Hex Bug Set of 2 Aquabots Robotic Fish with Fish Bowls
We bought these for our two grandsons for Xmas. I read such bad reviews on these toys that I decided it was a small gift anyway so just give it to them next time we visit. I didn't want the fist to be broken or die in the water on Xmas.. Well they got their fish about one month ago and they are working great. Fun in the fish bowls but I will say very small bowl could be a little bigger for the price. The boys especially love them in their bath tub at bath time. they dive and swim and are allot of fun. Sorry so many have gotten duds, why is it some work so well and others are so bad ? Has to be a reason so look into it..
When I saw this on QVC I thought it was a perfect Christmas gift for
my Grandsons. When it arrived I was so sorry I order these fish and bowls
because after about 5 min. any interest they had would be gone. Maybe it would be
better if there were two other fish - who knows,
They are both going back
I bought 2 of these, both of them will go to a corner and get stuck..
and they did NOT run for the complete 5 minutes, and they just shut off.. complete junk.. I don't even think this merits a 1 star rating!
Gave to my nephews , they loved them. They are so fun to watch.
Set one up to see how it would work. Was terribly disappointed to find that it would swim in a circle for a few minutes and then stop, didn't even go the full 5 min. and not once did it dive or change direction.
Tried again the next day and same thing so I am returning the two sets I ordered.
Does not work as shown on TV
I opened one package - put in bowl that came with it - headed for a corner and sat there, tail twitching, but not moving. I tried to move it around but it stayed in one corner. Got a deeper, round bowl and it went around, scraping nose on surface till it stopped at 5 minutes. Never dove, never changed pattern of going around the bowl. Bummer!! Going back today.
Worked For A Few Days
The fish did swim for a few days of using, but had to replace the batteries very quickly. Only worked for a short time after that. For the price, expected better quality.
Would be great if these worked
I'm a long time QVC customer who hasn't complained about any product before now. My jaw dropped when I saw this on QVC -- perfect incentive for a group of boys who had talked about sharks and robots and wishing their parents would let them have pet fish. The initial debut of the first fish was a hit. After about 6 minutes of watching the koolest thing ever, the boys gently put it away. The next day the boys gathered, filled the tank and put the fish inside but it didn't swim. The kids grieved as if it were real. I waited two weeks before letting them know I had another. Made the mistake of not testing it. Brand new and out of the box, its tail moved a few seconds and that was all. Wasn't worth the return shipping. Would be great if these worked.
I bought these for my 4 year old. He has been asking for them since seeing them on a commercial. This is a really great deal for two! They are very cute and he enjoys watching them swim. Batteries don't last long. They fit the hex bug batteries.
These are so cute, but neither fish worked
I'm bummed! These are so cute, but neither fish worked when I received them, nor after replacing the batteries. I thought of returning the item and in the interim I had left one tank on my desk and found my cats pawing at the fish and drinking the water so I have decided to keep the item and use it as water bowl that I have needed since adding another rescue cat to our family – albeit more than I would prefer to spend for a water bowl, but the cats like it.
Even after purchasing new batteries, one won't work anymore.
Fascinating for my hard to-entertain cat
I bought a couple of sets of these to give to family members with cats. I tested one out on my own hard-to-entertain black cat who can destroy most cat toys in minutes. He loved it! The fish did sound mechanical for a while and then the noise resolved as it kept diving and rising. The fish's motion was convincing enough to keep the cat's attention for the full 5 minutes. The cat would bat at the side of the tank, stick his paws in the tank and lick the water off of his paws before staring at the fish again for another attempt.
