too much as it needs to be removed for the dishwasher or microwave. The amount of light it lets in compared to the stainless steel bowl is nice and I prefer it for most mixing jobs. Except for whipping cream, etc, since the stainless freezes better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke very first day! Got the KitchenAid stand mixer as a gift from my mother - came with the glass bowl. Well it broke the very first day. The bottom broke inside the plastic ring that it comes with. There were tiny pieces of glass everywhere. Now looking more closely at the bowl I can see a small hairline crack in the side, came out of the box like that. I haven't even used it yet, was just setting it up to put on my counter. Will be calling customer service about a replacement, but so disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 5-Qt Glass Bowl w/Handle and Lid This fits but does not fit securely on my mixer, because it is not a tilt-head; but I put some of those temptations flower cut outs for packing dishes or bowls so they are not glass on glass and it held up pretty well - I especially like having the lid so I can cover or refrigerate and return later to complete a project.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile, On & Off Mixer: Needs a Learning Curve to Remove To give me more bowl options and to be able to microwave (after removing the rubber threaded bowl bottom), refrigerate, and freeze foods that I have used in my Artisan, I got a great deal on a KitchenAid 5-Qt. Tilt-Head Glass Bowl with Measurement Markings and Lid (K5GB), to store foods in the refrigerator. This glass bowl, unlike the metal bowl from India that comes with the unit, will never shed any metal bits. It also gives me double bowl space for different foods that are used in the same or different recipes. The bowl, however, is heavier than the 'stainless steel' bowl, and some buyers have had theirs crack and/ or break. I also use mine as a huge mixing bowl, so I'm constantly using it off of my mixer, too. I had an issue with my bowl: it screwed on fine, but it wouldn't unscrew. After viewing an online video of another buyer's same problem, I learned that if I counterintuitively TIGHTENED the bowl FURTHER, the bottom rubber bowl threads popped out it out from the mixer bowl base! (Note that some Artisans come with the glass bowl as part of their standard package. Pro 600s, however, don't come a glass bowl at all, but a glass bowl package can be purchased separately.) Note: KitchenAid should create a glass bowl that doesn't shatter but is also lighter and can also accommodate a pouring shield. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cracked Bottom Used three times and loved it. Handwashed each time, bowl and stand ring separately, and thought somehow thought my luck would be different. Went to take it off the stand for use #4. It was a little harder to disengage, but not alarmingly so. Lifted it up and small shards of glass were all over the stand. Took the stand ring off- more shards of glass fell out from the ring thread. So frustrating. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broke after using a few times I got a kitchenaid mixer with the glass bowl for christmas. I kept it in the box for a long time because I did not want my roommates to use it and break it. After moving into my own place I was extremely excited to start using my mixer! It worked great for a couple of months. Then one day I was lifting the bowl out of my mixer and half of the bowl completely shattered as I was lifting it out!!! Shards of glass went everywhere and a large chunk fell on my foot and cut it open :( I have loved kitchenaid since I was a little girl using my mom's mixer. I am very disappointed in the quality of the glass bowl. I know now why my mom always opted for the metal bowl! Although it is pretty, I would NOT recommend the glass bowl to anyone! Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love it being glass, but it BROKE! I received this as a gift from my mother-in-law because you need a glass bowl to make the perfect mint meringue cookies (a family tradition). Was so excited to use, but after just a few uses, it got a huge crack in it and is no longer usable. Super bummed... (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)
