Dyson DC44 Animal Digital Slim Cordless Stick Vacuum
This broke nearly 13 months after purchase, it rarely did a good job of picking things up. The only part was great was portability for things like the steps or small places. Not worth the price!
Greatest little vac ever!
I love this little vac. It does the job well and I use it daily. Love it!
What a Dynamo!!
Suction is excellent, as is charge. Pushing the on switch during operation is not a problem. My 6 year old grandson LOVES to use it and he had no problem keeping the switch depressed. It is lightweight, easy to charge and easy to empty.
Perfect for torn rotator cuffs & behind toilets
This is the absolute BEST vacuum I've ever had! I have 2 torn rotator cuffs (permanent tears) and I have difficulty using any upright. This DC44 only weighs 4 lbs and simply glides over carpets and hard floors. I only have to charge it once a week, while I sleep. I clean my Mercedes Smartcar with it, too. It even goes BEHIND THE TOILET, without attachments! What other vacuum does that?!! Then I just pop the back open over the trashcan. Thank you, Dyson and QVC easy pay. I hope you get Dyson's new bathroom sensor/tap air dryer. It's a little expensive, but you won't need to buy hand towels, paper towels, or have drips on the sink & floor every again. Even the all-in-one sensor faucet / air dryer has sanitary air! Smiles, Annie in KC
Having one of the larger Dyson's, I expected a lot more than what I got from this stick vacuum. First of all, it's heavy and difficult to navigate around the room. Then, I have to wear a heavy glove when I use it because it hurts my thumb to keep the on/off lever depressed. Wish I could send it back. This purchase was a big mistake.
Great Customer Service
I purchased the Dyson DC44 Animal vacuum when it was the TSV. I used it for light jobs less than a dozen times. It worked very well until I was using it to clean our horizontal blinds. The motor started to sputter, then it turned on and off several times until it just died. I wondered if it hadn't charged properly/fully so I recharged it for a few days. I went to use it again but it didn't work at all. However, when the trigger is depressed, the green lights come on indicating that the unit is charged. I called Dyson's customer service department (their phone number is on the back of the main unit) and received amazing and very helpful service very quickly. They are sending me replacements at no charge. Even my husband is impressed with their service -- which says a lot because he can be critical of such things. Besides the above issue, I really like this vacuum. It gets into tighter places for which I normally have to change attachments. Not only does it get the loose crumbs off the floors but it also dusts the floors. We have an old Yellow Lab who sheds a lot. For that reason we need to vacuum almost every day. My only issue is the trigger which needs to be depressed in order to operate it. With my arthritic knuckles, this can be a real pain. I will take the advice of another reviewer and use her fix. This is the only reason I gave this vacuum four stars instead of five.
Been using my DC44 for about 3 weeks and absolutely LOVE it ... however ... like so many I hated holding down the trigger in order to use it. I checked and the new DC 59 Animal you do not need to hold down the trigger (but not willing to purchase another one). So here is what I did ... I purchased 2 types of Velcro strips. One with an adhesive backing and one that had no adhesive. I sewed the two types of strips together (you will need to think it thru so the non adhesive strip is NOT touching the "sticky" side of the adhesive strip --- Play with it first to make sure you have the correct side of the non adhesive strip place correctly so it will grip when wrapped around the trigger). Then I adhered the adhesive strip to the section just above and to the side of the trigger. Then I cut the non adhesive Velcro strip long enough so it would wrap around the trigger and then onto the adhesive strip again. By doing this it keeps the trigger turned on and I don't have hold the trigger. When I am through vacuuming I pull off the non adhesive Velcro strip.
The only other issue I have is taking off the tools from the machine. I find it a little difficult. (that's why 4 stars, not 5)But YES I would recommend this to friends. Finally, I LOVE how it picks up dirt along the edges and baseboard on my tile floors (10 stars for the efficiency in picking up dirt along the edges and baseboards). It performs this task far better than any vacuum I have ever used!!
This is an amazing product! It is so lightweight and versatile that I now vacuum every day! The only question I have: is there a way I can purchase an additional battery? It is so lightweight that I don't even want to drag out my canister vacuum any more. Dyson is as good as it gets! I love it so much I bought a second one for my daughter; she is a new mom and said it is great because she can hold the baby and vacuum at the same time--it's that lightweight! Awesome job, Dyson!
GREAT Cordless Vac
LOVE it - use it daily on hardwood, tile, and carpets - has power and great suction.
I keep it charged up and ready to go - quick clean ups that you would never do with dragging out the big vac, plug in lug around. This is just a great daily pick up. With the power really could be used for all your vac needs. Great for steps and all the attachments are perfect for various jobs. Do wish Dyson would include a manual on how to use, clean - but - went online and found all the info I needed.
The power button is really no big deal, just hold it down, even has a super power button if needed. I find I can vacuum all that I need to in 20 min - have never run out of power!
Love This Dyson
I don't understand all the negative reviews because this handy, powerful vacuum does everything I expected and more. It won't replace my Dyson upright but it'll get used more. It picks up pine needles, dirt and dust without any problem. It's way more powerful than the other small vacuums I've purchased. It's great on stairs. Very easy to grab and go because you don't have to deal with a cord. It's lightweight and easy to store. It'll be the perfect addition to the motor home when we travel. The only complaint is, as others have noted, you have to hold the power button. Dyson should fix that.
Dyson Makes Cleaning Fun!
I love this Dyson vacuum. It is my third Dyson product, and I've been completely satisfied with all three. I own a Dyson ball upright, an air multiplier fan, and now the DC44 cordless. This is an incredibly powerful vacuum and works best on hard surfaces. The available attachments make it useful as a handheld unit as well. The reviewers who are complaining about the 20 minutes of usage on a full charge and having to hold down the trigger to make the vacuum work need to do better research before making large purchases because all of this is disclosed in the item description or the on-air presentations. This vacuum is outstanding and convenient. Another home run from Dyson and QVC!
Doesn't work very well.
I almost never take time to review items but I was really disappointed in this.
I wanted this for quick daily cleaning around my Cockatoo's cage. The food I make for her stays in the cage but she crumbles her pellets and pieces fly everywhere. I keep a small corded vac close by but thought this would be so much easier. I also thought it would last longer than less expensive cordless vacs I've had that needed replacement batteries after a while.
The first problem is that there's no information in the manual as to which attachment is best for what job. Some of them are obvious like the smaller dusting brushes but others were trial and error. None of the attachments picked up the small pieces of pellets from the tile floor and other cordless vacs I've used didn't have a problem picking them up.
The second issue for me is that the top of the motor unit blows things around quite a bit. So if you want to pick up very light things or dust, if you get too close with the top of the unit, everything flies everywhere.
The last thing is what many people don't like and that is that you have to hold the trigger. I expected this from reading previous reviews of the cordless Dysons and if this were the only problem I would have kept it. As just a hand held unit it cleans things like wooden blinds and lampshades pretty well because there's enough suction to dust but not so much that it pulls them. In fact, I think the suction is pretty weak.
I expected much more suction, a better manual and better battery life from such an expensive cordless vac. The Ergo Rapido I have in another area seems to have more suction.
