Dyson DC39 Animal Canister Vacuum w/ Mini- Turbine Head & 5 Attachments
Wanted something for dusting furniture, etc. Suction is excellent, floor tool does good job on wood floors, and surface clean on carpet, no deep cleaning on carpet. I have large dogs and you can only clean muddy feet so much, dirt gets ground in carpet. I have the upright Dyson and love it but arthritic hands cant change to tools easily and hose is too short for easy use. Just can't justify the price for what I'm getting. Canister is awkard to empty. Dusting tool is stiff brush and didn't clean well on furniture.
Best Vacuum I've ever had for pets
My husband and I-rescue older labrador retrievers. We have as many as four at a time at our home. I ordered this vacuum in conjunction with a dyson fan last year. Have to say it is the best vacuum i've ever had for pet hair and sand. It really gets up close to the base boards too. It is light weight and I like it markedly better than uprights for getting under furniture. Wish I had one for where I work- it doesn't spit stuff out. My only suggestion would be tio have a bigger vacuum container, with multiple large sporting dogs - I do have to empty the canister more often - but I have to vacuum less often.
I have read several of the other reviews of people who didn't like the vac - may I suggest they read the manual.... the problems they talk about are covered, duh.
Would not buy this again. Very disappointed.
I was really looking forward to getting this vacuum. However, like many others have said the brushes in the head cannot be controlled by the switch. I keep pushing the switch and sometimes it will work and other times it will not. But the thing I hate the most that that the little wheels on the head easily pick up hair and then get stuck. Additionally, the suction is poor so dog and cat hair get caught on the roller. Every time I vacuum, I can count on having to stop 1 or 2 times to remove hair from the roller. Save your money and buy something else. I will not buy a dyson again.
Works really well
I just got my vacuum in and have not really used it. But I could not beat the price and it was packed very well. Shipping was quite fast too.
I do have to say that once I put it together and tried it out for a bit to see how it would pick up some dog hair on my area rug, I almost went through my whole house because I was enjoying it so much. Before I knew it, my canister was full of hair and I realized I needed this vacuum really really badly. My Sanitaire failed me big time. I knew it was not getting all the hair, but when I just did a test run with my new Dyson DC 39 Animal, I knew without a doubt, I needed this in my life.
Let's hope it holds up and makes me proud.
Good vac but not a great one, suction is good , power head lacks power (typical with air driven ones) and requires constant cleaning, doesn't hold much dirt so that also requires constant emptying, it is quiet, light weight , could use a longer power cord. I think Dyson spends too much time on no loss of suction they forget the rest of it .
DON'T BUY THIS DYSON
Don't waste your money! I've had this thing about a year and a half-what a waste. Had a new head about a week-still doesn't work right-won't switch between hard floors and carpet, but this is my fault. Dyson customer service is HORRIBLE! They treat you like you're stupid and are very condescending! Doesn't matter what you tell them-you're wrong! I loved this vacuum for about a week and then the troubles began. I registered it but Dyson said I didn't. I told them the head wouldn't switch between carpet and hard floors-they told me to clean the filter. I finally got them to send me a new head and it worked ONCE! C'mon, I waited so long for a "top of the line machine". I just got off the phone with them-the c/s rep then was so condescending I actually hung up on him because I couldn't get a word in. He wouldn't let me tell him anything, all he cared about was telling me what I was doing wrong! He said it was a suction issue. I'm sorry the suction is fine-the vacuum is a piece of junk. I have never been so insulted in my life. Dyson needs to learn customer service yesterday! I am so disappointed I can't even begin to explain. I had to find a different head to use yesterday to vacuum my floors (which there are no instructions as to what they are each for when you get the machine) and it took forever. Glad I had that shoulder surgery a few months ago;( I'm going to try to call them again but I doubt I get a different result! FYI-emails get the same result. So sad.
Sorry I purchased this vac
It has been about a year and I had hoped I would get used to the quirkyness. The controls to rotate the head brush are whimsical, can't turn it off when I want and can't turn it on without shutting off the vacuum, and even then it is not consistent The steering of the wand and head is difficult. The attachments are in just the wrong place on the wand so I have to keep them separate. The plastic wand attracts lots of pet hair so I have to constantly wipe the hair from the outside of the wand into the suction. The roller "feet" on the head are a hard plastic and hair gets wound around them, and additionally they are very hard on the wood floor. The only thing I like about this vacc is that it can be completely dismantled and cleaned out, which is necessary because without a bag the innards get to dirty to keep using.
I wish I had bought a different vacuum.
Don't Do It!
I was excited to purchase this vacuum but after my first couple of times using it I was not impressed. At first it worked well but then the brushes would only rotate when I pushed the head on the carpet but would rotate all the time on the smooth floors. If I picked it up while turned on they would rotate but put it back down on the carpet and they would stop till I pushed it. I have 2 Golden Retrievers and the hair would not only be on the inside of the vacuum but I always had a bunch of it on the outside of the wand it was terrible. Then the canister would fall over or always get stuck somewhere. It was difficult to get the handle to stay standing up. It was always falling over and to try to attach it to the vacuum was a pain. The canister was also hard to put back in place once you emptied it. I too was always taking it apart to see why the suction and or brushes where not working well. I bought my in October of 2013 and returned it in January 2014. So I did work with it for several months till I just got fed up and sent it back.
Worst sweeper ever!!!
I love my upright Dyson. Thought the canister would be of the same quality. This canister falls over when sweeping, ii's suction is poor, and it loses suction. It is hard to place the canister back on after it is emptied. I am always taking it apart to see if something is trapped that causes the suction to be poor. I cannot wait to replace it! SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Very cumberson to drag around... CLUMSY!!! I much prefer my Oreck!
don't waste your money
Bought this vacuum six months ago, and for the first 6 months was great. Had a problem and called Dyson's customer service and got the run around. I registered this product, and yet they had no record of it. Took the vacuum to a local repair shop, and was told the roller head was defective, and also the book that explains how to use it didn't not show how to reinstall the filter after cleaning. Would never by another Dyson.
I bought this last year and it is the absolute worse vacuum I have ever had.
