Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best vacuum I've ever bought. When I bough this vacuum 10 years ago it was on the top of the list on Consumers Report, along with others that cost hundreds more. I have not been disappointed. It does an amazing job. Very powerful, light weight, and easy yo maneuver. It does what it was built to do, and very well. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and efficient This vacuum was purchased as a replacement for an earlier windtunnel Hoover. These vaccums stand up well to heavy service. Occasional maintance goes a long way in increasing the servicable life. I have had two non-Hoover bagless vacs that I ended up giving away. They were fithly to handle and empty. I'll take a bag system with strong suction any day!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy if you're interested in cleaning hardwood floors with pet fur Bought this appliance because it came with a bare floor setting. Put it together and tried it out on my wooden floors. The air primarily shoots the fur around and when you do manage to get the vacuum to get over it it doesn't actually suck it in -- rather, it creates little fur balls. Waste of time, waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor choice I selected this model u5140900 vacuum for my 88 year old mother because of the Hoover name. After 2 years of limited use in her apartment the motor burned up. The cost to repair is more than the cost of a new one. It's sad that a vacuum cleaner with the Hoover name will not last linger than this. Very disappointed in Hoover.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OK I am a little surprised at how cheaply this vacuum is built. The cord clips are too narrow for the cord to fit into. The hose disconnects from the bottom and dirt flies all over the place. And, it is VERY piercingly loud almost to the point that I might have to wear ear plugs. The pile lever is too hard to move back and forth. The on/off switch is in an inconvenient location-should be on the top front of the handle. Hoover, consider a remake of this bagged upright model!
