Not A Good Buy I have had problems with this computer! When I type the cursor jumps around and types where it wants too! Called HP and they were NO HELP! 11-13-12
GREAT For ONLINE GAMING and large MMO ordered several computers at the same time hoping to play WOW on Ultra ... this one did it ..(sent back a Gateway (that was more expensive) that I ordered from HSN and a Dell from Best Buy) this one had great graphics without having to pay for Alienware. Have only had a problem with a defective fan which HP repaired SUPER FAST!!!! GREAT GREAT GREAT have over 60 fps in a full server .. soooo happy 09-08-12
Nice Laptop, beautiful display We have a HP Desktop and Laptop in the house already that we purchased 5 years ago. The graphics card on the desktop is showing its elderly age, but after harvesting an old E-Machine for fan donations, the problem was effectively solved. With that said, we have been thoroughly impressed with HP and the products we have. I do have to say, though, one who isn't somewhat savvy might have viewed certain maintenance issues negatively. I had high expectations for this laptop when I ordered it, and so far, I am not disappointed. The display is beautiful (make sure you personalize your display settings for your eye), and while it isn't as quick as I would like it to be, I think I just need to get in and tweak it a bit to get the optimal performance out of her. Just like cell phones these days, there are a lot of manufacturer loaded products that are not necessary and can drain resources. The one thing I wasn't too happy about was while I received the laptop ahead of schedule, I never received the software that is supposed to accompany the unit. I placed a phone call to customer service and they apologized for not placing the order and promise to have the software delivered to me in seven days. If that happens, I have not one solid complaint! 06-19-12
Great Laptop Great Flex Pay This laptop is everything I needed and wanted. I love the finger print scanner to sign into my computer keeping my items private and protected since I use my laptop for work. The only thing I don't like is that it seems the keys stick sometimes and my letters don't show up when typing. But other than that, it's great! 04-17-12
Great Laptop This laptop is solid. I work in Information Technology for a living and have owned and purchased several types of laptops and I fix computers on a regular basis. This laptop has a good processor capable of doing anything you would want to do and adequate RAM with the ability to upgrade the RAM to 16GB which you can do for about $150 if you are doing more intense things like graphics work, gaming, or virtualization. In addition, you have a discrete graphics adapter with 1GB dedicated video memory which means you can also do some gaming on this if you desire. It is all packaged in a decent casing with an aluminum outer shell. Many of the reviews here are not reviewing the laptop itself but individuals' personal bad experience with it because it didn't work properly out of the box. That is not something that is specific just to HP, I have had it happen with most PC manufacturers to include, Dell, Asus, Acer, etc. Although it is definitely inconvenient to have to ship it back and wait for another one, these personal issues are not really pertinent to reviewing the laptop itself. You can't go wrong buying this laptop. As for the sound quality, no laptop is going to give you great sound out of a series of 2inch speakers, that's why you can buy great quality headphones or external speakers if you want better sound. The sound that this laptop provides is better than average IMHO. If you want a flawless laptop that will work out of the box, look great, sound great, and hold its value if you decide to sell it a couple years later......don't buy any Windows laptop go get a Macbook Pro. 04-04-12
Bad quality control! This is my 2nd HP computer from QVC, the first one was this exact same computer except in the 17" version. The first one had a battery issue I assume as it would work fine plugged in then would BSOD when i had it on battery power. This one I just got and opened the box and was happy to have my laptop again!! Fire it up and guess what????? BAD SCREEN! A group of pixels in the lower right corner about 1" by 1" shake around with the slightest movement. Just that one inch square the rest of the screen is fine!!! I don't know if HP is dumping there 2nds on to QVC but so far that is what it looks like. I think I will order a Dell now but the specs on this computer is exactly what I wanted. HP PICK UP YOUR QUALITY CONTROL! 03-23-12
Well worth the money I love this computer, and the bundle is the best ever! I would recommend this for anyone, I am going to college online and this computer rocks! 03-02-12
Loving this computer so much should be a sin.... I purchased this laptop just a couple of weeks ago. I have never owned a laptop before, nor did I really have any interest in purchasing one. I figured I have a desktop computer already so what's the point? Attending school full time and taking half of those classes online I finally caved in to my friends suggestions that a laptop would better fit my needs. I decided if I were going to get a laptop, I would get the one that seemed to have the most of what I wanted in a single computer. I did a lot of research, I even googled things like "top 10 laptop brands" and learned about processors, RAM, GB, etc... I decided I wanted to get the best processor available (a quad-core) and something that had high RAM as well as GB which would offer sufficient memory that would allow me to run as well as store lots of information, media, files, programs, etc... I searched HSN because my friend shops from them, but they just didn't have the quality products I was looking for, let alone the combination of all the things I wanted in my ideal computer. After a lot of searching, I finally came to the QVC website and narrowed it down to the HP DV6 15.6" Notebook AMD A8 Quad Core 6GB RAM 750GB HD because it seemed to have the most of what I wanted...the best processor for speed, one of the best memories on the market, and it even came with some great programs like the home and landscape design program, the cookbook program, the family tree maker, the adobe photoshop and many more, not to mention the fact that the web cam and built in microphone are really an amazing quality. I've already used them to skype with my sister who lives 2,000 miles away and I got to see my nephew for the first time! Then I had to do an oral speech for a foreign language class I'm taking and I couldn't believe how crisp and clear the microphone was. Then there's the fingerprint recognition software which makes it so easy to log in to check my email, go online on my college campus website and check on things for my classes, log in to social networking sites, etc... all with the swipe of a finger, which means no more crazy password memorization for every site I have a log in for, while also making me feel very savy and up to date with the times by having fingerprint technology on my very own computer. And it doesn't stop there! All of this great quality for a decent price already, and then for the price to be available in installment payments without having to apply for financing or pay interest is like icing on the cake. I had the money to pay in full upfront but decided to do installment payments that average just under $200 a month for a few months. I get everything this computer has to offer without having to set aside the full payment upfront, which means I dont feel any extra financial burden by making this purchase. All around this is a great value and such a perfect fit for my lifestyle right now. With a desktop shortcut to HP Support Assistance, it also reassured me to know that if I had any issues whatsoever that help was only a click away. The only thing I wanted that this computer didn't have was a Blu-Ray player, but I figure I can save the Blu-Ray player for my tv and stick to the best all around quality for my laptop. I seriously see my PC across the room and can't believe I ever hunched over a computer desk when I could've benefited from the comfort and convenience of a laptop. I am so proud that this is my first laptop purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking. I'm already thinking about getting another one for a gift. Thank you HP for making such a great product, and thank you QVC for making it available and affordable! Keep doing what you're doing and I will be a customer for life. 02-07-12
POWERFUL PC This is the best computer that I have ever used, and I see my self as a computer know it all and I can't think of a better value, performance that you can get. Processor : 10/10 - The AMD A8 processor is FAST!! I have not had any skipping, freezing, any issues out of the processor so far. 4 Cores also seem to help, using TASK MANAGER I can see all 4 cores with data activity running through them. Keyboard : 10/10 - Awesome, keys are great, feel great, not to small, and you have a full number pad just like a desktop pc. Display : 9/10 - Vibrant, not to glossy. Battery Life : 7/10 - Ok battery life, nothing to brag about, if you alter some of the power settings and etc, such as CoolSense, CPU power usage, and Graphic card power you can get up to 3-4 hours of heavy usage. The charger does make up for it though, charges VERY FAST, I have recharged my battery within 30-45 minutes and that's while the pc is on, imagine if it was powered off!!! Cons : Not Silver or Aluminum like the description says, and I know the Picture shows the color but still UMBER is awesome looking, looks expensive and doesn't look cheap, and looks like you are using some serious hardware. 01-22-12
PC DID NOT WORK Turned on..... loaded up but instead of going to start up screen it just showed a black/blank screen!!!!!!!!!! 01-20-12
Great Laptop Well I already had a new laptop I bought six months ago that I can compare this too. I originally had a Asus with a I3 processor and this unit it way faster, louder, and if you want to play games it can because it has a genuine video card. Not one of those lousy intel 3000. I like the look of it with its solid aluminum casing not plastic like a lot other laptop. The Beats audio is great but even without it, it is still louder than my original Asus unit. I still say Asus is the best as far warranty and quality seeing that when you buy an Asus you know exactly whats inside of it. But if I am comparing just the pure performance of this unit to a I3 or I5 it is better. In test I ran it outperformed my Asus I3, My Lenovo I5, and my custom built desktop that has more ram and a better video card. So I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a mid range laptop that can do more than type papers and browse the net. 01-17-12
Packed Powerhouse at a Reasonable Price! My daughter needed a computer for her Design & Animation class that met the specifications of the software and this HP met the criteria. It's an amazing computer at a great price. The only drawback is that it does not play Blu-Ray, but that is not what I purchased it for. 01-16-12
