MOST FRUSTRATING PURCHASE EVER
We had troubling issues as others have reported, but decided to deal with it. The noise and temparature never getting lower than 5 degrees above what was set was bad enough, especially considering we live in the North where it is milder weather than in the South. But I would have welcomed others problems of it turning off when the tank was full instead of my issue. It never turned off or gave any warning of being full in the whole 2 months i used it. It did however, without warning, dump so much water on my carpet at one point that water came up around my feet when i stepped 6 feet away from it. Thank goodness the Bissel carpet cleaner we got from QVC worked to pick up all that water! I'm also very grateful my daughter came to help me or the 4 hour cleaning process may have proven to be too much for my heart and troubled back! We conservatively estimated the amount of water removed as 5+ gallons. Haier said that amount would be impossible in a short time but I measured it! Then we had to shampoo the carpet and work on wet table legs and run fans for 3 days to get everything completely dry. As if this was not frustrating enough, it literally took 2 months and 18 very frustrating phone calls with Haier and the company they used for repairs to get real help. I lost count of the promises that were broken. But today I received a call from a very nice and professional representative from Haier and she is processing a new AC unit for me rather than to have me continue to wait for a tech who has never come to even look at it. I'm very thankful for this alternative solution, since I would have not been able to test the repair until warm weather when the warranty would have been out. But I have spent endless troubled hours to get to this point and that is just bad business. I am hoping the new one doesn't also malfunction and start the process all over again. Way too much money to have all these issues!

It worked.
I have to say that we used this all through the summer and it worked well enough for us to keep it on. It won't cool the entire house and our open floor plan is not ideal for this machine, but it does work. The giant exhaust hose is a bit unsightly and difficult to move, so it is in the corner behind the couches. We tried the heat function for the first time today and it worked well. The machine shut off abruptly and I finally figured out that some water had collected in the tank--about half a cup. I emptied it by tipping the machine back onto a cookie sheet and it's back on.
I would like this in a smaller room and wish it had a smaller, more flexible exhaust hose. I'd also like to be able to run it for longer periods without emptying.

Mine isn't what I thought it would be.
I am going to have to see about sending it back. It has just up & quit. Won't come on at all. The book of instructions was not what it should be. Sadly disappointed. I wish it was what i was hoping it to be. Especially for the price. SORRY.

OK, but not as promised
Having a "portable" air conditioner is a GREAT idea. Having an air conditioner that does not have a condensation tank requiring emptying is a GREAT idea. This Haier model is neither of those, really...but it is still a good choice if you understand and can live with its limitations. First, its size and weight make it anything but portable. Sure, it is on casters, and that means, once out of the box and set up, you can move it from room to room on one floor, but unless you have a strong, able bodied helper, do not consider this "portable" for every room in your house (e.g., bedroom at night, living room for the daytime.) The enclosed directions also ASSURE the user that the unit is self-de-condensing, meaning, all humidity will be handled easily by the unit, requiring no emptying of a tank. I found that the tank often fills during moderate-high periods of humidity, causing the unit to shut off. It is neither clear how to drain the tank (the directions are of no help) and barring getting burly help to turn it upside down and shake it, I simply keep it off during those periods (kind of defeating the purpose of buying an air conditioner) and only use it when it is function-able. However, for those times, I am grateful to have it.

Disappointing
I live in an older home that needed a boost of coolness on the top floor. I bought this hoping it would be the perfect answer. How disappointing! The machine is loud, hard to control temperature, too heavy and awkward to consider shipping back...and totally wish I had saved my money.

Back to Central Air
We have this unit in our bedroom. It's too noisy at night for me. During these high humity days, it does NOT make the room comfortable. When we switched the unit to humidify, the water tanks fills up quickly and the unit shuts off. It's too much hassle to return to QVC so we'll find somewhere else to put this unit...if we can.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT
I live in Florida and my central air broke. Immediately I order this one arrived in two days. The UPS guy put inside the house and my neibgbor installed for me.
It went from 90 degrees to 75 around 30 minutes. It has been almost a month that I installed and just have to collect the water once, what was very easy and not much at all. I am very satisfied and will buy another for the living room. Won't pay 5 thousand for a new central air. This really works very well.

Not impressed with delivery
I recently moved to a two story house and decided to purchase this for an upstairs bedroom because the room was very hot in the late afternoon and I really did not want to move the thermastat down to 70 degrees to cool that one specific room but that is where I do most of my work. I did have difficulty with the instructions, and finally called a local handy man after having the unit here over one week. The handy man ended up going to the local hardware to purchase some items (less than $15.00) to make it stay in the window and not allow bugs and lizards and the such come in along with the Georgia heat I was trying to get relief from. Once I have started it, It does cool rather well, although it is not quiet. I will keep it though. Too hard to take out of the window and by the time I pay the handyman to come back and take it out and pay shipping back I would already have lost $150.00. And it does cool. I do not know about the heat yet.

AWFUL
Absolutely terrible product--stopped working in these dangerously high temps. There's a year warranty, but for EIGHT of those months, it was in our storage unit (fall and winter in northeast). Do not waste your money.

Very good unit -- hard to use hose for window.
The unit was delivered very promptly and was easy to use once I hooked it up. The problem I had was the hose that you put in the window. If you have a window that opens up and down (horizontal) it's perfect. If you have a window that opens side to side (vertical) then you have a problem. The hose is not long enough nor flexible enough. Also the extra pieces that go in the window don't fit right and don't fit together/slide together at all. I had to jury rig the window with thick tape. The instructions call for you to screw in the hose piece for the for window into the window. If you have a metal window or in a rental you can't do that. Hence the tape. Once I set every thing up the unit cooled the area very quickly!!! Whether you have the unit on high or low, you really can't hear it. It is no louder than a quiet osculating fan. On a whole I am very glad I bought this unit!!! I would recommend it to others.

Not up to par
Had this unit 6 months now. Live in a RV in Fla. Keep it set at 76 and unit never shuts off. It may work better in a room with better insulation, as our RV isn't the best insulated place but it does keep it cool but has to run all day to keep it at temp that we set it. Will just go into fan mode when reaches desired temperature. I dont find it any noiser than our other portable ac unit. Would like to be able to program an on and off time on it. We had no problem venting outside. Not sure if heat works as haven't used it. if had programmable settings would rate it higher

Noisy Elephant; From DoñaMenorca
I was very disappointed this is too loud and runs all the time does not maintain settings, you must change manually (no auto or sleep) the turn "ON" as you programed in clock does not "Turn ON." Also It does not remember settings if "Electric goes out" as in a storm. You can"t hear the TV or sleep with this! ? Very dissapointed in Hair, the Book had no directions how to open hand control, I called and tried the Philips and my guess was right. This is going back, why Heat settings needs hose hook up to open window when it reaches below 20℉ i NYC. Haier what is tempature in Germany my daughter says University in Cologne, was COLD! Your company missed this one; quality, performance in (R&D). I"m going to DeLonghi I have a portable heater for over 20 years. So my next room I'll recomend and use another DeLonghi. Ciao
