I used this over my entire house. It worked beautifully. It even articulates so that you can get the tops of the ceiling fan blades. I had no leftover grit like occurs with a stick vac. The bristles go all the way around the tool with cutouts in the front so the dirt can go in. I didn't have trouble with it not picking up due to animal hair. There were times when some would get stuck on the bristles and would hang there, but that's no big deal to me; I have had that happen with other hard-floor tools too. If there is one thing that I wish was different, it would be the fact that it flips forward and backward when you get on a rug. I wanted to be able to run it over my rugs but I couldn't because of the flipping. BUT then again, it is a hard-floor tool! I recommend this to anyone who, like me, wants to avoid having to purchase a canister vac just to get the hard-floor tool. I use a dust mop regularly but this is perfect for those days when you want to do deeper cleaning.

This has got to be the worst designed tool ever. In oder to be able to swivel and bend in all directions, they designed so the brush only has two narrow holes on either side of the one swiveling part for all the dirt, dog hair etc to get sucked up into vacuum. This is not suitable to give enough suction for pet hair. As others said, the hair sticks to bristles so you spend alot of time flipping it over and putting the hair from brush into vacuum by hand. If I wanted to use my hands, I could use a broom and dust pan. I don't find that it picks up dirt so well either. Definitely not kitty litter or mud chunks. Again it is a design flaw since the holes are not aimed at floor but out to the sides. There is no direct suction. The bristles on the brush part are not uniform length so you can't even put pressure on it to form seal for the suction. Except for being able to reach under something that the big vaccum can't reach, there is nothing positive to say.

Dog hair tangles up in the brushes on this tool and gets clogged up in and around the tool. It is so messy to pull off the pet hair that sticks in the brushes. I am extremely disappointed in how this does not pick up on hardwood and tile. I have to go over the area multiple times to get up the dust and pet hair. If the tool hits the edge of an area rug, it flips over. This is the worse product! I am amazed that some Dyson engineers think that this works well. I will stick with my flat-out tool. The flat-out tool is perfect for hardwood and pet hair, but I am always looking for something better so I tried this articulating tool. I think this one is a waste of money and time and effort. If all Dyson products worked like this one does, I would not own a Dyson.

Never thought I would write a review about a vacuum cleaner attachment but I just finished using this and it is fabulous!!! Even though it is wide, the articulating head gets into every nook and cranny better than any attachment I have ever used. And because it is wide, and it's not overly wide, it's 11-3/4" wide, it gets the job done faster!! This really is the greatest tool. I own the DC39 Animal Canister, which I also love, and although the carpet attachment can be used on floors, I prefer a tool with a brush for floors. Love it!!
