HALO Photo/Document Scanner Mouse w/Pad & Easy Share Software
brings history, current
love this, it allowed me to scan old photos and download to my pc to keep or to share.
Invest your money elsewhere
This mouse is a horrible purchase. I would suggest that anyone wanting quality scans, invest in a good printer that has a scanner, or some other company that offer the wide scanner that you can feed through the item to be scanned.
Not as advertised
I found the mouse very difficult to handle - the larger the photo the more distortions you can get. Works OK but not great with very small old pictures only which is the only reason I decided to keep it. This is a very wonderful idea - because it can be used for old pictures glued to albums, but it takes numerous tries to get them correct. The larger the picture the more difficult - watched QVC many times - when received watched the Video on Line - more than once - also received a tutorial on it - still find it difficult - Excellent idea for someone with limited deskspace - I use it on my kitchen table so good an idea - needs perfecting- should have returned but had death in family so I was able to share a small photo of deceased from 1987 - that is why I kept it.
Nice for small photos
I bought this specifically for old photos. Works well. A little tricky, do not stop scanning because the scanner will stop. But does the job well for what I wanted it for.
I bought this as a gift for a family member who works on his computer frequently. He hasn't opened it yet. I'm hoping he'll like it, and find it useful. It looks as though it will be very useful.
I am so happy that I ordered this when it was a TSV! I have been wanting something that I could automatically scan directly into my computer ... and this is it. It is so easy to install, easy to use, and with great results!
I haven't used it to scan documents yet, but I am sure that I'll be just as happy with those results as I am scanning photos! GREAT product!!!
no scanning here
they made it look so easy during the show. i can't do it.
I purchased the halo mouse scanner as a christmas gift for my husband. We wanted to scan family photos of family members past and present in the hopes of giving our kids a photo "family tree". He just recently opened it and tried to set it up. The photo was not easy to scan and did not scan fully. It is frustrating to use. I would have returned it but it is beyond time. I do not recommend this product.
This scanner mouse is great if you have realistic expectations. I bought it to scan my absurdly extensive recipe collection (binders, binders, and more binders full). For that purpose, it's been great. I've scanned some photos, too, and they've come out quite well. In fact, it's been so useful, we've bought a second one. We now scan anything of interest from magazines, newspapers, etc., so we have a digital record, and no more stacks of clippings all over the house! It does have some limitations, the primary one being the cord, which is stiff and cumbersome. When HALO comes out w/ a USB/cordless version, I plan to upgrade immediately. It also can get glitchy if you go too fast, or overwhelm it w/ too much combined graphic and text material at once. However, if you slow down and go over your tracks, it will usually re-knit the scan. Still, if you're looking for a scanner that's handier than a standalone or printer all-in-one, a littlie more exact than an app or camera, that's easy to set up and use, and that gives good results, I'd recommend this one.
The Good and the Bad
This scans small things better than full pages. I use my flat bed scanner if I have an 8" x 11 " something. On smaller items like 1/2 sheets, 6 x 8 photos, business cards, etc. it CAN do a very nice job. There definitely is a LEARNING CURVE. It takes practice & patience & a steady hand. The gentleman who does the demonstrations is an expert & really his skill makes using the HALO unrealistically easy. In that sense, the QVC presentation is not a fair representation of the average user's experience. I am coming in later rather than earlier to write this review & this product is far from a "customer pick" or "customer top-rated." I kept mine and I am Okay with my purchase. I truly regret having given one to a relative. It was a "bill to ship to." He has never mentioned it to me & I have not asked. I know it was a "dud" for him. Cannot recommend this product and especially not as a gift. An embarrassment as a gift. I got mine back in Dec. 2013 when it was a TSV but it did not arrive until well after Christmas. That shipping was a debacle for QVC, also.
absolute worst item ever purchased from qvc
I ordered this scanner " SO CALLED" back before Christmas of 2013. I waited until March 2014 to install it & May 2014 to scan something .
It will scan in broken parts & distorted images, text etc. The pics, text etc. dont line up & different sizes etc.
It is one of the best ways I know of to ruin a good day .
Great - Must have a steady hand though!
This is a great item and scans everything - but - You must have a steady hand and practice.
