Three legs go on fine 4TH will not screw in!!!!
I am so UPSET with this purchase!!!!! Three legs screwed in fine ad I've spent about an hour trying to get the fourth screwed in. I bought this desk for my daughter and finally had time to take it out of the box and assemble. So NOW I have a three legged desk.
Great Desk for the price
Have just opened the desk that I received 2 weeks ago. Had a small problem with leg 1 (screw would not go in) so just switched out the screw and viola! Done. Desk went together in about 15 minutes. Beautiful. Just what I needed to take care of bills each month.
Did note that 1 leg has a small crack but will put some wood glue in it at a later date.
It is a beautiful desk...but one of my legs I couldn't get the second screw in tightly because of hole being offset...but mostly....they had touched up with "unmatched color" on 2 of the legs from scratches which ended up hidden...BUT STILL!!!...finally got them on..turned the desk over (as it was upside down in box and VERY HEAVY) and huge scratch right on the top....will not do this again!!
This desk is perfect for anyone looking for a "place" (in this case-desk) of their own. For a long time I wanted a place I could pleasantly sit and pay bills, surf the net, address letters etc and I finally got it with this desk.
I ordered the Tan Floral and while the outlines on the print are not even, I feel as if thats what makes it feel more "antique". It is truly a perfect sized desk for women - big enough to fit your laptop or tablet with room still for papers and even a picture frame - but not too big where it is clunky and ugly. Love the curved top and legs, just very happy with it.
Mine also did not come damaged so that made it even better.
love this writing desk
I put this writing desk in my bedroom and it's just lovely. Very well made and solid wood. Definitely perks up the room. A little difficult attaching the legs but ok when it was done. Beautiful hand painting. I am very pleased with it. Great buy.
Alert - only buy this table if you or someone in the household is a wizzard with the tool box and has drills. I spent 3 hours trying to assemble this thing (having just put together a large, beautiful Hooker sofa table last week, no problem) and finally gave up, deciding to pay a handyman to do it. Some of the assembly parts were missing, some did not fit, and he just ended up creating an assembly method on his own that worked. Some of the legs had chipped edges, so be sure to get a furniture pen ready. It looks fine now, but seriously, I'd happily pay extra to have the thing shipped with its legs on.
Just love this piece and it's more beautiful in person. Lots of character, looks as if
it's a vintage piece. I am using it in my remodeled bathroom, since I only have a
Victorian pedestal sink this is going to be used as a make-up vanity. Just perfect, and
I couldn't be happier. Despite having been damaged in shipping, I am getting a replacement. I can't say enough about how much I enjoy this desk, or vanity in my case. Thanks QVC.
good for the money, but some issues
The shape of this desk is very pretty, and that is the reason I ordered it. However, there are some issues.
My desk arrived with two sizable chips in the rail around the top. For me, that is not a big issue because I bought the desk with plans to paint it, and a little wood filler did the trick. For someone who did not plan to paint, this obviously would have been a issue. The rail is made of mdf, and so the wood grain is fake. You would have to be able to match the fake wood grain to fix any chips if you didn't plan to paint the whole item. Hopefully, not many of the items are damaged as mine was.
I got the tan color desk. Although I am painting it, I do want to note that the design painted on the top was, in some ways, rather clumsily done. The dark line bordering the design was not precise, and the corners were especially badly done. The flowers in the design were competently drawn, but the birds had eyes that looked like those of cartoon characters, giving them a somewhat deranged look.
For the money, I still think this desk is a good deal, but if you plan to buy the tan, and don't intend to paint over the existing finish, you might need to touch up the design on the top, or else use a blotter to cover it up. On the other hand, I suspect that the factory employs a number of people to paint these designs. Maybe some are more artistically talented than others, and better at painting straight lines and at drawing birds.
