HP Sleekbook 15.6", Win 8 Intel Dual Core 4GB RAM 500GBHD w/ Tech Support
I purchased this product for my granddaughter for school. Out of the box the battery would not charge. I called HP customer support and was told the computer was sold in Aug, 2012 and was registered to someone else and instead of a 1 year warranty there were only 3 days left on the warranty because it was originally purchased a year ago. Instead of receiving a new computer I received a previously owned, defective computer that had been returned a year ago, possibly for the same reason I have returned it. I purchased this product believing it was a new computer, not a refurbished one. No where in the ad does it say this was not a new computer. I am very disappointed in QVC and probably will not purchase any further electronics from them. I rated this one star because it is a required field. If possible I would rate this much lower.
the battery lasts about 1 hour max. i keep losing my connection. not really thrilled with windows 8
Best ever for my wife
I purchased this computer as a birthday present for the wife, she loves it.The only thing is now she has to learn a new operating system, Windows 8. She's getting use to it. She had good things and bad things to say about It. As long a she can get to the old fashion desktop, she's good. I'm glad I brought it at a good price and payments as spread over several months.
I love it! It is sleek and light weight. I'm still learning Windows 8. But everything seems to be ok. I like the external cd rom. I'm a student and it makes the lap top lighter to carry. I love the programs. And the 4 year anti-virus. Plus the Tech support.
The only complaint is it wasnt in a double box when shipped. I THOUGHT IT COULD OF BEEN PACKAGED A LOT BETTER FOR PROTECTION.
Worst computer buy ever
I have had to repair this sleekbook 3 times costing me an extra $300.00. Finally our computer doctor from Fairfield Va told me that the computer is so thin that I could set it down on the table and the screen could break. I bought this for my friend at college who is 18, I know that she needs a more sturdy computer. But seriously the screen is to delicate. I am going to call HP and see if I can trade it for a laptop. Customer service is not the best so wish me well. I may end up just throwing it in trash:(
I really have enjoyed the laptop. It is a blessing to me to have a usual device at my finger tips. I would refer this product to anyone that says they need a proficient computer and with six easy payments. Love it. Thank you QVC **2 Thumbs Up**
Love My New Laptop
I am so glad that I didn't pay attention to the first few reviews and kept reading. I realized people's reviews were probably based on the new experience of Windows 8 and possibly even a defective device which is a bummer.
I just received my laptop today, it setup like a charm. I love it. It's lightweight and very streamlined. As for Windows 8... I actually kinda like that too. But then again, I'm a person who likes to change things up every now and then. I've played around and navigated through several screens and haven't noticed any slowness on this device. I have already gone through and set up all my work information, websites and log ins, easy no problem.
I am so excited about my new machine. I would definitely recommend this laptop for someone that needs to be on the go but doesn't want to feel weighted down. No it doesn't have an internal drive, but it's not something I use anyway, so the external will be just fine. Netflix, which is my crack, is already installed so I'm more than satisfied.
So... Don't be discouraged by the reviews, read through and try to understand what people are truly complaining about, whether it's the Windows 8 experience or a defective device and see if those are your same concerns. I'm glad I took a chance on this machine in spite of the many bad reviews.
Very slow cheap
Track pad not user friendly not a good value very slow and just not worth this felt like a 50 .00 dollar lap top.
I received a used computer from QVC with someone else information on it. The computer wasn't even in its original box. Be careful with this purchase.
OUTSTANDING AT BEST
Listen, here's a straight review with no chasers as I have nothing to gain. I myself am NOT what you'd call a tech savvy person. In fact, I need help getting most electronics out of the box (laughing).
I finally bit the bullet and ordered this Sleekbook/Laptop because I needed it. I fought long and hard for many years not to allow certain electronics in my home as I felt they infringed on family time, and I could take full advantage of using them at work. I started with my cell phone, changing from a flip phone to a droid phone. I was even apprehensive about that.
My thought process was always, if it works well, why change it? Needless to say, I had to have access to a personal computer during off hours in order to get personal emails. At the time I did not have a computer at home so I opted for a droid phone in order to read my personal yahoo emails. Once I got use to that, I started entertaining the thought of getting a computer. So, I did my research, the first HP that I wanted I saw on QVC, unfortunately, when I finally made up my mind to order it, it was sold out. Needless to say, I was completely devastated. It was a little cheaper than this one; any who, I saw this one and decided I better hop on it before it too sold out. Finally I purchased it at let it sit for a couple of days. This past Friday, I came home from work and was determined by hook or crook to set it up and start using it.
Let me just say that TECH SUPPORT ROCKS!!!! Anytime they can help me with the set up and then loading the McAfee 4 year virus protection, they can help anyone LOL!
I'm really not feeling the negative reviews on this PC. It really is the bomb.com (meaning wonderful). To add, QVC rocks with their EZ pay option which is far different from lay-a-way. You order your product, take advantage of the EZ pay (if offered) and you get your product to begin using it. You really could not ask for a better deal all the way around. I AM VERY HAPPY THAT I PURCHASED THIS!
I'm telling you, get yours before it's too late!!!!!! :-)
I bought one in July,2013 and 2 months later the laptop screen went out. I have bought a few laptops in the past from QVC and have had no problems with them but the are not HP's either.
Be warned - HP does NOT stand by its products
My mother-in-law purchased a computer from HP only 2 months ago and recently noticed an odd issue - the media card reader was not operating correctly. After trying to do her a favor and resolve the problem for her, I eventually was forced to give up and we contacted HP's so-called "award winning" tech support. The person with whom I spoke spent just under two minutes with me, allegedly researched the issue, and eventually claimed that she did not know what the problem was and that they would have to elevate the issue to a different department. I thought, OK no problem - yes, more of my time would be spent resolving this issue, but at least it would be resolved. So I agreed to this. To my horror, she had the audacity to tell me we would have to cough up $59 to allow us to speak with the advanced team. Unreal - so we spend hundreds on a device that does not work the way it should, and which is allegedly covered under a warranty, and we have to PAY to SPEAK to someone so that they can fix what they didn't get right in the first place??? Mind you, she only spent about 2 minutes with me before claiming she couldn't solve the problem and would need to "elevate" the matter. And this is now the SECOND HP device I've had an issue with in the last 2 years - the other device was a printer/scanner/copier which gives me more problems and headaches than I can count. So with this, we are now officially DONE with HP. They make poor products and then have the nerve to CHARGE you to fix it within the warranty period? Bye bye, HP - you will NOT be missed.
