Jacqueline Kennedy Simulated Ruby & Diamond Link Bracelet
The Inside Story
John F. Kennedy gave his wife emerald jewelry, as his love for his historic family home was in the Emerald Isle. Jackie had so many pieces she finally told him that as much as she loved emeralds, there was a limit to how many she could wear. She didn't want to become known as the emerald First Lady, and he agreed. So JFK began giving her rubies instead, as this was her birthstone and birthstones were becoming popular. This information didn't come from Jackie, but from Walter Hoving, owner of Tiffany & Co., a good family friend. Therefore, Tiffany was the supplier of ruby jewelry from JFK to Jackie. This bracelet isn't one of the pieces JFK gave to her, as Jackie is wearing it on her right hand. In the photo, you can see Jackie's ring on her left hand, and that hand was reserved for JFK pieces.
