Rated 3 out of 5 by from Opal ring Got this ring and was very excited to see how attractive it was however on close I soecrio b the opal has a large chunk missing right in the middle. Had to return it the day I got it. Will try again with a new one. Just hope the stone is intact. Worries me a little on how fragile this opal may be. I know opals are soft stones. We shall see how this one goes

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed Received today. Despite reading some poor reviews, I ordered it anyway. The ring had litte of the beautiful sparkle as seen on tv. I gave it a 3 because it is a nice looking ring otherwise, comfortable on the finger and I like the style. Just not pleased with the opal. Sending back tomorrow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! This ring is beautiful in design and execution. The rope designed shoulders of the ring, the petite halo of diamonds and the gorgeous opal go together flawlessly. As an artist I really appreciate the beautiful composition of this ring. It is too bad some got a stone without good color because the stone I got is awesome-it is full of color even in low light. I think you have to understand this is an Ethiopian opal, not an Australian opal. The two are very different. I you want the tiny flecks of color throughout the stone you want the Australian. The Ethiopian opal has more subtle flashes of color that change as you move your hand. It is just a wonderful, perfectly put together ring.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Really wanted to like this ring. Got it since it was my daughters birthstone. A couple of Cons- the diamonds were so hard to see and the little you could see seemed dull and lifeless. The opal color was lacking in color. Only had hints of orange and red in mine. Put it in different lighting to make sure. Pros- the actual opal size is nice. Equivalent of a 3-4 carat oval stone. Overall, not worth the sale price and definitely not worth the original price. Sorry just disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Yet Again I haven't had much luck in buying opal jewelry from QVC - the pieces I've ordered NEVER have the play of color that the ones worn by the hosts/models do. The one I received had some flashes of red/orange but no blues or greens at all - not in bright sunlight or under intense fluorescent lighting. Like other reviewers have stated before me, I'll either be exchanging or returning this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with mine I received a gorgeous colorful opal. The band is very comfortable. The only gripe is the opal is so beautiful some may assume it's fake! But I trust QVC regarding authenticity of stones. Remember that Ethiopian/Welo opals go clear when they get wet. So if yours looks clearish, wait a few days before returning it, and look at it under different lighting. It's so beautiful, it's worth exchanging, no matter the postal fees. You could never find such a quality ring at this price out in brick and mortar land. If you were lucky enough to find a matching ring, I'd expect it would be at least twice, maybe three times the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from love the setting well I love this dainty and feminine setting! I am a little disappointed in the opal after wearing for a couple days however. when I first opened the box it was getting darker outside and I saw colors and thought yes I got a good one! Inside there are flashes of orange and green some blue and yellow but they are almost like a blob as another reviewer described. I have been researching trying to find out what an actual good opal should look like. I had an opal necklace as a teen in the 80s and I've been looking to get an entire opal set and I was hoping it was this. I'm wondering if my opals in my youth were lab created. I guess I was expecting more of the pin spotted look where there are dots of various colors at a glance. While this has various colors they are more of flashes of smoothness less depth and sometimes there are no colors depending on the light. I'm torn as the setting is perfection and the reason I gave this 4 stars. The opal is maybe a 3 but who knows maybe I don't know what I'm looking at but I do want to love what I wear.
