Heavy, head stops when trying to use on carpets, lousy suction, picks up less than my stick vacuum

At first I was unsure if I liked this vacuum, but the more I use, it the more I choose it over my traditional upright. It's a bit clumsy with the pull behind but the suction if superior and light enough to carry it hold when needing to clean a challenging area. I bought this as a secondary vacuum, planning on using it on the stairwells but again use it almost all the time. Would recommend.

I don't know why canisters are hard to find now but they are. Even on clearance, this is pricey. However, every great comment you've read is true. I have one seagrass rug and then all hardwood floors. The gray dust that came out of the preciously vacuumed (old) rug was shocking! The room even smells cleaner also. (Sensitive nose). I did make an extra purchase of the hardwood floor attachment on EBay. I also love the soft dusting brush. It cuts down on regular dusting. I love this machine with its five year warranty and you will too.

This is my first time using Dyson, I hate bagless Vacuum that I experienced with in the past. What happen dust will blow to everywhere every time power it up, and I used for about one year I donated and so on promise not to buy another bagless vacuum.
Many of my friends using Dyson and recommend me to try, I also read reviews not much mentioned about dust happen and I decided to try one. This DC39 not bad for the price and for the power equal to 12amp upright vacuum, suction strong, work great on the carpet and wood floor. However, one problem the brush need to clean once awhile since it will tangle up with carpet lien and hair, well I am only using 2 months if any problem will update.

I've tried almost all of the vacuums out there and all have failed me. I am a mom of two toddlers and they're messy, so I do vacuum everyday sometimes twice a day. I have all hardwood flooring on the first floor of my home. Keeping hardwood clean is a job because you can see the dirt and crumbs on the floor easier. So, I vacuum my area rug in the living room about once or twice a day and the rest of the first floor once a day. I also vacuum my stairs and upstairs which is carpeted once a week sometimes more than once a week depending on if there is a huge mess. So, vacuuming this much wears out my vacuums quickly and it made me angry because I just wanted a reliable vacuum cleaner that can withstand vacuuming once or twice a day and once a week on carpet. None of the vacuum cleaner brands could take that challenge. I sure do hope my Dyson does because this is my last option of a vacuum. First, this vacuum is very lightweight in the hands. I really wish I had this vacuum when I was pregnant with my girls because it's so lightweight! I can now finally get under my couch! Before I had to get on my hands and knees with the vacuum hose to get under the couch(crumbs love to collect under there) with this Dyson I don't have too! When I am doing my regular vacuuming I can go right under the couch with my new vacuum. My first impression of this vacuum is all of the power that I can feel in my hands while vacuuming. This is the most powerful vacuum I've ever owned. Even the S vacuum, guys. S vac loves to do that pool ball trick and although the S vac is powerful this vacuum is more powerful. About a week ago my girls out into some powdered carpet cleaner and sprinkled it all over the carpet upstairs. In a pinch I got a S vacuum to help me last until my Dyson was delivered (my previous vacuum completely died) Although the S did pick up the powdered carpet cleaner my Dyson got the rest a week later! I went ahead and vacuumed the upstairs with my new toy and I couldn't believe all the dirt and small particles the Dyson picked up. I also vacuumed my stairs with this vacuum as well and let me tell ya, I won't be neglecting my stairs anymore! It took me about 5 minutes or so to vacuum the stairs and before it took about 20 minutes with the S vacuum and my old B vacuum. I also love the fact the cord rewinds its self with a push of the button. I never wrapped the cord up on my older vacuums because it seriously took forever and I would just turn around and vacuum some more in about an hour later(depending on my girls and their messes) That is probably one of my favorite parts about this vacuum. I also love the fact that it is easy to clean. I dumped all the crud my Dyson picked up and I sprayed a paper towel with some cleaner on it and wiped the inside of the canister and all the little nook and crannies. I also like that I will never have to buy a filter again unless I want a backup filter when one is drying. All you have to do is run the filter under your kitchen faucet once a month and let it dry within 24 hours. I will most likely buy another filter because I cannot go a day without vacuuming. I also want to note there is a YouTube video going around out there and its of people sticking the whole cleaning canister under the faucet to get all the dirt and grime out. Don't do it. The manual specifically says to not do it. I really hope this vacuum lasts a year later because after one use of this Dyson I am in love and it is the best vacuum I've ever owned! I love the color, the carpet lines it gives, the ease of cleaning, the ease of using it, and the ease of rewinding the cord. Love, love, love this new vacuum. My only regret is not asking for this vacuum when I got married almost 5 years ago.

I have had this vacuum for a month now and love it. This is my first canister and I am glad I made the purchase. Amazed at how much dirt is picked up. I like the fact that I can now reach under the bed without have to move the furniture.
Rated 5 out of 5 by MaggieMoosmom Super Great Canister Vacuum!
First of all, I have to say, I just LOVE this little gem! It is just what I wanted! I have a full sized upright Dyson, which is very powerful, but not as easy to use in certain cleaning areas. So, this DC39 canister completes my cleaning with ease! I got it mostly because I had surgery that wouldn't allow me to vacuum with a heavy piece of equipment. This machine has the ball and wheels that make cleaning a breeze with little effort to push or pull. I was astounded by the amount of dust, dirt and hair this baby picks up! I love it and am very happy with its performance. In addition, it is very easy to store in a tight space. It breaks down into parts that allow you to put it in the bottom of a linen closet. I use it on bare floors, room sized oriental rugs, stairs, under furniture, and wall to wall carpets in bedrooms. I also vacuum my bathroom floor ceramic tiles to get all those pesty hairs up before mopping. You will find this machine very easy to use and can perform tons of tasks.

Works great! Great suction and easy to empty, carts around well. Picks up pet hair extremely well and hasn't clogged as of yet. I am very happy with this purchase!!!

The only thing good about this vacume is the suction. Otherwise it is too complicated to operate. Don't buy it if you are 80 like me .I'm sick about how much I paid for it. It is currently gathering dust, as is my home.

I love the Dyson,,,,no bags to buy,,,washable filter and the teeth at the end are plastic,,,,on the Maila that I had the bags are expensive and the teeth are a cloth like composition and the animal hair sticks to it instead of going to the bag.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cathy from Ga I promise nothing beats a Dyson!!!! Nothing!!!!!!!
I am kinda handicapable, have allergies, asthma and we also have 2 dogs, one 55lb puppy Shepadoodle and one 6 yr old 100 lb Shepadoodle. (Both only shed a minimal amount) but I wouldn't know what to do without my Dyson!!!!! My husband decided we would try the high end Shark that's base comes off. One word!!! DON'T!!!! Will not pick up the little things, like cumbs from treats, hair, dust...especially on hardwood. The suction is not the same!!! I don't know how they care even allowed to!say that!!!!! Dyson will spoil you so very bad!!! But that's great because it lasts. The only reason we are getting a new one (and putting this $349.00 Shark in the friggen closet) is because we have an upright and I think a canister may be easier to manuver. So, this is from one pain in the butt, picky, highly hard to please reviewer. Don't waste your time looking, bite the bullet and buy a Dyson. You will not look back!!!! If you want to work 3 times as hard, use 3 times the electricty, three times the physical energy, three times the time...... then have to sweep to get up everything the Shark left behind, you buy a Shark. If you don't waste your efforts, money and your time, buy a Dyson!!!!

This is our 2nd Dyson. Purchased this primarily to vacuum the stairway and it does a good job. We have found that Dyson products retain a higher level of suction than any other vacuum. Dyson makes quality cleaning products.
