HP G6 15.6" Laptop Windows 8, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD& Software
Great for the price
Have only had the computer for one week, but so far it is performing very well. I have had an HP for over 8 years, and replaced an older Pavillion for this one, and they are always dependable and solid pieces of equipment. My biggest concern is with Windows 8 as it is not as user friendly as Windows 7 to me may take some getting used to.
The laptop itself is sleek, well designed, and very fast and reliable.
Delivery was quick and wonderful. I was ready to go and set up to use the internet within ten minutes and it was fairly easy.
The problem is windows 8. I'm an avid computer person and technology person. I found windows 8 cumbersome, not user friendly, hard to manage, it was difficult to find programs, I had to have a Microsoft account (Hotmail will work) in order to download apps or update apps such as Skype. You can't pin things downloaded from the Microsoft "Store" to the task bar. I haven't decided if, I will keep it or not.
The laptop itself really is a great piece of technology but, Windows 8 makes it an average or below average product. It saddens me to say that I had to lower my review of the product due to a sub par windows system. Windows 8 does have potential though however, I believe a few kinks should be worked out within the program itself.
Those expecting to be able to just open up and go or insert your DVD and go may find that , it no longer happens like that. Those expecting to find a place to shut down your laptop via the "Start" menu will find that it's no longer possible instead, you must search and use measures that way search "power" open power management and change that way.
So, a few extra steps and you find it much more time consuming and cumbersome than that of what you're used too.
