Genius Speed Slicer Plus with Storage Container
How do you clean it?
It's a good slicer/dicer, but extremely difficult to clean. The frenching side can be released to clean, however the platten cannot be removed (unless I've missed how to do it) Food get's wedged on the side and so far the only way to get it out is with a razor blade or very thin knife. Surprised that the storage bin doesn't fit the mandolin. You really have to be careful when slicing that it doesn't fall off the bin. It certainly does not cut as quickly "as seen on TV." I need to practice more with it. The directions that came with the product leave a lot to be desired. Bought it because my old mandolin usually took part of my fingers when cutting. and being an organist, I need all the fingers I can get.
I enjoy stir frying vegetables, especially with so much home grown produce in the markets right now. I didn't think the storage container would be necessary but being able to chop a lot of veggies and then just pop them into the pan is a joy. It chops everything easily except eggplant. I learned to cut it in thick slices and then it chops beautifully. It comes with a stiff little brush, too, which is so helpful cleaning out the chopping grids. BTW handle them carefully when you wash them because they are very sharp - which is why they do such a good job.
Watch Out !!!
I couldn't wait for this to arrive as I was wanting to cut some corn off the cob so I could dehydrate it. I put it on the widest setting and zipped right down the cob. My finger and all. Not to worry only 3 stitches. When doing corn only hold on to the top half of the cob. The blade is extremely sharp so always use the guard. I did not and look what happened. I am not sure the guard would have worked with corn. The corn came off very nicely and the job was effortless. Some people were saying the julienne blades wouldn't come up. There was a couple safety locks on mine that once unlocked allowed the blades to come up. I can't wait to try something in the little hopper that comes with it. Meanwhile lesson learned and I love this gadget. One review said it would not cut through summer sausage very well. It had no problem cutting the end of my finger off.. Make sure you store it or put in dish water with the blade closed up so you don't run the risk of getting cut.
nice but big
I bought this and the (way smaller nicer dicer) to see which one I liked more and I was going to return this but decided to keep both as this costs less than the smaller nicer dicer and they are both useful. The smaller nicer dicer has a smaller footprint and is nestable but has a way smaller mandolin slicer so I decided to keep both as this actually costs less! I wish this was nestable like the nicer dicer.
First Time Purchase at QVC
I had never purchased merchandise at QVC-my first time purchase was a great buy-I love my Speed Slicer-easy to use-easy to clean-no more cuts on my fingers-no more mess in the sink-instructions should have a picture of the blade cover for safe removal and replacement on the blades-only issue for me.
Slices vegies with no effort. blade is very sharp.be sure to use guard. On my way to buy to buy more band aids
Reordering What I Returned
I returned this only because I saw the Genius Nicer Dicer demonstrated on In The Kitchen With David. I thought it would be more useful because of the additional chopping and slicing options. That thought was a mistake so I am reordering this slicer today. It may not have all the options but at least I will have a decent size slicer. I have another dicer which I will keep and use in conjunction with this one. This is a great size and will slice medium to large vegetables which is what I mostly use. I also like the safety features this slicer has. Oh well, we learn by our mistakes!

Love this item!
I can't say enough about this product. I recently bought 75 ears of corn at our Farmers Market and before I bought this slicer, I had to cut off the kernels by hand, which was a pain. I went through those 75 ears of corn so fast it was unreal. The attached container was wonderful for catching all the corn as it was cut off. I also tried slicing tomatoes and cucumbers and onions. It was a breeze and such even slices too. I love this slicer. I must add that it is very important to be careful when using this slicer as the blade is extremely sharp.
it 's okay
have it and it is one of the products we have in our pantry - but hardly use it - I spose it is not what I thought it would be sad to say
Knobs won't turn to adjust blade
I am so disappointed with this - what a waste of money! Right out of the box, the knob to adjust the blade thickness won't turn - I've even tried with some success to use pliers. Not at all as easy as the demonstration. The blade is very sharp and the knob to raise and lower the julienne blades works OK but again, not as easy as shown.
I have used a mandolin for years. But I had to pop in a different blade for each thickness and cutting myself was always a threat. I am really excited about the dials and the small container for smaller individual items!!
I was hoping that the Nicer Dicer could be used interchangeably with this unit, any chance of that:
Chef Tony, keep on cooking. You have great products for the home cook without the professional knife skills.
