No, they are not soft to the touch as described by host. Having said that, I just luv the color of each of the ponchos, the shell like buttons, and the attractive style. Not heavy...just right, for wearing over clothing and outerwear...even nice as a wrap when going into a cool theater. I luv best wearing it button to the side of one shoulder.

I wanted to love this, truly. The blue color is beautiful and that is the only positive thing I can say about this poncho. Like others have said, it had a weird odor attached to it, but I could have lived with that, what I can't live with is how scratchy the wool is. Not soft at all as the host specifically noted. This is not merino wool. What you have here is basically a big rectangle with buttons down one side and buttonholes down the other. It does not lay on the body nicely as shown on the manikins. It bunches at the back of the neck and when you raise your arms, the whole mess is awkward, bunchy, scratchy and uncomfortable. WAY overpriced for what you get. I actually laughed out loud when I opened it up and saw that it was only a rectangle with buttons and then laughed some more when I tried to make it look decent on me.

Just received the blue and the color variation in the yarn is beautiful. Absolutely so expensive looking and very sharp. I thought about this item for quite awhile and am so thrilled with it that I'll be ordering the truffle/brown color too. This is a high quality item and so great for traveling - I love taking lighter weight pieces that layer well and this fits the bill - but also useful at work or for running around on cooler days.

I ordered the truffle color of this poncho and it was extremely scratchy and had an odor that smelled like cigarette smoke. I returned the poncho the same day I received it.

The presentation of this poncho in the early hours of St. Patrick's Day compelled me to give it a try. My choice was the gorgeous aqua, although I love it so much, I'm tempted to order the other color, too. This poncho provides the perfect amount of warmth for cooler spring days and nights, and I even have worn it during the workday at my overly air-conditioned office. I haven't had the opportunity to try this yet, but I think on particularly cold winter days, it could work well over a coat for extra warmth, too. It's so well-made and beautiful and elegant and special that I cannot recommend this piece enough. It's more highly priced than some other Irish fashions, but it still is a great value.

Beautiful! Truffle color is clearly a dark mushroom color. Gorgeous!
Rated 5 out of 5 by tjg I bought both
I ordered the light brown and liked it so well, I went back for my favorite color in the world (turquoise). I love them. They bring compliments. Unusual and not cumberson at all. I am so happy I ordered both. Oh, the picture shows a rust color and they may call it taupe but it is a light (nice) brown. I like putting the buttons to the side as the host did. After today (St. Patricks Day) instead of 3 sweaters from Ireland, I will have 7. Got a little carried away. They are a lifetime investment though. Never go out of style and last forever.

As another reviewer stated the taupe is brown, not the rusty terracotta color depicted. I ordered it based on having read that review and I love the brown color. This is a bit scratchy but otherwise quite cozy and warm.
