Foodsaver 30 Quart and 20 Gallon Zip Top Bags
Great for sucking air
This is my second time ordering these bags. Using them with the hand held food saver is so convenient and they work. I wash them for re-use if what I stored didn't leave a greasy film. I love them!
not for freezing
these are great. keep in mind that these are not FREEZER BAG'S. they are every day bag's. I use mine all the time. great for RV and camping too.
Gotta Love 'Em
I bought my Food Saver more than a year ago and finally used my original bags to the limit. I was really glad I could get more through QVC. They are less expensive than the brand name bags and you get a good selection. Thanks to QVC I save a lot of money with this product.
I love this product so much I bought one for my daughter and she loves hers too.
I bought a seal a meal before this came out on the market. it is a pain in the neck to use.
it stays in the cupard and I use this product all the time. I love it.
Very, very good ...but not quite perfect
Still a great system despite its few warts.
First off, filling the bags effectively can be tricky. The thing to keep in mind is you need to keep the part of the bag with the tab/valve empty so that it can be laid flat and an effective seal can be formed 'easily' when evacuating the air from the bag. The keyword here is easily. If you can't get the valve section flat it is still possible to pull the air out, but it's much more fidgety. Also, contrary to some other shoppers' results, I have been able to fill to the seal while leaving the valve/tab corner empty and still vaccuum seal the bag, as opposed to the bottom edge of the seal being a 'cut-off.'
Next, in my experience, the valve/tab piece has shown to be pretty fragile both in the fridge, but especially in the freezer. While I was able to package and seal nicely on the counter; several times in the early going when I revisited the bag after storage the valve/tab had come off and consequently the seal had been compromised. My solution is to put a sort of band-aid over the valve which I made with some clear packing tape and little squares cut from index cards. The key is to make sure the index card cut-out completely covers the plastic tab/valve. To date I have not lost another seal.
Another tip is to wrap items before bagging. I know I know ... but doing so will allow you to re-use more of your bags. It's an economical and green approach. Plastic wrap, grocery veggie bags and foil are all much cheaper than the FoodSaver bags. Overall a very good product line that's very competitively priced.
I love these things!
The set of bags (and the tool) I bought have lasted a very long time; the ease that the product works is amazing! I save a lot of money freezing leftovers!
love this food saver!
This really is great. I cut an avocado in half for a salad most days and vacuum pack one half and it stays good for days. Meat is so fresh tasting from the freezer and I can't say enough about this food saver.
Love love love
I had asked for the Foodsaver set (the machine and the bags) for Christmas this past year and am SO Happy I got it! I'm a single person and found I was throwing away more food. This has helped me not only cut my grocery bill down but not to waste money either! The bags are a perfect size, I put Salad in the large ones and my guacamole (amongst other things) in the smaller ones. The Salad will last over a week!
Next to my food saver, this is the BEST thing out. Just remember to seal the top good then the seal will remain tight.
Love this product.
The Fresh Bag
I purchased these bags in December and have used them for many, many things in the freezer and the refrigerator. Case in point-I put a green, red and yellow pepper in one bag about 3 weeks ago. I pulled the bag out this morning to use the peppers in an omelet and all the peppers looked like I just bought them. I was so amazed and happy. Talk about not wasting food!!! I have the large Foodsaver on my counter, but I find myself using these bags with items that I need to take portions from and seal again. Great buy!!!
Exactly what was expected
If used these bags wisely-not too much of expense. Wouldn't use if the product is going to be consumed within a couple of days. Regular zip bags or storage containers will do for a very short term use. Love these bags when I want to make sure freshness is extended to a longer period of time. Easy to use and on dry foods can wash and reuse.
LOVE these bags
What a big invention for a useful idea in the kitchen. Glad I bought the smaller food saver and gave away the large one.
