FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System with FreshSaver Handheld Sealer
This is one of the best purchases we have made! I was tired of throwing away freezer burned food. Love this!!
Money Saver for sure.
This is one of the best and most complete systems around and for the best price. I shopped around for months and this one was the best for the money and after I received it and used it everything worked like a charm and it still does 8 months later. I gave it as a gift and I had to be the one to train the parents on how to use it and they are totally excited, they wanted one for years and just never got one. I guess they thought it was too expensive or hard to use. Now they use it almost daily and are very pleased with it. It has saved them so much money that it has already paid for itself more over. Thanks again QVC!
I bought this to replace my original foodsaver of ten years. There is a learning curve on this one and the handheld; once I figured it out, it worked fine. Love the handheld !
Broke after one year of use!
Very disappointed that it broke after one year and this was my first purchase. The 1 year warranty expired shortly after it broke! I don't vacuum often, and the machine just stopped working unexpectedly. The manufacturer should extend the warranty and recall this model.
Buyer Beware - The Food UNSAVER
I bought this for a variety of uses including to store pet food so I could purchase the food in more economical sizes. When I use the vacuum and seal, it sucks all the air out of the bag and the everything is nice and tight. Shortly thereafter everything is loose and the bag clearly has air in it.
For freezing food, the seal is nice and tight with no air. When I defrost the item, the bag inflates and air gets in.
This vacuum/seal is a vacuum no seal machine. No instructions came with the product. It is essentially useless and a waste of money. Buyer beware!
I love it
This is a great item to have in your kitchen. I have used this almost everyday since I received it. The hand held sealer is a lifersaver for cheese and deli meat. It is easy to use and operate.
Love this. Have save a lot of money my freezer is stock up for the summer,, can't wait too make TV dinners from left overs!!!
Broke After a Few Uses
I took this to my vacation home out of the country. After only a few uses it would no longer create the vacuum. I was very disapointed especially since I have an older model that has been working well for 6 years.
There was no way to return it so I threw it in the trash.
If you buy it be sure to keep the warranty papers.
Just what I needed!
I am so glad my sister told me about this model. Because of weakness in my arms and back I could not longer use the older model that had to be held down on both front outer edges.
The moment I watched the video, I knew that I would need plenty of zip-lock bags too so I bought extras. I am starting to get my meats and veggies and even extra candies left over from this last holiday put up. I am saving lots of money! I like that. All I did was follow the video and really paid attention to what they were saying and read the instruction. I like it hat they still have the video out there if I feel like I have missed something and want a refresher course.
Now, I have lots of nice things stored safely waiting to be used. Thanks!
Oh... I love your handheld vac for the zip bags. My great granddaughter loved helping grandma fill them up and shrink them down. At three-years-old, with supervision, we did lots of bags together!
Great for grain too
My husband and I own a brewery and we use this product to store an assortment of grains. We also use it for meat from the big box stores. The piece that is for the little reusable bags is great for fridge use and stores things like cheeses and meats very well, but when put in the freezer, the bags seem to either open, or just leak a little. So I as long as you are using that piece for fridge use, it works great. I would only use the bigger piece for things you want to freeze.
Beware of this Seller.
I was very excited to get this system, since I was planning to do a lot more cooking, and freezing the extra for later. I noticed on the instruction manual which models these instructions were for. My machine was a V2431, but it wasn't mentioned in the instructions. I called the seller, "FoodSaver", and the girl claimed it didn't matter. All the models beginning with V24 worked the same. The vacuum sealing system itself worked very well. I took some things out a month later and they reheated in the microwave in excellent condition. At the beginning, I found I had more use for the smaller bags than larger ones, but I ran out. I had ordered extra bags along with the system, but the small bags were the ziplock kind. They were to be used to the hand-held sealer. I charged the thing for 24 hours as instructed, but then it was talking about returning the sealer to the "charging device". It didn't come with a charger; it had a cord attached to it and you simply plugged it in. I put some food into one of the smaller ziplock bags. There was a small circle on these bags that you were supposed to cover with the handheld sealer, but it didn't fit. The machine was running when you pushed down on it, but nothing happened. I contacted the seller again, and again. Their Customer Service was useless and rude. All they did was to send an identical instruction booklet; the same one that came with the machine. As I checked everything I'd received and got back on QVC's website and looked at all the other FoodSaver models, it was becoming obvious that I had been sent parts of different models. I sent FoodSaver a number of emails about this, finally including documentation. I took photographs of what I'd received, including a good clear shot of the model number. I also sent a copy of all this to QVC. I heard nothing from FoodSaver, and QVC sent me an email saying they were sending an instruction booklet. This would be the third one. I didn't know anything about the Jarden Company who owns FoodSaver, but I was very surprised at QVC's lack of interest. No one would take ownership of this problem. I spoke to a supervisor at QVC today; he said the "email department" was backed up, which was why there'd been no response. I wasn't going to pay the full amount for parts of a system. All of these parts are going back.
I agree with some of the other reviews there's definitely a learning curve with these machines, but I really like them. I also tried the 'paper towel' trick for sealing wet food from the instructions, but it just wouldn't stay in place when I started the vacuum. My solution was to freeze wet items for a few hours then place in food saver bag or just place in a normal ziplock bag, then put that inside the foodsaver bag. This keeps food and jucies away from the seal area. I had been on the fence about purchasing a vacuum sealer, glad I did. No more freezer burnt food :)
