This slicer makes life easier. Just be careful. Very, very sharp.

Purchased this Speed Slicer because I love the fact the I didn't have to change the blades and that everything was compact and very easy to use.
Love the knobs on the bottom for changing the size of slicing and also the spikes for french fries, very easy to use and does all that it claimed to do with ease.
highly recommend this product .
Rated 1 out of 5 by Pie keeper I really wanted this to work!
The concept of this product is great--adjustable mandoline blade and jullienne blades too-- All the blades are extremely sharp and come with a protector cover---- BUT the engineering and execution of design failed. The hinges and adjustment dials for the blades below deck caught up the food before it could drop in the bin-- I couldn't go through a hopper full of strawberries without taking the mandoline off the box and clearing the underside of the unit-- and after two uses, the lock tab holding the julienne blades in place broke off. Needless to say, this is going back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Luvsumbargains Not for family use
I am probably going to regret giving this two stars because I have only used it once...but it was really cheap, and following are the reasons I decided to give it a fair rating:
Basically, using this has convinced me to buy a GOOD product that does what it does. It served as a test product for me...it will not have to for you if you read this review.
1. I usually do not julienne slice cucumbers, zucchini, and crookneck squash. I did with this and found I really liked it. I am ALWAYS on a portion control diet, and I can use this so that I can better portion vegetables. If I had not tried this cheap device, I would not have had the desire to buy a better one, and I can use this in the meantime.
2. I used this and later put yellow squash under the broiler, topped it with paprika, and took it to work at an elementary school. A kindergartner saw it at lunch and asked for some. Out of curiousity, I gave it to him, and wouldn't you know it? He and a friend at the whole bowl...I kid you not...squash. It deserves one star for that, alone.
3. It sliced an orange, which I typically eat for breakfast very well. And it was pretty.
NOT SO GOOD POINTS
However, iwhen I buy a kitchen device, especially when cooking for the family, I want it to make my work easier, not prettier. This does not. Also, food gets stuckmin it pretty easily, and I cook enough to know when I blade will last. I anticipate this may last 3 to 6 months. To be fair, it was so cheap ( price and qualiy) that in 3-6 months, I likelly would have gotten my money out of it.
It is worth maybe $30' to someone who is on a portion control diet. Do not buy it fir family use. BETTER YET, DO NOT BUY IT. It will be too much trouble to send it back, so I will just use it as long as I CAN and then, throw it out. I, however, would not recommend it. Spend the money to get something that will last.
It THIS GIFT IS PERFECT FOR NO ONE...I JUST COULD NOT DESLECT THE BOX....

I just received this the other day and used it today. I had no trouble and it works beautifully.

First, it does slice very well and definitely use the holder. I like the hopper for chopping olives.
The major problems is the gears/wheels on the back side. It took me a long time to get it apart to wash. To get the blade protection off, one has to turn one wheel on the back. Sounds easy, right....it was like the plastic was stuck, and didn't line up correctly. Finally got that wheel turned, then I had to turn the second wheel so the julienne blades would all stick up. This one is a terror, it definitely doesn't budge easily, I had to get my husband to work it to the second position. Then there are these two tabs that need to be pushed at the same time together to unlatch the wheel for cleaning. Tabs are flimsy plastic and won't move easily. Took me to the next day to finally get them in the correct place. Got all of this washed. Now to put back. It was very, very difficult to push the tabs back into position so it would lock the wheel, then the wheel wouldn't go back to first position, I am strong enough to do this yet my husband had to step in and work it back. Another day wasted trying to get them back in position. This contraption is not well designed for ease of use; I should not have to work this hard to use something.

After one use, this device proves to be less useful than my sharp knife.
What you don't see on the air is the food clogged on the underside of the blade. Took too much time to dig all that out! When I'm done with my knife I rinse it and I'm done.
Also, not all of the onion (my test food) went through. It came apart toward the end, creating a great deal of waste. Almost NO waste when I use my knife.
