expensive computer with no software I like another reviewer bought this computer and kept it in a box for several months. When I actually began using it, I found out that $1100 didn't include ANY software. Since you must buy software, I would recommend a less expensive computer 06-16-11
Anyone else with this issue? I bought this computer a year ago and I left it in thebox for 5 months until i moved. It was so easy to set up and get started right away. The issue that I am having right now, which is about 10 months since i recieved it, is that Microsoft Office Word 7 is saying I need a product key and I only have 14 uses left until it expires. I purchased this expecting it Mircrosoft office Word 7 to be a permenent feature and apparently it will expire. I am not happy about this because I use this computer for word documents and for some reason it was not stated clearly or I was misinformed that I would need a 25 digit key to have lifetime use of this program. Overall I love this computer and I want to utilize it more, but unfortunately, I have to use another one to do most of my Word documents due to my limited time with the program on this computer. 11-30-10
Kitchen Appliance? You bet! This is the newest appliance in our kitchen. It sits at the end of our breakfast nook table against the wall, out of the way but available instantly. TV? Gone. Radio? Gone. Pile of old newspapers? Gone. Old magazines? Gone. It is WiFi'd to our home network and connected to our cable, TV and internet. Computing functions aside - email, spreadsheet, word processing, professional apps, we have work computers for these - this is a tremendous "appliance." Internet radio provides more radio programing than imaginable, music, talk, you name it. Access to your morning newspapers from the Wall Street Journal to just about anything else - local, national, international; local TV for weather and news; the on-line editions of our print magazines; it's is a wonderful communications device. We sniffed at the touch screen control feature when we ordered this, seeing it as a gimmick we'd accept but not order, otherwise. Wrong. It won't take long to figure out the mix of touch screen and keyboard-mouse / mouse controls that works best for you, but it will happen. You'll love it. This was purchased specifically as an item for our kitchen, not as a "work" computer (we heach have our own). Range, fridge, dishwasher, computer. They'll all be a part of any kitchen we ever have, again. It is great. 08-12-10
bad experience I got this computer in January, and transfered my files from my old computer. I have spent from around March to May doing everything HP email help told me to do. The HP health anaylsis will not work. It will not download updates, etc. Could not get much help except email from HP. I thnk if HP would talk to me it would of helped, but when I called I kept getting transfered. When I realize this was not going to work It was to late to return. 08-09-10
Very Nice Computer I have had my HP since it was offered as the TSP and so far I have not had any problems. I Was fairly simple to set up since my house is wired for mulitple WIFI connections. My daughter loves it, she spends more time playing games than I do working. I mainly use the Office Student Edition and research for work and school. I don't do a lot with videos, webcams etc. For me it was a good purchase. I guess after looking at the reviews I can see that others have had problems. 07-11-10
Disappointed Purchased in Feb. to do taxes. HP Assistant didn't work. Didn't have time to deal with it -- selling house, moving, lost an 11year old golden retriever. Now I find out they want to take my computer back to the original status which means that I would lose or have to download all of my programs and data again. Why can't they just make a DVD of HP Assistant and let me load it. Very upset. Spent a lot of money and 2 1/2 hours on the phone and they want to erase my entire computer and start over. HELP! First HP -- maybe last. 07-09-10
THIS COMPUTER IS AWESOME I have never enjoyed a computer as I have this one. It has not given me any problems, fast, can hold alot of information without slow down. I even use it for my tv in my bedroom as well. The screen plays HD as if it were an HD tv. I plan on purchasing another for my daughter to use for school. I have seen this same computer in retail stores, but it doesn't come with all the programs I received with this. I recommend this computer to anyone who wants a computer that can work like a tv and does not have alot of desk top space to have a monitor and a modem 07-04-10
glitzy...but slow after a while I was thrilled with my purchase initially. It was very fast and efficient. However, it is slower now and in fact crashed but i was able to fix it myself -- I think. I of course thought it had to me. I usually purchase computers from Dell and printers from HP. I have never had to call tech support so soon after purchase. I bought this in february. . I don't have children who download garbage that usually causes other computers to slow down etc. I would probably have had problems sooner if I had more time off. I don't use it daily and so I was using it roughly twice a week. The picture for viewing tv is crystal clear, however,I should have bought a Regular Dell tower which is sturdier in the long run. I am not sure you really need the touch smart technology. I was blown away by the glitz of it all. I also don't usually buy such new technology unitl all the kinks are out. 07-04-10
Best Computer Service I've Ever Experienced!! This computer is WONDERFUL! Fast as lightning and so easy to work with. I received my computer in Feb. 2010 and after a couple of months started having some problems with it crashing and a blue screen appearing. Being a Graphic Designer for over 30 years and working on all types and styles of computers, I attempted to resolve the problem with the IOLO - System Mechanic that came with the computer and the HP Computer Assistant. The system would work for fine and then crash again. I began to restore my system from a previous date and thought I had things resolved and again a crash would eventually occur. Bottom Line: I finally called HP Service after two months of trying on my own and found that I should have called me after the first crash (blue screen). The serviceman was very, very helpful, polite and helped me troubleshoot what was wrong with my system. I ended up unscrewing the back of the machine and HP Service walked me through identifying that one of my memory cards was faulty. Being a computer person, I felt comfortable doing this and if I didn't feel comfortable, HP would have sent out a technician, FREE OF CHARGE or I could have sent the computer back at HP's expense. Resolution: We found that one of my memory cards were defective and I elected to have HP arrange to have FEDEX send me a box so I could send back the computer to the factory for a thorough exam and resolve all problems at no cost to me. FEDEX will even come and pickup the box with the computer in it when I have it packed and ready and HP will have my computer fixed within 7-9 business days. I had the choice of either having a technician come to my home and fix the computer or send it off to the factory. Since I attempted to resolve the problem myself, I elected to send it to the factory to make sure all is well. This is the best service I have ever experienced with ANY computer and I have been assured that my computer will be 100% when returned! Prior to the system crashing I was simply amazed at the speed of this computer and the many features that it held. I especially feel that I have made the best choice of computers when I experienced the type of service I received once I finally let go of my male ego and allowed HP to help me resolve my problem! Not only is this HP TouchSmart 300 a fantastic system but you receive service with more than a smile. I was immediately connected with a service person and after about an hour of working with them, everything was set up for my system to be on it's way to the factory. I will receive my FEDEX box with the return label to HP within 2-3 days and once they receive the computer I should receive it back within 7-9 business days. The last thing I want to share is that HP Service gave me a choice in how I wanted my system to be fixed. If I were using this computer for a business, they would have sent out a technician so I could still be up and running, even on one of the two memory cards. While the computer has been running slow, it would still operate and I would still be in business. Because I use the system purely for personal reasons, I chose to send it back for a more thorough exam. QVC, you folks ROCK and the HP service is by far superior than others I have dealt with. Coming from a MAC person for over 15 years, I am simply amazed at this system and Windows7. I still love my older MAC and was able to resolve my own problems but with service such as HP is giving, the PC was the most economical way to go for a personal computer. And the Photoshop software that came with the system is simply wonderful! Service beyond just a smile :) Thanks QVC for another fantastic product! Sparky in Springfield, IL 06-29-10
Great Desktop! I love this desktop! I have never been a fan of H&P but after this desktop, I am now :) After getting out of the packaging, this desktop was setup and running in less than 30 minutes! I love it....I highly recommend this deskltop! 06-15-10
LOVE it!!!!! I was told when I placed my order, that my computer would not be shipped for at least 3-4 weeks. I received it within 2 weeks! (Love it when QVC exceeds expectations!) As with my first one, this HP was easy to set up and had instructions simple enough for a child to follow! The quality of this product has far surpassed what I thought it would be! And, as far as HP customer service...I had a problem about 2 months after I received the computer...The tech support team at HP worked with me for hours to find the problem...turned out it was not the computer, but the printer I had purchased. The HP representative even called the printer manufacturer for me and stayed on the line with me until I had a resolution! In the end I was so satisfied with HP that I ordered an HP printer to replace the one that was not so compatible with the Windows 7 progam. I received the printer abut 2 weeks ago and it is a dream! This is my 2nd HP computer and I purchased both of them from QVC....I wouldn't have it any other way! 06-05-10
Love to TOUCH First HP/ touch screen, it's been fun to learn. Screen is bright with no glares and sits by a window on the right side. Learning to pinch and rotate, new web experiences and great built in apps for music, photos, videos and movies. No problems with our computer at all and sorry to hear about the others and their problems. I did pay $250. to have it set up and installed correctly, but think that was mostly due to the TV part of this computer and the room it went into. We had to have the satelite line brought into this room from another room, and at the same time, they hooked up the computer to the router, wireless and our GPS (due to a bad area) as well as handled all the TV settings, was worth paying the $250. I'm not sure I would have been able to do all that without the frustration. Enjoying the compter/TV very much and use it almost everyday. Keep all your paperwork handly and your Microsoft CD with your Product Key because you will need to enter that key # when you finally use the Microsoft Home Office software already installed on your computer. I hope you will enjoy this computer as much as we have. 05-22-10
