The Inspiration Behind Joan's Signature Bee Pins

Joan Rivers shared the inspiration behind her signature bee pins with her dear friend, David Dangle. Although bees are not aerodynamically suited for flight, they manage to buzz around, pollinating the world. That's why they're viewed as achieving the impossible, just as Joan Rivers did. Rated 5 out of 5 by Reminds me of Hawaii I'm traveling to Hawaii next year and thought this would look great on some of my outfits for work. I love Joan's creations and this is my 1st bee pin. I've worn it already and and have received compliments. Can't wait to wear in Hawaii 04-25-16
Rated 2 out of 5 by Like Plastic I have several JR bee pins, and can confirm that this was made by a different vendor from inferior materials. I thought it would snap into pieces if I pressed hard. Going back. 04-22-16
Rated 2 out of 5 by cute but stone already fell out after wearing 1x The pin is very cute. It has a golden greenish glimmer. Unfortunately, one of the light green stones already fell out after 1 wearing, and now I am stuck with a defective pin. What a disappointment. Note I returned the first pineapple bee pin because it was missing a stone. I should have known not to take a chance and recorder. Where is the quality???? 12-08-15
Rated 3 out of 5 by Very pretty This pin is really pretty but as another reviewer noted, the gold is not as bright as other Joan bees. It is more matte and almost reminds me of a matte light rose gold. Unfortunately the pin I received had glue on the wing so I returned it. I am undecided if I will re-order, as both this pin and the strawberry bee I ordered were defective/broken. This is the third issue I've had ordering bees in the past 6 months, the last one being the fiasco of the red and green estate bee where a lot of people received the wrong color and then the pin sold out before it could be re-ordered. I don't know what is going on with quality control and it's too expensive and frustrating to order and wait for refunds for all these bees. 03-04-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Pretty I wasn't sure if I'd like this pin but I was quite pleased when I received it. You really can't tell it's a pineapple. Very pretty colors and design. Thank you David for continuing on with Joan's products. 02-11-15
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not My Favorite One I want to first start off by saying I am a major Joan River's bee pin collector. I have several, and I can't say enough about how I love, love, love each one of them. But when I received this one, I was disappointed. It did not seem that the gold had as many layers on it as it looked brassy and dull. Even the gems on the bee did not shine much. This is the first bee pin I have ever been dissatisfied with, and I hope this will be my only disappointment with any future ones I order as I just adore Joan's pins. I will be sending this one back, but I still will order future ones in hopes this one is just a fluke. 02-10-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by GOR-GEE-OUS! I don't have all of Joanie' s bee pins but I have most of them. I have bought them since she made the very first one. I am especially enamored of the jeweled ones and this one is just exquisite! I keep them in one ot the framed glass cases that she sold some years ago. This bee goes with anything you wear. It can be dressy or casual. I put them in my hair or on my handbags. Bee pins are so versatile! If you want to see Joan' s bee pins in person, go to any flower show or horticultural exhibition. Many, many people will be wearing them. Really! 02-07-15
