Isaac Mizrahi Live! Pebble Leather Logo Tab Satchel
Worn looking after a dozen uses
I usually love Isaac things especially his purses but this one has not held up to his quality. I used it last year just a few times for church then brought it back out this year for use on special occasions and church it is showing wear and tear after maybe a dozen uses around the top trim. Of course to long ago to send it back.
I just received my bag today and I must say that the bag is very nice but not what I expected when I opened the box. I ordered the Antique white bag and I did not like that it has red lining all around all the edges of the bag which makes the bag edges stand out. The picture online does not show the red edges so it is hard to tell that they are there. Also the shape of the bag does not seem sturdy or strong enough to last from wear. It feels like cardboard is layered underneath the thin leather. I haven’t decided yet whether or not if I will send it back because over all I still like the bag but if I do send it back it is because of the red lining around the edges and because I don’t think it will last from wear and it is not worth the cost. The edges should have been either a gold or tan color on the antique white.
Stylish but Heavy
I received this in the ivory color. I did not notice on the online description that this bag has red tipping around the edging. It was not what I expected, but the bag is beautiful. Sadly, I am returning the bag because even empty it is WAY too heavy. In fairness, I do have a bad back but I had someone else look at the bag who also thought it was quite heavy. It appears well made and sturdy, with the exception of the magnetic closure which seems as if it would open too easily. I still would give it 4 stars as it may be just perfect for someone else.
Although this bag has a nice style, it appeared too piecemeal in person as there is alot going on so it went back.
Oh la la!
I was excited to receive my new purse last week. It's beautiful. I've already gotten a number of compliments.
I am disappointed with this ISAACMIZRAHILIVE LEATHER bag. The problem is the painted leather edge remains tacky. The tacky handle edge removes the color from the bag, leaving marks that look like worm tracks. Not attractive, at all!""
Loved the size
I really liked this bag when I received it. The size is perfect and the center zipper compartment is great. The problem is that the two magnets at the top of the bag are not strong enough and come apart. Magnets need to be stronger or maybe a zippered closure added. the Daisey logo was to big for the front of this bag.The large size took away from the classic beauty of this bag. Wish I could have kept it. Sorry
Leather looks and feels like cardboard. The paint on the trim is really a mess. Different colors, very sloppy application -- looks terrible -- looks like a child did it -- and it is sticky!! Leather is so stiff I feel like if I pull the bag open to really get into it, the leather would tear at the seams inside by the zipper. Bag is definitely going back. Probably won't order any of his bags again.
I really wanted to like this handbag. The style is nice but the bag itself is very heavy. The
red trim is very inconsistent, some spots a nice bright red and in other spots missing altogether. The magnetic closure is very weak and the two sides are not matched. Overall, not worth the money, even at a sale price. I have to wonder where quality control was on this one.
I use this satchel as my day bag. It has lots of room for my makeup, cell phone, tablet and anything else I need to carry with me. I bought this bag as a birthday gift to myself and don't regret it!
This bag is just what I need to get me organized. Too often I either can't find anything in my bag or don't have enough room. This solves both these problems. And I love the color - Chestnut. But I always love Isaac's colors.
Am Really on the Fence About This One
When I retired, I donated 3 Suburban loads of designer business suits and every conceivable accessory you can imagine--right down to unopened packages of expensive panty hose--to an organization that provides items for underprivileged women who were looking for work and really needed to make that important first impression. My Type A daughter was helping me decide what to keep and what to donate. There was one favorite handbag I labored over making that decision. Unfortunately, it went.
Needless to say, I've been trying to find a replacement for that bag ever since. This one came the closest of all I've seen and bought-- classic, timeless in style, very sophisticated but suitable for any occasion, etc. So, I purchased this one in the antique white.
The first problem was with the inside magnetic closure. The magnets are weak and won't hold the bag closed. That alone qualifies it as defective. The leather strips they are imbedded in is bent in odd shapes. A zipper concealing the entire interior would have been better and more secure.
Next issue is the leather. It looks nice; but when the structured part of the bag is touched, I have to agree with another reviewer who said it felt like thin leather over cardboard. That's exactly what it feels like. I fear it won't hold up to much wear; and I don't like my bags to wear me. I didn't buy it just to look at. We women USE our bags and count on them to hold up to what life dishes out.
I do like the size of the bag and the weight is not an issue for me. I really like the lighter color of the inside lining (even though it's made of cotton???)--helps to find things in darker places without a flashlight. Isaac's logo on the front flap and the feet of the bag are just right for this style bag.
It's a shame that just a few additional quality touches would turn this bag around from "do I keep it?" to "WOW! I finally found it!"
If I end up returning this bag, it will be the first time for Isaac's many items I've purchased. Up till now, I've felt I've gotten more than my money's worth for the items I've purchased from his line. Nevertheless, even with no shipping and handling charges, Texas' sales taxes still bumped the drive out price to over $180. In today's economy, that's not chump change.
