Rated 3 out of 5 by Barbie Rachel This Item needs some improvements!
# 1. It's very bulky.
# 2. It needs a handle! It's very difficult to put it in the microwave, and REMOVE it from the microwave.
# 3. It needs simple recipes, i.e., how do i cook perfect rice in this unit? Can anyone tell me?
#4. Can I cook pasta in this Unit? Does anyone know? please advise.
Thank you! Barbie Rachel. A fellow Foodie :)

This portable cooker allows me to have hot, nutritious lunches at work. It gets very hot (but cool to the touch on the outside), so be sure there's enough liquid in your food to avoid burning. Love it!

This pot uses the same concept as the Hot Logic Mini cooker, although with the HL your food can reheat, and actually cook like a crock. Even frozen food in the HL takes no more than 2 hours to cook through completely.
I have used a 2-quart crock pot to do what this pot does, and even it (on low) does a great job of reheating, and cooking, too. For reheating, a crock pot takes about 2 hours on low.
This item only reheats, and that’s fine if that’s what you want to do. I found that the 3-foot cord is insufficient. The logic to make short cords to keep them from being pulled off a counter by kids is not as true as the fact that manufacturing costs are less when you cut the wire to a shorter length to save production costs when you’re putting out many units.
All this being said, I hope future models of this particular unit will include an ability to cook at low temperatures, in addition to just reheating food. And any new models should also have gaskets that are not so loose that they fall out when you’re washing them.
For reheating dry foods like rice and such in this pot, a tablespoon of water will create a little steam and help prevent sticking of the food to the stainless steel inner pot. You may need more tablespoons of water, depending on the food volume in your pot.

This should not be called a cooker; it only reheats food. It came with virtually no instructions, no cookbook (since it doesn't cook!)

I didn't see this until it was on clearance and it's pretty good for $20 (inc. S&H). I already have 2 electric lunch pots that I find handy, but they are only 20oz, half of this one. The lid on the MCM is SO much easier to get on and off! I like the steamer insert. But, I sure wish it had a plastic lid for storing it in the fridge the night before (something I use alot). And extra inner pots (with lids) would be great.

I used this for keeping my lunch of chicken with green beans warm on my desk at work. When I got to lunchtime my food was mushy. I wound up not eating it due to the texture.
