I wear a 12 in most QVC designers and ordered a 12 Black in this jacket. It fit just fine, zipped up. I read reviews and was worried I would need to size up and I would have if I were to wear bulky clothes or sweaters underneath. However, with a thin sweater, thermal long sleeve shirt, a LOGO 3/4 sleeve rayon knit shirt - I found I was able to zip up and not have any issues. This is a great lightweight jacket that is dressier than just throwing on a North Face that is popular here in the PNW. I love the style and in true Anorak styling the waist sits between the natural waist line and under the breast. I would not call it empire as empire sits right beneath. I am 5'8" and it fits great. I can't get over the sale price for a cute jacket for fall.

the waist is very high, actually should be called empire waist. if you plan on pulling in the tie, it's likely to look odd and feel uncomfortable.
leave it loose and there's still a nice contour in the middle. the rain flap adds a designer touch and the pocket placement makes this coat look really classy. if you want a little "sassy", push the sleeves up.
the material is lightweight but feels like it will be completely windproof. for California winter, a sweater under and this is enough.
I'm 5'5 130lbs got a size 6. fits perfect. room for a sweater. length about mid-thigh. pockets are deep!

I bought this worried about size; its a perfect fit....lightweight perfect for Fall weather. I am big busted with narrower hips but it fits beautifully! True to size!

I loved the style of this coat and ordered up from my normal size to be able to wear a sweater underneath. Here in NC this could be a winter coat. I was amazed to find it very tight (upper half of the coat) even after sizing up. I am returning and not reordering because without the measurements of the garment I have no idea what size to order. The link to the garment measurements were not in the description like they normally are. A shame because it really is a nicely made coat.

The only thing negative that I have to say about this item is that the color was Earth Green...NOT! It is a rich taupe color, without a hint of green! Just what I was hoping for. Compliments a dark taupe handbag, I have perfectly.

This is a beautiful coat....BUT it REALLY runs SMALL, so small that I didn't reorder because I had no idea of guessing how much larger to order and didn't want to continue to pay the send back charge. But the coat is lovely. It really was too bad.

I saw this channel surfing, and ordered without knowing measurements, at the intro price. So, to help others:
SIZING: I called for measurements and was told that 16 chest was 47.5 and 18 was 50". Based on that, I tried to change my order from 18 to 16 but, when it arrived, was glad I couldn't. I'm losing weight, so it's always tricky. I have a 47" bust and found the 18 to be the better fit. If you're busty, order true to size or up one.
FIT: The fit works well with my hourglass shape, with the drawstring allowing loose or tight, depending on mood. Be aware that the drawstring waist is set a bit high, and I'm short waisted. It almost feels a bit empire-ish, but the high waist helps give it shape and lengthens the torso, so somewhat slimming. Also, since the sleeves are not set in there's no seam on shoulder, meaning that it will look cleaner if you wish to order up, with no seams sagging down the arms.
COLOR: I ordered the Earth Green, which turns out to be a good name for it. It's sort of a deep taupe with a shimmer of deep olive green, leaning more toward the brownish side of the spectrum, but works very well with deep olive greens. A nice neutral.
FABRIC: Very nice, weighty hand on this, almost like a heavy polished cotton. Very pretty, looks high end.
LAUNDERING: I washed it as directed, gentle, cold, and mostly hung it to dry, but gave it about 15 minutes in the dryer when it was still a little damp, to get rid of any wrinkles. Came out looking new, but I think it shrank a tad. Still fits, still works. Will hang to dry for future washes, though.
WEIGHT: This is not lined, so the warmth will come from the weight of the fabric and whatever is layered below. Will nearly be enough for Virginia winters, but then I run hot.
STYLE: Well made, with both a zipper and heavy snaps, so will close solidly. The trench styling is classic and won't go out of style, so I expect to be wearing this for many years to come. Overall, pleased with the purchase.

I got this at the special pricing. I love the design and the fit. It's a classic and so slenderizing.
