Genius Speed Slicer Plus with Storage Container
I wasn't sure when I ordered this that it would be sharp enough to slice good slices. This is extremely sharp and slices easily. But be careful when you use it ...it will slice fingers too (Yes this is from experience). I didn't think that this would be as good as it is. I would recommend this to everyone.
I bought this slicer dec 2013 and have used it about 6 times cutting summer sausage. The V blade is totally dull now. Won't cut butter. Blade looks like it went thru the VietNam war. Can't even find any warranty info any where. Save your money DO NOT BUY.......
Great all around product
Love it Easy to use and so convenient that it can be used over your own bowl or with the container provided. Another great benefit is the little container that affixes to the top and will slice olives, garlic and little cherry tomatoes!! VERY SHARP... be careful.. :) I also bought this for my brother and he LOVES it too...
Don't waste your money.
Not user friendly! Blades do not adjust easily at all. I would not recommend this product.
This product works just as demonstrated. So nice having the storage bin so you can prep ahead and store in fridge till ready to use. I sliced a whole onion in a matter of seconds. Great slicer...love it.
I purchased this last summer, but never took it out of the box until now. I sliced the olives first using the hopper. The fun was over way too fast as is only took 3 passes to completely empty the hopper of a whole can of olives. haha. Next was the tomato. I ended up with julienne slices, when I wanted chopped, but it was ok, as they were going into soft tacos anyway. Last was the lettuce for shredding. I had to quarter the head to make it fit on the cutting surface, but that was ok too. The instructions are hard to read and not very informative. I had to go over them several times to get the adjustments right, since it had been so long since I had seen the demo on TV. I'm sure it will get better with practice. The dials were a bit hard to turn at first but now move with ease. Looking forward to using again. I agree that I wish the container was large enough to store the slicer, but the blades are really a self store anyway, so no worries there about injuries. Lastly, learning how to pop out the blade mechanism to clean was a bit of a challenge. But once I understood it, it was easy, just be careful when cleaning, as the blades are fully exposed at that point.
To the person who said it's dishwasher safe, the instructions state to handwash with soap and warm water only.
7 layer salad maker
It did not work as well as I had hoped. It was great for broccoli,&eggs, but nearly worthless for lettuce and celery. It was OK for tomatoes. It didn't have good instructions with it. I worked on a trail & error basis.
Not as good as it sounds.
"I've had my Smart Slicer for a while. I am now unable to turn the adjustment dial. Progressively got worse and now near impossible to use. Now looking for another better mandolin slicer. It also slides around and makes a big mess if you are slicing cabbage as the container and blade is two small. I end up making coleslaw with my knife. QVC should buy more made in the USA products.
As a slicer this has been my most used item purchased from QVC. SLICES FANTASTIC.
The fry feature didn't get much use, probably 2-3 times over a few years. However, when I went to use it again the turning knob that's used to bring up the fry blades would not turn. I even had my son look at it, since he's good at remedying problems; He was stumped, so now it's strictly a good slicer.
My only other "issue" is that it's made in China. I truly wish QVC would to offer more items made in the USA.
It Worked Freat For Awhile
I Have had this for awhile. Didn't use it that much, but now the blades are dull. Used tonight and had to push the potato through with a knife, went in the trash before someone got hurt. I really liked it, but for the use wasn't that great a purchase.
Love this thing! I have a much more expensive one of these things from Williams and Sonoma, but I like this one better. Today I sliced 5 lbs of potatoes, 10 leeks and a bunch of onions to get ready for our annual St. Patty's Day party.....took no time at all. Blade is sharp, love the plastic catching container..just so easy to use. Buying a second one for me and a few more for gifts.
Saves the knuckles and fingers!
The Genius Speed Slicer is a joy and simple to use! I love that it sits well on a bowl or free-stands on the counter. I have not found any problems with the dials or its functionality. The handy grip works exceptionally well and slices the item down to the end. I have used a different mandolin slicer for almost 20 years and the veggie holder did not work well. This is a definite upgrade and improvement. I love slicing veggies!
