H181678 - Dyson DC25 All Floors Vacuum
Can't live without my Dyson
While I agree with previous reviews that the hose is less than perfect, I can't say enough about the cleaning power of my Dyson. I don't find it to be loud at all and it cleans all surfaces fantastically! I have ceramic tile, laminate wood and various heights of rugs and carpets and it gets ALL equally clean (and I have 2 dogs and a cat!!). Have had my Dyson for over 5 years. My beater bar brush stopped working recently and I called Dyson. They talked me through some things to try to make it work and when it didn't, they shipped me a whole new beater bar attachment and now my 5 year old cleaner is like it's brand new. No vacuum is perfect, but my Dyson is the closest thing I've found. I live in the desert of Arizona and with all the dirt we have, this is the ONLY cleaner that has ever worked for me.
Love the suction power of the machine. It is a loud machine when operating and we thought the hose wand would be great on stairs and walls. But hose has been a great dissapointment. Very stiff and hose diameter is so small that things that are sucked in like pebbles or dog food bits get lodged inside. There are a lot of better machines on the market at this price point. Unfortunately, we have had this one too long to send it back.
=/ Not Happy
I have used this product 3 times on all types of floors. It is ok, but for the money it costs, I guess I expected more. I gave it 2 stars for being able to carry it where I need to use it. That is about it. The hose is WAY too short and stiff, the vacuum will literally will nip you in the heels as you clean! It may loosen up after awhile, but I am not going to wait and see because it is highly annoying trying to clean and avoid the vacuum at the same time. The wand gets clogged very easily and I have the animal version! I would expect it to pick up cat hair, or a little popcorn, without getting clogged...uugghhh. It really didn't raise the nap too much on the carpet...nothing amazing like you think it will be. Cleanup is ok as long as you don't get pet hair attached to the cone inside...but you will. Then you will have to remove the canister and pull the hair off. It boasts that your hands don't touch the dirt because it opens from the bottom so the dirt can fall out....Haha I am a short girl...5'2 and I feel the need to bend over to use this vacuum. The cons are too many for me, so I will stick with my rainbow, even though it is a pain to lug around, it does a way better job and my heels are safe....lol
Not that impressed.
I puchased this Dyson product 17 months ago. Long enough to know I'll never buy another and wish I hadn't bought this one. The hose is stiff and difficult to extend. I had to take it into a shop for repairs a few months after purchase because the the on/off switch wouldn't work. Yesterday I used it to vacuum up some dog hair on my hardwood floor, now the switch that works the rotating brush won't depress to turn the cylinder back on. I've only used the Dyson a half dozen times preferring my old vacuum since it is less hassle. The 2 stars are for the suction power and the ease of empting the dirt compartment. But I'd think for the money spent for a Dyson they'd build a much better product.
great vacumn except for the hose
Dyson makes a great upright that does wonders on carpet, but the hose on mine, like many other customers, absolutely refuses to stretch. After contacting Dyson, I have wrapped it around the vacumn every time it's not in use or stretched it all the way out for days on end with absolutely no results even after months of trying. I have finally relegated it to my upstairs that is only used when company comes since it has the most carpet. Very expensive for something I use about a dozen times a year! If you have mostly carpet, it's worth the money, but do not depend on using the hose and accessories.
If anyone has found a solution, please let the rest of us know what to do.
STRONG LIFTING POWER~
Wanted to find a vacuum that had the ability to clean hardwood floors, pet hair, and deal with carpet. And if it could be easy to use, that would take care of my needs. This wonderful, cleaning monster does it all! Seems like no job is to big for my new "best friend" to tackle. QVC, you have a winner, love my Dyson!
I got my DC25 vacuum in purple back in January 2011 as a New Year's gift to me to help with my resolution! And boy did it! We have 3 cats, 4 uncaged ferrets (our house is ferret proofed to the max), 2 cute little canary birds, 3 dogs (a great dane, a beagle, and a pappillion), and a pygmy goat who often comes into visit....even though his barn is nice and cozy and warm!!!! (he is my grass trimmer lol) I use this vacuum 2...sometimes 3....times a day and have never, ever lost suction. My house does NOT smell like a barn. Dust does NOT shoot all over the place like my old vacuums. I do not have steps so I am not sure how it works on stairs. I would just buy a second one if I had stairs lol. I can be lazy. It is easy to cart around the house and glides like on ice. I love my DYSON. And with no belts or bags...its no worries. It is so cheap to replace the filter...only 25 bucks...and dyson pays for the s&h. It is a worry free purchase. I LOVE MY DYSON. I still have not figured how they did it.,,,I cant even find a motor????
I am very let down by this vacuum! I heard great reviews and thought it would be great for use in my home with two dogs! I bought it the end of October 2011 and 3 weeks ago it just stopped turning on just received it back from the repair shop turned it on worked fine next day vacuum would not turn on!!! I purchased this vacuum so I wouldnt have these problems and now I will be returning this vacuum because it is not reliable and I am unable to clean my house!!!! WHAT A LET DOWN!!!!
This vacuum has good pick-up as the cup is always full when I'm done. My area rugs look nice after I use it. Having said that, I have a continuing problem trying to get the handle/hose to come free of the machine so I could use for cobwebs, etc. The handle/hose assembly piece broke after our repeated attempts to get the hose out, to no avail. I called Dyson Customer Service and spoke to a very nasty young man with a bad attitude. They agreed to send me a replacement part after being spoken to very disrespectfully.
My son-in-law was able to put the new part on. I still cannot get the handle to come out readily and am afraid of breaking it again, so I just use it to clean the floors and rugs. For the price, it seems to me to be not a very sturdy product.
Moved into a rental house and the carpet was so matted that my Oreck couldn't vacuum it at all. It simply chatted across the carpet not picking up anything.. Today I received my new Dyson DC25 (which I received as as gift) and I couldn't believe it. Not only did it do an amazing job of cleaning the carpet with it picked up fuzz that was matted into a poorly taken care of carpet. I love my new Dyson. My daughter recommended it a long time ago. but I had my Oreck....sorry I waited so long. I love how it cleaned up so close to the edges and that it's great to see what is getting picked up. I emptied it several times while doing the house. Would recommend this product to anyone.
You have to tilt the vacuum head back while running for a few seconds. Believe it or not, this creates the suction needed to leave the vacuum marks. That should be in the manual too. Hope this helps.
Never looks as if I vacuumed!
I purchased this vacuum in February 2010 when it was a TSV. I was immediately impressed with the amount of dirt in the dirt cup. But the nap of my carpets never looked refreshed. I kept the vacuum thinking eventually the situation would improve once all the deepdown dirt were removed.
Well, my carpets have never looked worse at this point. I was about to think that the carpets are to blame for the less than fresh appearance -- until I pulled out an old vacuum and tried that -- the carpets looked beautiful when I used the old machine.
Of course, I cannot expect Dyson to take the vacuum back now -- but I am extremely disappointed. $500 is not a small amount of money, and I will probably delegate this vacuum to the rear of my closet and resume using my old vacuum.
