Rated 1 out of 5 by Tweety913 Pilling is an Abomination
Sadly, I bought two of these coats at full price because I thought they looked warm, and the colors were beautiful. That being said, I am not at all surprised by the fact that it's on clearance. Because the pilling on these jackets is a complete disgrace to the Joan Rivers line. Both my jackets, are completely filled with strings of white fibers. And this began to occurr even before the first washing. (Of course, when I did wash it, I followed the washing instructions to a tee, but it only made the pilling worse.) I tried pulling the pilling off, because the jacket looks so bad and sad with all these fibers hanging out. Still the more you try to remove, the more they seem to appear. And I realize it's because, once these little holes have been made, the more the inner filling on the jacket keeps coming out. At any rate, I now feel sad every time I have to wear this jacket, because the jacket is so sad-looking, it makes me feel like a "raga muffin" or "street urchin"....NOT pretty and dignified at all.
I usually trust the Joan Rivers line. But this sad jacket is the exception. And if I were the CEO of this line, I would gladly take the hit of returning everyone's money who asked for compensation, just to stand by the integrity of the line. Because this jacket is an abomination. So much so, that even buying it at a clearance-price, is so NOT worth it. Please, ladies, don't be fooled by this clearance. Because in the end, you will regret it.

Usually wash everything before wearing. In this case I didn't. Been putting off washing it because of weather going from warm to cold - back and forth. Finally Spring and decided to wash it today. Can't believe the same thing happened to my jacket. I got it in the green and I hung it up to dry and the whole jacket is covered with white strings coming out of outer material. Started pulling on them to rid the jacket of them and the strings just kept coming and coming. I am so surprised. I have purchased so many, many things of Joan's and always top quality. Will wait for this to dry and see what I can do with it This jacket cost too, too, much money for this to happen.

I purchased this jacket in December. Since I live in Texas, I thought this would be the perfect coat and as a plus it has a hood. It is now March and the fiber lining is working its way out of the coat and is all over the outside of it. I am very disappointed as this was not a cheap or bargain purchase and it is obviously way too late to return. Would love Customer Service to contact me.

same problem as others with white batting pilling through black outer material. With only about one months use and I paid full price... NOT HAPPY!!! One star just because the style was nice. For well over $100, I should have gotten at least two years use out of this!

I hate big bulky winter coats. This was perfect. Lightweight yet warm. material is water repellant. And it has a hood! Highly recommended.
Rated 5 out of 5 by gigi2013 Lightweight yet very, very warm!
I love this coat and it fits perfectly. I am a petite and so am always hesitant when buying regular sizes. The sleeves are usually way too long and I have to roll them up. The sleeve length is perfect. I also like the fact that this coat snaps rather than zips. I leave the last snap open when driving and it's very comfortable--not cumbersome. It's not boxy either--the strings are at the waistline and I just pulled them in to make the coat more fitted. A lot of winter coats are heavy on the shoulders, but not this one. This coat is very lightweight, yet very, very, warm.

Firstly, I love the coat, the style, the fit, and the color. I have the brown, and it is a great jacket. Reading the reviews concerning the appearance of "pilling" due to the insides coming throuh the outer fabric has me worried. It seems to have happened to quite a few buyers after wearing the jacket a while. This would be so disappointing. I'm wanting to keep it, but worried by these reports. Joan's fashions are usually top quality, so I know they did not anticipate the issue. What to do?? h
If it were not for this concern, I would give the jacket five stars. This just slipped through cracks, I am sure. I buy many of Joan's fashions and all have been top rate.
