bad purchase I was so looking forward to getting this vacuum thinking it would be so easy to use. Wrong...yes the suction is good but the hose is so stiff you can hardly manage it. It is either hitting your legs or furniture. The other problem is once you go forward you can't back up. You have to pick up the machine turn it around and step around it and the hose to go in the opposite direction then pull the cord out of the way so it will track behind you. Otherwise, you have to make a wide circle which you can't do when using it in a room with furniture. I just ordered the Shark Professional with attachments. So far I really like it. It has very good suction and the hose is very each to handle. It bends and retracts with ease and I still feel like I have a canister since I can lift it off and use as a canister. It just makes me sick that I spent so much money on the Dyson and just made my last payment on it this month. Now its going to Goodwill. 05-25-14
It's more maneuverable but a Dyson? Not any more. I have the first Stowaway Dyson canister. There were many complaints about its lack of maneuverability and general awkwardness. The complaints were well founded but most reviewers ended up saying that they would not return it because for the first time their house was really clean. This is true. It's powerful and very effective. When this new version came out I ordered it because I could see if was way more comfortable to use. Today I tried it for the first time. I was so disappointed! The brush is not powered, just moves with the suction of the motor. I re-cleaned with my old model and a whole lot more dust came up. So the result is that the famous Dyson cleaning power is gone. It's more handy, lighter to use and definitely more maneuverable. But what made a Dyson different to other not so efficient canisters is definitely gone. I believe the ball uprights have the old powered brush so they are probably a better choice if you wish for a really dustfree kind of clean. And awkward or not I would definitely keep your old canister model. 10-04-12
